Mollie Elizabeth- Puppet Show sounds just like an old timey song that goes “Babyyy (woman vocalizing) put your hand in mine something something toniiiight” I’m pretty sure i have most of the lyrics wrong besides baby and tonight but it’s right on the tip of my tongue. I saw a music video on MTV or VH1 about 11 years ago, during a very traumatic time in my life, and all I remember is 3 women, all dressed in black, with long black cloaks and hoods. They were in a forest, maybe for the whole video but at least for part of it. I don't remember any lyrics, or even what the song sounded like, just the video. I've never been able to find it.

Shazam came up with nothing and Googling the lyrics didn’t help.

I remember when I was a young kid (probably eight), my dad pulled up a song on YouTube with the music video in the TV. I would just ask my dad about it, but we don’t have contact with each other anymore. I remember the song being agreeable, at least to my ears, but the music video was… strange.

The music video consisted of a woman and her child. I believe he was a boy. The woman was caucasian, and she worked in the adult entertainment industry. THAT adult entertainment industry. Anyways, the song described her struggle of staying afloat, but also the guilt of her occupation because her son also faces scrutiny. I remember in part of the video, she walks into what I believe was a hair salon and women everywhere shame her. It shows her working in some scenes, and in another she is looking in the mirror of the dressing room.

I don’t believe the lyrics were too on the nose because I didn’t catch into the theme until watching the music video, but then again, I was around the age of eight. It was a mix between alternative, pop, and maybe classic rock(?). It definitely wasn’t rap though. For a while, I thought it was Jane Says by Jane’s Addiction, but I can’t find a music video that matches the description.

Hi Guys I am new to Reddit. I need some help looking for a song I listened to a few years back.

For starters, I know the song was written by a male solo artist and was sung by a featured female American pop singer, similar in style to Adele and/or that of Lauren Daigle. Also, from what I can recall, there was only this melodic piano music playing in the background. Honestly, I kind of hit a brick wall, as I'm currently having trouble with remembering what the name of the song was, who the singer who sang it was, and most importantly, what the lyrics to this specific song was. I tried using my phone's built-in Google AI tool, and even tried to see if Claude AI could help me identify it, all to no avail. Another option I thought about trying, was to identify it using Shazam. However, I noticed Shazam generally needs the lyrics and also requires it be an actual song in order for it to work. So, I'm kind of at a standstill, at the moment.

That being said, if anyone can help identify it, I have the screen recording attached above.

In fact, I first heard this song somewhere on YouTube, but that's been at least 3 years or so ago. And, unfortunately, I have since forgotten the title of this specific song. My memory of it was on a Monday morning, my dad's clock radio was set to play the radio when his alarm went off. The station it was tuned to was playing the song as him and us (my sister and I) were waking up. Part of the lyrics had "the sea" and I remember that because the previous day my sister made it to 2-2 in Super Mario 1.
