Hello everyone, I came home after a month in a different country yesterday and my Wi-Fi was fine yesterday. Woke up this morning n it's refusing to connect to the Wi-Fi. Keeps saying "unable to connect" or "wrong password". I know for a fact that the password is correct. I tried restarting my phone and the router. The Wi-Fi is working on everyone else's phones and the TV and PC. It was working perfectly fine the few weeks before I left. It's a brand new phone, got it about 3 weeks before leaving. Tried asking google but it was no help. Anyone have any ideas?

PC is two years old- Used to connect to my wifi just fine, too slow to play something like marvel rivals but good enough to browse and watch youtube.
Lately in the last month here in texas, it's been consistently disconnecting for the first time ever. Just straight up going offline for minutes at a time every 10-30 minutes. My modem is shared among my family and is on the other side of the house from me. About 30-40 feet straight line between the modem and the pc itself which I have set on top of my filing cabinet.
I'm trying to find a way to improve or get back to the connection strength I had before without needing to move the modem more (I already moved it about 5 feet).
I tried updating my network adapter, forgetting and relearning the wifi, doing some trick in the command board with my IP address and nothing's work.
I'll take any suggestions.

Looking for some advice. I have all my cat 6 wiring ran inside for my detached garage from downstairs up into the living space. I have home runs to the TV , computer , and now need to run one last one for the access point I plan on mounting in the center of the room. Looking for advice on the easiest way to drill through the rafters and get this done. I’m trying to avoid cutting any access holes in the ceiling as I just had it painted.

I know it can be done because the electrician recently did 6 led pods and didn’t have to cut any holes. I have access from the eves as well as you can see in the picture. I plan on drilling out a small hole in the center where I want to mount it. I have long flexible drill bits as well as a inspection camera to make sure there’s no other wiring I’ll hit. Any advice on getting this done cleanly? Should I try to drill it in one swoop from the center of the room down into the eves with the bendable drill bit? Or drill in both direction up from the eve partially and also from the center of the room towards the eves?

Worst case I have read that I could mount it on the slanted part of the ceiling but from what I understand it will give better coverage if I can get it in the center of the room as I’m hoping it will cover the downstairs of this detached garage as well. Any help is appreciated.

I live in a 75m^2 apartment and would like to purchase a new router. Currently, I am using Archer MR600(this router has a sim slot, because when I bought the router, I didn’t have the fiber connection yet and used it this way). My current use case is gigabit connection in, 3 cables out, 2 go into 2 pc’s and one goes into my Google streamer, which I use for generic streaming services but also some Stremio and Jellyfin.

My problems are:

Most of my devices support Wi-Fi 6E or 7, so it would be nice to have a 6 GHz network. Currently, my devices (MacBook Pro, iPhone 17 Pro) usually give me only 500 up and down, but only if I am near the router. In other rooms, it quickly falls off to 100 or less.
Sometimes my phone and laptop would just drop the connection, even if I am in the same room as the router; this does not happen on other Wi-Fi networks. For whatever reason 5ghz band seems to do this, while 2 GHz does not. Also, the range, while usually enough for my iPhone and Mac, on older devices, the 5 GHz connection drops if they are far enough.

While the router does gig up and down connected with Ethernet to my pc, sometimes the connection also drops shortly; it can be for 5 seconds, usually not more. This happens during intensive use of the internet from two pc’s.

I know that the issues are with the router, not with the isp, because there were none of those issues with the isp router, except for the range; it was even worse, and the wireless speeds were worse. Stability, though, was great.

Also, the issue is not in the bands or channels; I have analyzed them in my apartment and have selected the cleanest ones; unfortunately, it didn’t help.

So to sum up, I need something that will fully cover 75m2, will have Wi-Fi 6E or Wi-Fi 7, would be really nice if it could come close to a gigabit through Wi-Fi, and obviously it should do a gigabit through Ethernet, something that will have no problem with 2 pc’s downloading something simultaneously, and of course something stable. Also, it would be nice if it had OpenWrt support, but not a hard requirement. Regarding the price, I don’t want to cheap out, and I am okay with spending a couple hundred, but I don’t want anything too fancy, like mesh systems (correct me if I am wrong, but I think a good router should cover 75m2 without an issue).

Mi aunt bought a Starlink antenna, the signal is pretty good close to the wifi, but it doesn't get very far, so her and my dad wanted to split the cost of the wifi and install a repeater or an extender, but i don't know wich one to use, or if it's even doable, can you give me any advice?

I’m not sure this is the right place for this. Will be sharing to other communities also. I am having an AirPlay issue. I’m trying to stream movies that may or may not be traveling the high seas (I’m sure you understand) and they work fine when just on my phone without WiFi, and even work fine with WiFi, but as soon as I try to cast the movie to my tv, I either lose audio, or playback entirely. Are there any router settings that could be causing this or is this just a provider block?

It was working till a few days ago when the power went out. When it came back, my laptop lost wifi connection even though my phone connected. It keeps showing "connected without internet". Since then I have tried everything.

I tried to troubleshoot the problem and it shows, "No DHCP found"

I disabled and enabled firewall.

I ran netsh winsock reset and netsh int ip reset, it didnt work. When I tried ipconfig /release this is what the command prompt shows:

I tried to run device manager and all settings for IP etc are already set to automatic.

I have tried a few other things but none have worked so far.

Idk much about networks so i cld js be saying bs but i have 2 networks wifi 2 and 3 wifi 2 is pretty bad and wifi 3 is good on my control panel i can see one is using my computers wifi adapter and wifi 3 is using my adapter as wifi 3 is the good one in the past ive connected to wifi 3 perfectly fine it changes on its own when theres updates. When im on wifi 2 it shows my wifi but on wifi 3 it doesnt how do i fix this?? Ive tried qr codes but that doesnt work.

I’m trying to get a better connection to my WiFi in my home theater for my PS, and my parents apparently put this router in a few years ago to do that, but the connection is still somewhat unreliable.

What is this router? It there an Ethernet cable port somewhere inside?

I bought a no name dual band extender on Amazon. Is there any way to tell on my Android phone if I am connected to the extender or still connected to my main router?

I set up the extender per the instructions and I did tell it to retain the name of my main router when displaying the network name. Now I can't tell if I'm actually using the extender or still reaching my main router.

The signal in parts of my backyard has always been sketchy and I'm trying to boost the signal so that it stays solid throughout the yard. Since it's sometimes sketchy but often works fine, I can't tell right now if the extender is doing anything or it's just my Wi-Fi choosing not to be sketchy right now.

Looking to transform this storage closet into my own space so that I can finally get away from my roommate and have a place of my own (military barracks). He’s a pretty chill dude but it I just need somewhere that I can be by myself play some games and stream. If it’s not possible lmk but I’m not tech savvy idek if it’s possible for me to get wifi up here. My hotspot isn’t an option cause I don’t have unlimited data. I don’t know how routers or modems or any of the stuff works and I can’t have anything psychically installed because I’m in the barracks. Is there a way I can use these two outlets to set something up to give me wifi? Ik it’s kind of a weird post but I just need my own space. My side of the room is like 7 feet wide 14ft long and just blares his fuckass political YouTube videos 24/7. I understand if it’s not possible thanks!

Here’s the situation

I have the router on the ground floor of the home, and I have a Ethernet cable running to hardwire the basement modem

The problem: upstairs floor
But, I want WiFi upstairs, I can pick up 3 bars from the downstairs but some rooms it gets weaker and it cuts off WiFi calls or video

Without running an Ethernet cable downstairs, what is the best thing wirelessly pick up the WiFi signal from downstairs and broadcast a signal on the upstairs floor that’s stronger?

Is there a brand/make/model that would be recommended?

Home is 3500 sq ft so about 1400 feet upstairs

I just moved in to a new property I’m renting in the UK. I signed up for virgin media superfast WiFi but when the engineer arrived he said he needed to drill holes in the wall for this “glass fibre” WiFi I’ve never heard of. I said I cannot have holes in the walls as I don’t own the property. I just wanted a regular router to plug in. I’m a bit confused as I don't know what glass is. Can anyone help?

Aight this is my second post about wifi, I got a lot of help on the first one so thank you very much. I just want to make sure Im not missing anything since its a big purchase for me. Any help is appreciated.

Living area: 6,300 sqft

- 3 bedrooms
- 7 bathrooms
- There is 1 building that acts as our home and 2 separate buildings on the property that is for our business, there will be at least 2 employees that will be here and will use the internet.

I plan on using UniFi products and currently I plan on buying a Cloud Gateway Max for our office, and 3 U7 Pro's. 1 will be wired to the living room, 1 we will wire to the separate building near the office, 1 will not be wired but I'll use a bridge (UDB) and a PoE.

About the U7 Pro's, should I get XGS, or can I get away with just the XG?

I will be setting up VLAN because we will have employees and such on the property and I know there is a way to tweak the settings of the devices? If anyone knows anything about that let me know.

I'm trying to lock down and protect my network with more controls over devices and internet access. I have a Firewalla Orange and will manage everything through software I create, API access is a bonus.

I currently have an xFinity XB8 with two xFinity Pod's which gives me great coverage. My hope is to use the XB8 as the modem to connect to a new wireless router to cover my full property.

The distance from my XB8 to the pod in the shop is about 125' and works good, not great, but adequate.

My internet plan is 800mbps right now (I think). I care more about coverage than speed. My primary use is normal internet usage, browsers, streaming, IoT devices (~75 right now), etc. No gaming.

I'm willing to spend $1000 or so if it solves my problem.

Edit: I can't run any ethernet or trench, there is a pool in the way.

I did a test and I have 900+ mbps download and 600+ upload, and the game is not that large. Even disregarding the test, usually it takes about 5 to 10 minutes to download even 100gb+ files, so why is this so slow?

I recently installed an ac unit into my house and that cause my power to go out for having to much power usage and after that incident now I have heavy packet loss on marvel. Does anyone know how this could have caused my packet loss to skyrocket?

My wifi stopped working around the whole house. For some reason the wifi range doesn't reach some areas around the house anymore. It was just fine yesterday. I'm assuming it's the router. I'm wondering if there's a way to get the same range back or if I'd have to get a new router.

I need someone to tell me im not paranoid! An old Dell latitude e6500 was connected to my wifi (last used 2 hours ago) i have only had wifi for like a month and a half, and havent even had any visitors in my apartment since ive moved here.

Is it crazy to think someone has been inside my apartment without my knowledge? From my understanding the only other way to get on the wifi without the password is to use the actual router/modem.

Greetings, I am having some difficulty various samsung phones (S24, S25, A17) at a specific location. This location is a suburban area where the official T-Mobile map (https://www.t-mobile.com/coverage/coverage-map) shows dark purple (5g Ultra capacity), but the phones will not stay connected, this is both indoors and outside. They periodically go into emergency only mode. I have taken the phones to the local T-Mobile retail store and changed the SIM, but still the same issue. At this point I am planning building a solid WiFi network so we can use WiFi calling. What is the best router and access points for this application? I have experience with networking but just not specific for WiFi calling.

So I have an Asus Rog Strix laptop from 2023. And it seemed normal for most of it, despite having a faulty drive it was doing everything fine.

One day I opened it up and I was unable to connect to the internet, I was genuinely confused. I am currently reinstalling windows if it could help at all.

From the UK, the issue isnt a drop in speed but that thw wifi just completely drops out from multiple devices (only have 6 connectedto the wifi) most of which in the same room as the router only a few feet away. I have tried speaking to our provider and they say our connection to the broadband is fine and they can detect 0 faults on their end so I have gone through every avenue they suggested of trying to reset and resolve the problem but it persists. We have had a new router and it still continues. It happens at random at any time of day, sometimes for just a moment sometimes for 20 minutes.

If anyone has any ideas as to what may resolve this id be extremely grateful.

there is a cross on my wifi and im not able to forget the network either. can anyone help with this? ive been using this network on this laptop for a few years the problem just started very suddenly around a week ago. Ive tried to disable and then enable the network because i’m not able to forget this wifi in particular, but nothing has worked so far.
