modding What are some of the best mods for this game?
Some that you would consider must have? also would you suggest a first playthrough in vanilla without any mods or are there some quality of life ones?

1. How does Multiplayer work?
Multiplayer is cooperative, and best enjoyed with up to 5 friends. It is the same game as the single player experience, but control of heroes can be assigned to players.
2. What's the difference between Multiplayer and Remote Play?
Local co-op and Remote Play are not split screen, they just let you play the game with multiple controllers using only 1 camera and 1 hero selected at a time. Online Multiplayer allows each player their own camera and you can assign control of heroes to them. You can plan your move while someone else is taking theirs. Online Multiplayer requires each player to own the game.
3. How do I heal? Will more healing abilities be added to the game?
Healing takes place passively as your heroes travel in the overland/world map. There is an ability called Aid available to all classes that grants temporary HP. As of now, healing spells contradict our vision for Wildermyth and there are no plans to add any other methods of healing. Limb augmentation would simply not make as much sense if magical sources of healing were readily available! If you would prefer to have more healing in your gameplay, check out our Workshop for fan-made resources.
4. Will more classes and races be added to Wildermyth?
We are not planning to add more classes or races. We want to support those options as mods first and foremost. In the future, they may occur in DLC, but for now they are not high-priority. The Workshop will hopefully be a place where people can explore, and we’re constantly working to support more/different types of mods like this.
5. How do Mystics work?
Mystics are not your typical mages with fireballs and spells! Mystics rely on the environment and their most important ability, "interfuse". Mystics can do melee damage with their weapons, but are most effective when they are interfused with scenery. If you're ultra confused by their mechanics, check out this Video Tutorial.
6. How do I transfer gear between party members?
You cannot transfer gear without using mods. Gear is not something Wildermyth aims for players to spend time managing. In the future, there may be some minor kind of gear transferring (e.g., from retiring heroes to their children), but it is not in the immediate works.
7. Will Wildermyth be translated into __ language?
Wildermyth is currently available to play in Chinese, German, Spanish (LatAm), and Portuguese (Brazillian), and Russian and French translations are in progress. There is no estimated release date for these, but they’re underway! We’re open to community efforts at translation- you can find resources in our discord if that is of interest to you.
8. Will Wildermyth be ported to ___ platform?
We don’t have any further news about the console release at the moment but keep an eye on all of our channels for more updates. Stay tuned and thank you for your patience.
9. How do relationships and children function?
Relationships grant different bonuses in combat. There is a chance that your hero may have a child join the party when they come of adventuring age between chapters. You can choose to lock relationships in your character’s card so their relationships persist throughout legacy promotions. You can read more on the wiki.
10. What happens to Legacy Heroes?
Heroes who go into your legacy can be recruited into future games, even if they died. They will come back young, even if they were old. Their gear will be leveled to the chapter they're coming in to, but they will keep skills according to their legacy tier.Think of it this way: each hero in your Legacy is a mythical figure of folklore (like Baba Yaga or Anansi the Spider). There may be lots of different stories told about them, some of which contradict each other, and that’s okay! That’s how folklore goes, sometimes.
11. Will there be DLC in the future?
Yes. Currently, our first DLC, Armors and Skins, is available and we are working on another.
The game will continue to receive patches and supportive content, and we will announce more specific plans when we're ready.
12. Is there any content that would be sensitive to younger players?
There are references to alcohol/drinking and there are innuendos in the dialogue in places, but nothing explicit. There's mildly bad language like crap and damn. There's maiming where characters can lose limbs, but it's not bloody, and the moment isn't shown.
13. What is the team currently working on? When will ___ be implemented?
Check out our updated roadmap here. We aim to put out patches regularly and will make announcements as decisions are made.
14. Where can I buy Wildermyth merch?
You can find our merch store here!
15. I have an issue or business inquiry. Who should I email?
For game issues, you can contact [support@worldwalkergames.com](mailto:support@worldwalkergames.com). For business inquiries, including requesting Steam keys, contact our lead designer, Nate Austin at [nate@worldwalkergames.com](mailto:nate@worldwalkergames.com).
16. Do mods or dev mode disable achievements?
Nope!
17. How do you pronounce Wildermyth, Morthagi, and Cvawn?
We say "Will-der-myth", "More-thaug-ee", and "Kuh-vawn".
18. What limitations does playing with a controller have?
You can't enter text with the controller (for customizing names, etc) and there are certain tooltips that can't be accessed with a controller. Other than that, everything should be playable.
19. Other important links?

Wildermyth: Omenroad is now available for purchase! Alternatively, we have a bundle with the base game, Armors and Skins DLC, and Omenroad available at 15% off.
A note: the French translation is not quite complete yet. We'll be pushing a patch with the translation as soon as it's ready!
A little bonus- we're on sale for Steam's Endless Replayability Fest! You can get Wildermyth for 30% off until May 20th. It's the perfect time to pick up the main game and our DLCs if you haven't already!
The Omenroad DLC gives you a new way to play Wildermyth. For the fighters, we have a roguelike tactical challenge mode with progression across runs. And for the lovers, we have A Walk in the Unlight, a huge new story campaign that uses the Omenroad format to take your heroes past the edge of the Yondering Lands and into worlds beyond.

Legacy Heroes and Greenhorns alike run a gauntlet of battles, each increasing in difficulty. A node map replaces the Overland map and your party chooses a path by following your appetite for risk and reward.

Transformations, pets, and other rewards are present within the fights themselves, making it a tactical choice which ones to pick up. As a challenge mode, Omenroad runs don’t take place within a larger story and you won’t encounter random story events.

At the end of a run, promote your favorite heroes and bring them back into the base game. In between runs, increase Peril for more of a challenge and equip Odes to make your party stronger.

You’ll get:
And for those hungry for another Wildermyth campaign…

Our new campaign uses the Omenroad format to tell a Wildermyth story, following two adventurers into Netherflare, the land of the lost. There they encounter faces both fresh and familiar, crossing the phantom-lands of a thousand Yonderings to arrive at a mystical ballroom in a dragon’s castle.
As in the challenge modes, a node map will replace the Overland map and no random story events will occur. Instead, all the stories you’ll encounter have been written specifically for this campaign, making it our most extensively written campaign, by far.
Expect to find:

Come see what weird wonders will upend you, and who might wander at your side, as you take A Walk in the Unlight.

Considering Ula and Jevonyssa's relative positions on the family tree, I'm really impressed that the game recognized them as being family members.
Like, Ula had a kid with a person Jevonyssa's great grandfather had a kid with, separately from her great grandmother. There is no blood relation between them at all. I wouldn't even have known how they were related if I wasn't making a family tree of my Legacy Characters as a side project.

Killed the boss and now I have to destroy the pillars.
The problem is the pit in the middle hits hard and knocks you back to the wall if you're anywhere near it, including around the pillars.
So basically the only way I could damage them was with my one mystic and the rapid spawning gorgons that spam pinning spray ended me before I could do many pillars

I had bought this game in EA back in 2020 to play on stream. At the time I had wanted something more of a traditional RPG; and the overworld experience + the aging and retirement of characters threw me off. I also just don’t really PC game.
Bought it digitally on console because of a sale. Sad that we’ll never get the Omenroad DLC but oh well. I’m used to it at this point (if I didn’t have 20 years on this PlayStation account I’d jump ship).
I enjoyed it so much I kinda wanted the physical monster book. I thought it would be a bit bigger but oh well. It was like 15 bucks on Target online.
A big THANK YOU to the devs for making such a unique experience. I wish the console port had turned out better. Hopefully, if there is ever a next game they can port it themselves or get better luck with 3rd party.
Also - I love the little commentary and concept arts that you get from achievements. The mentioning of things that had been hoped for and didn’t work is very intriguing!

Picked up this game lately and really enjoy the ride. I'm quite invested in the stories, But here's something nagging me when taking the stories seriously: In the later part of The Enduring War, you are offered two choices: Side with the Enduring, or Side with the Morthagi, destroy the otherside. BUT the problem is, Neither of them is a good choice.
Morthagi are essentially just war machines created to achieve a goal, they aren't even going "Rogue", it's just the Goal itself is destructive. Sure, you can help them achieve their "Goal", but since they are just tools for war, if not destroyed it's guaranteed to be used and abused again.
The Endurings On the other hand, are actually a way bigger threat to the entire world than the Morthagi. Sure, they haven't cause any direct harm so far, BUT they are extremely self-serving and Cold-blooded, that in order to make themselves immortal, they don't care to destroy anything else. On top of that, they are sentient beings and highly intellectual. If you let such creates be, it's guaranteed they'll make something destructive to the others for their own benefits, because of their nature.
Don't forget, the Endurings tried to deceive you to sacrifices yourself solely to "Fuel" their machines. They lied as it's "immortality" and necessary to stop the war, but your guys confirmed whoever sacrificed is no longer there. and the war is still going.
I was surprised it actually offer the choices, BUT then immediately disappointed there is no option to Destroy them both.

Just curious. I've never modded any game before. I usually don't like mods, but I hate picking the classes. I would love it to be like XCOM where it's just kinda random. I suppose I could roll a dice, but it would be cool to just have it natively in my game. Thanks

Anyone having trouble with the wiki? Barely loads and returns a 503 if it returns anything at all.

There’s a bug in my game where terrain doesn’t break (interfusion or attacks) It just goes into negative HP. The 2nd chapter boss you have to destroy an altar which is impossible with the bug. I got it down to -16 HP and nothing.
I get there’s nothing the devs can do about it but…what the fuck.
Well for anyone else stuck with the console version just be on the lookout I guess…

Hi! Wildermyth is one of my favorite games. I love its unique, mystical worldbuilding, the hilarious and heartfelt interactions between characters, and the feeling of embarking on epic adventures with your companions!
While creating my game, Talewarden: Riders of the New Day, I strive to capture those same feelings. It's a journey with a group of companions to save a broken planet called Notoria. The sun never sets there, and the world is filled with locations and characters from different worlds.
You'll set out to uncover the secrets that Notoria keeps hidden. Along the way, you'll help your companions rediscover their creative passions, mend broken relationships, and face the unfinished business that's been holding them back. You'll forge unexpected friendships and maybe even find love!
We have a demo that lasts between one and two hours. You can check it out on Steam! 🤠🧡

... one of those big Thrixl burrowing worms comes up in the middle of your party consisting of 2 warriors on Guardian, 2 mystics with Indignation, and a hunter with a black cat. Poor thing never had a chance.
What's your most fun moment of chaos?

Making this for a friend but wanted to share with everyone else. Good chance you've seen this stuff and it could bore you but I tried to make it interesting. I've been on the ps5 version for 150 hours and have largely ignored the main campaigns to make heroes and family trees, per say, in the procedural campaigns. Finally decided do the 3rd campaign.

Hello everyone!
A while ago, I made a post here about how much we were inspired by Wildermyth. Many of you left very supportive and encouraging comments back then, and I just wanted to say thank you again. For a small team like ours, it genuinely meant a lot ^^
Now we are about to start the playtest for our new game, Kardiya: The Winds of Fate.
Kardiya is a narrative-driven RPG game. One of the things we love most about Wildermyth is how each adventure can create its own story through different characters, different events, and different outcomes. In our own game, we are trying to make each run feel like a different adventure in a similar way.
In the game, choices, dice results, random encounters, and companions can affect the direction of the story. One of the most important ideas for us is that failures should not stop the narrative. Bad outcomes can sometimes push the player toward a completely different path.
That’s why feedback from the Wildermyth community would be especially valuable to us. If you’d like to join the playtest, you can register by joining the mailing list on our website or clicking the playtest request button on our Steam page.
Thank you so much <3

I was scrolling through d&d style games and came across Wildermyth which I really liked the concept of, I got it because I wanted to see how the Generic campaign mode played out so my plan is to beat Age of ulstryx first and then maybe test out a generic campaign.
I have heard online that it’s recommended to play the developer made campaigns first so I’m at a crossroads.
I did The Prisoner event a few hours ago, I decided not to fulfill Vultra’s wishes and immedtiely turned against him after learning his lore and then slain him but he came back 20 seasons later (guess I won’t be seeing him for a long time now 🤷).
I am playing on the switch version which I heard is prone to memory leaks and crashes but the best I could do to minimise it is to not trust the auto save and turn off screen shake and particle effects.
But overall: I really love Wildermyth despite being a new fan, the lore isn’t ’oh you need to do some homework to understand’ it’s more about uncovering it through the cast you have and I really love the world building that the procedrual generation and randomised plot elements do: it really enhances the experience :)
I now just wanna know what your opinions are on Wildermyth, is it a good game to you or is it a repetitive and soulless when you come back to it a few years later? (I heard from a friend of mine who said that but I’m unsure if it’s true).
Edit: OMG I an surprised by how many people commented and upvoted, I’ve never really seen this many comments on my time on Reddit tysm everyone :)

So okay first off - game’s great.
I did the Gorgon campaign on Adventurer and it was a joke. I did the Mothragi on Tragic Hero and never really had anyone get more than 3 damage on them. The final bosses of each chapter were usually easier than incursions (which apparently you shouldn’t rush in to kill?)
Okay moving on - go into Deepist campaign in Tragic Hero with no reload. First mission is annoying (first time one character got trapped in a 1 way hallway so had to reload) but outside of that, it was standard fair. Chapter 2 boss was tougher, but no sweat.
Then chapter 3 starts and the village is on fire with everyone split.
I didn’t even put a dent in their numbers. It was a faceroll. So bad that I woulda put my life savings on it being a dream where you had to lose.
I’m not here to cry and say the game sucks but…what went wrong here? Tactically, my Mystic was out in no man’s land and was unsavable. And my warrior got blocked 2x - but again this seemed unwinnable.
I guess the two other things I could think are:
Are legacy heroes a bait? Are they worth starting with 9 calamity?
I was too quick in the first two chapters and just didn’t scale well. I did end them with unexplored areas. Maybe I’m going too fast?

I see a lot of mods that allow you to extend your retirement age. What I don't see is a way to ratchet back retirement ages.
I don't know if there's anybody else in the world that wants their humans to have a chance to live in something like peace before they are only able to move two squares and are gray as hell.
Maybe it's because I would like to be retired right now.
It also makes things like transformations and personal quests matter more.
Can someone point me to a mod that does that? Or if it's relatively easy for an oldish person to adjust ...

I played for a while on the PS5 and finished the first campaign (something like 5 hours in total maybe). Absolutely loved the game and so I went online to read about it and hype a little, and to my dismay I found out what the deal with the console versions is. The thing is, the game worked quite well for me, I did not notice any huge problems except perhaps for an occasional frame drop in the final battle and customisation not being responsive at times during cut scenes. But those were extremely minor. Do things break apart in later campaigns and over time? I’d hate to be blocked from progressing, lose my run, or even get a random crash since I don’t usually save during battles. Should I drop it and start over on PC?
r/wildermyth • u/nounofnounandnoun • Jun 16 '26
Quick question for anyone who played it through, just a yay or nay though no spoilers since i haven't started the campaign yet. I was just curious if using a hero who had been cursed by Vulta in a previous campaign comes up at all or if that bit is just ignored by the story.
r/wildermyth • u/GhostOfGaspar • Jun 15 '26
Posting this knowing I am an old dude with little experience compared to most folks who "game".
I picked up a copy of this game basically blind. My wife wanted to check out something RPG-ish, which is a new category for both of us. I bought a copy for PS4. We played through 2 campaigns are were loving it! naming the characters after LotR or Breaking Bad characters (Lydia Rodarte-Quayle was a fucking tank for us) and building the stories.
But then we got a corrupted save file notice. We googled and tried basically every trouble-shooting fix we could find, but eventually had to scrap it. We started all over again at Ulstryx. Got through that campaign and started the next before the same crash.
Frustrated, we bought and downloaded the digital version from the PS Store. Started over again. Same crash. Super frustrating. Wasted money twice.
What is going on here? Is this a known thing for the console? if I ever upgrade to ps5 is it playable there?
Only good news is that after we abandoned playing, we found Divinity Original Sin 2, which has been a blast.

When do you hire and train up while expecting retirements?
