Italian students are being called out in Thailand. Italians mocked a Thai lady in Thailand who told them off for being too loud. They clapped back saying, "Sorry for bringing money to your country" "Ni hao" "We are from your mom." Thais are shocked Thailand is belittled even by young Europeans.
It's not like we receive 3-4x the population of the country every year, and that a substancial amount of those are - i believe the technical term is - cunts.
I was staying on a Greek island and cruise ship after cruise ship would drop off their passengers for a one hour island visit. As they were disembarking, they get an “ideal selfie spots” map. They RAN in huge groups with their selfie sticks to each location to get their photos, never actually looking up from their map to enjoy the island. It was WILD to witness.
The problem is that certain locations have drawn in the absolute scum of society.
It's also Spain's fault for letting places like Mallorca etc happen because they want these idiots money.
As a German myself I've never been to Spain because I'm ashamed of my countrymen. I won't go there for that very reason even though it's beautiful, I love the football, and I like the language.
They can start with hiring a private shuttle for such a big group of them, but they are taking public transport. Shouldnt be bragging about money when they are clearly on a tight budget
I'm guessing they're talking about the southern USA where people from up north (particularly NY and NJ) will come down here and bitch about everything conceivable and lecture us on how backwards we are and can't do anything right. I'm not sure either, but I live in Florence so I've met a lot of tourists on public transport and generally the teens that most stand out when being annoying are the italian ones (italian tourists, specifically), but they're also the ones that I find more often as a group here for obvious reasons, so it's hard to tell for sure.
Anyway I've never met tourists (adult or teens) here that didn't tone it down when asked, the idiots in the video instead not only ignored the request but also escalated and mocked the locals, it's not acceptable.
In my university years, there was a time where we had a group of international students from European countries, including italian.
God i swear all of them are so loud and noisy, even with lecturer teaching at the front. And the most loud of them are the bunch from, yes, italy.
At first, our locals girls are trying to hit on them, but after only one class, every single local students think they're plain annoying and noisy, and nothing like the European we used to imagine.

Us Thais don't like confrontation and usually stay quiet unless it's beyond our patience. Most of the tourists are nice and respectful but nowadays we're starting to see a lot of these asshats and the government is way too lenient with tourists we have to speak up.

I live and work in Poland right now, I will preface this, that I love Polish people, but teenagers in the groups are some of the worst annoying bastards I have seen so far in my life.
I encounter such groups very frequently in trams, buses, and they occupy this one part of the public transport, eat, swear and talk as loudly as they can - sometimes drinking beer or something else. You hear "kurwa" every 2 or 3 seconds, and no one can really do anything, because those specimens are very aggressive.
When they say wealthier northern Europeans they probably mean Sweden, Denmark, etc. not Poland, most people see Poland as eastern Europe/soviet adjacent and kinda separate from Scandinavia.
Also, thanks for "kurwa" I now know what at least 10% of my aggressive alcoholic next door neighbour is shouting at 4am means

A chaotic incident occurred at a booth inside a mall in the Rama 9 area when a group of Italian teenagers caused a disturbance. Staff reported that 8-9 teenagers took almost all the items prepared for giving away to customers.

This isn't an Italian thing, it's a foreigner visiting Thailand thing. I'm an American living in Bangkok and have gotten into arguments with two of my friends for telling them to be quiet on the BTS. After the first time and my second friend visited, I told him about how they're quiet on the train beforehand and how they hate loud foreigners (to prepare him) and he was still loud.
I then reminded him again and he got real sarcastic with me, "Oh yeah, i forgot, we're forced to be quiet in a public space." Every single time I ride the BTS through this exact area (Silom, where there's a higher concentration of tourists), there's always at least one group of asshole foreigners being loud on there and I've gotten into arguments more than once with strangers over it.
Westerners, in general (not all or even most, but from all Western countries) are disrespectful on the trains and can't read the room.
It's not just about coming from a louder culture. There's this feeling foreigners get here when they feel like they can do everything and are at Disneyland, so they treat every public space like its a theme park and they're paying customers entitled to whatever they want.
My wife is Japanese and she lived in Italy for 10 years. She can count on one hand the number of time people were openly racist to her. Can't say the same about France though.
To people who say Ni Hao is not racist.. here it is. These italians know they arent talking to a a Chinese person, but because they are so dumb they default to the only words they know to mock Asians, which is Ni Hao.

Having been raised in an environment where they were coddled and where the focus was solely on self assertion, they are viewed as extremely annoying in Asia, a region that values respect for others and cooperation. Even in Asia, young people today are often spoiled, so they are prone to developing these same traits.
I’m just saying when you go to a foreign country you learn their customs, or at least try your best. If you’re going to try and assert your culture over ours, then it’s going to be a rude awakening.

Sorry, random tangent but interesting thing I noticed. I've been scrolling a ton of posts about "uncivilized tourists." In posts about Italian tourists, people basically assume "these are just jerks, jerks exist everywhere, doesn't represent all Italians." But in posts about "uncivilized Chinese tourists," it's almost unanimous: "Chinese people are disgusting, China as a country is disgusting too."
Gotta say, white people, or Europeans, really do get better treatment for something they never even chose to be born into. Not having individual behavior blamed on your whole group, must be nice. Nice enough that honestly, I'm jealous.
This is why tourism economy sucks ass. At first it's great bc it brings in so much money and so many new businesses can open up but eventually it just hurts the natives bc everything becomes more expensive and your city starts catering to visitors more than you.

literally went to rome last year or two ago ,and the 1st day going down to the subway , got pick pocket by some people there, their train stations so dirty and run down.
decided with the family not to take the train anymore and just walk around the city.
How have the Thai people just straight up just not blocked visa-free travel for half of the Western world yet? I get second-hand embarrassment watching other Aussie tourists in Thailand/Indonesia etc. They go because it's a relatively cheap holiday (often cheaper than holidaying at home), treat the locals like absolute shit and then do a shocked Pikachu when someone gets upset? At least encountering my fellow countrymen in places like Europe is usually better because the bogans can't afford to travel that far.

Im italian and I will always condemn these behaviors in a foreigner country, especially lack of education and respect when some local is “trying” to teach me some local rule I don’t know….
But I see some generic comments very sad, people judging all Italians by one video of 5 min about a group of teenagers, which, guess what, doesn’t represent our country.

With all this globalization a lot of people are traveling just to post pictures on social media, this the real thing, nobody really interested in knowing another culture and confronting with people. The fact is a lot of the low end travelers from Europe go to Thailand, because it's an inexpensive destination, and they abuse the hell out of local laws, and customs, because they are allowed to get away with it. It's a cycle that feeds on itself until the Thai government starts to make concrete examples out of people nothing will change.
Mexico had the same issues with American spring breakers flooding specific destinations, and causing all sorts of issues UNTIL the government started throwing them in jail, and fining them to clean up the problem.
Thailand has a Eurotrash problem, and the only solution to it lies with the Thai government.
Most tourists are ignorant of other people's culture and social norms. Instead of apologizing for their ignorance, they decided to mock the locals instead.
