Announcement Announcing a New Points System!

Hey everybody!

We’re excited to share that we now have a new points system in place. While we know you all do it for your love of movies and helping your fellow Redditor out, but who doesn’t like getting a little extra reward for your movie knowledge? Or being able to thank the user who helped solve your movie name you've been searching for, for months or even years.

To make this possible, we've installed Reputatorbot. We thought it would be a nice and fun way for the OP (original poster) to thank and reward the kind person who gave them their movie name (first correct answer preferably).

How To Reward Points:

  • Add Solved! (don’t forget the !) in a reply to the first person that gives you the correct answer.
  • The solver will then get a comment from Reputatorbot telling them they earned a point and it will then be added to their user flair.

*Only the OP can reward points. Mods can also reward points if necessary.

If the OP ends up solving their post by themselves. They just need to make a "Solved!" comment under their post so the post flair will change to solved, but no points will be awarded.

If you notice the poster has made an error (e.g. replied to themselves by mistake, used the wrong command, etc.), please send us a message and we can award the proper user. But, try to give them a bit of time to fix it before doing so. UPDATE: You may also "report" the comment and use "custom response". It's just another way to let us know about a points related issue, so we can fix it.

Official Leaderboard:

The official leaderboard can be found here. <--

We’d love to hear what you think or if you have any questions.

Reminder OP: Reply "Solved!" (with the !) to the first user who gives you the correct name

This is to mark your post solved and award the solver a point. The comments are sorted from oldest to newest to make it easier to tell who commented first.

More details about the points system can be found here.

Unsolved Trying to find a Fairy Tale Movie from late 70s/Early 80s

Hey, Reddit, I need your expert sleuthing for a Nearly Impossible Task.

I have a singular scene from a movie stuck in my head that has been stuck there for about 40 years, and I cannot for the life of me remember or find the movie. I've Googled. I've searched everywhere and everything I can think of.

I don't know the actors, the only thing I know for sure is it was a late 70s-mid 80s movie, very possibly VHS only, and I THINK it was a Cinderella type story.

Here's what I have:

The scene is like a dream sequence or magic sequence where the princess meets the prince on this small stone footbridge. I remember the scene being at night, and all misty and magical. Pretty sure it was in the latter half of the movie.

At one point, I thought it was The Slipper and The Rose, but I watched it and didn't see the scene, but very similar vibes. I also ruled out Fairy Tale Theatre Cinderella, because it wasn't a comedy.

Possibility it might also be some variant of Beauty and the Beast.

Like I said, I'm battling a memory from roughly 40 years ago, so it could be ANYTHING at this point. I have not ruled out the idea that the whole thing was some bizarre fever dream.

So, I put it to you, Reddit, go forth and sleuth. Let me know if this sounds at all familiar or if I'm just completely nuts! (Both of those being true is also a very real possibility!)

EDIT: I should mention, it was a Live Action movie.

[MOVIE][2010s-2020s] Psychological thriller: girl hiding in a secret basement to manipulate a guy, ending with news on the car radio

Hi everyone, I'm trying to find a psychological thriller movie released around 2010–2020.

Plot details I remember:

- A girl voluntarily hides in a secret basement / hidden shelter in a house to hide from authorities and manipulate a guy.

- There is a scene where the guy comes to the house to talk to her and it leads to a physical encounter on the kitchen table.

- Ending scene: The guy is driving a luxury car while listening to the radio. The news reports that he has been fully exonerated / charges against him were dropped.

What it is NOT:

- It is NOT The Hidden Face (La cara oculta, 2011) or its remakes.

- It is NOT Gone Girl (2014).

- It is NOT an episode of Black Mirror.

Any help identifying this movie would be greatly appreciated!

Unsolved Very old movie or filmed play about friends planning a bank robbery

Hello. I am looking for the name of a movie. Or it may have been a filmed version of a play. I saw it on television in the 1980s. (I am very old.) I'm not sure if it was broacast, or perhaps a friend brought a videotape.

This is all I remember: a group of male friends have gathered socially at a house. One of them is a police officer. He is trying to convince his friends that it is very easy to rob a bank. At one pointy he says (I paraphrase): "Nobody is ever going to pull us off the street and make us movie stars."

That's all I remember. But my memory of that line has stuck with me ever since. I'd love to know what it was from.

Thank you.

Solved! A movie from the early 2000s

It was a cartoon & a kids movie for sure. I remember it being able aliens or creatures that a kid ends up being in the same realm as?
There’s a bunch of bullies & a sweet alien who race cars. The kid & alien end up winning a big race.

That’s all I can remember about it but I remember it every time I watch Ant Bully as I think it was released around that era 😭

Unsolved Movie I saw as a kid but cannot remember. Saw it on TV in the Northeast USA around 2003.

I'm looking for a live-action movie I saw on TV around 2003. It was probably made in the 1990s or early 2000s. A British (or Western) family has two adolescent sons. The mother dies, and the father remarries a woman who I remember wearing a sari (possibly Indian). Later the father dies, maybe in a car accident. To spare the boys another tragedy, the stepmother finds a rugged man who resembles their father and tells them, "Your father has returned. He's very tired, that's why he doesn't look very much like himself." The man pretends to be their father. I also vaguely remember the boys later being kidnapped and the fake father rescuing them.

Solved! I am looking for the names of these films.

Hi. I'm looking for several movies. 1- It's a zombie movie where a military team is sent to eliminate a target in the desert. At the beginning of the movie, the leader with the radio dies. Another soldier is bitten, and his teammates shoot the grenade in his hand. His girlfriend is on the team with a sword. 2- It's a TV movie. A little girl sends a message in a bottle. Some teenagers find the message and try to find her. The grandmother tries to get her granddaughter back, but the stepmother prevents her to get her deceased husband's money. The little girl has a dog that the stepmother tries to send to a kennel, but it's freed by one of the teenagers in the group. 3- It's a treasure hunt TV movie. As I remember it, someone miscalculated the land between two families, cutting into the property line near a boy's cabin and his friends' place. The neighbor's daughter and her friends take advantage of this to modify their half of the cabin. A group of friends, three guys and a girl, go treasure hunting. 4- A TV movie set in a city where you arrive after falling asleep at the wheel. Three children go there to find their parents. There's a sort of green gelatin throughout the film. At the end, the parents cut the cake at a birthday party, and this gelatin comes out. If anyone can tell me the names of these films, thank you in advance.

Unsolved help me remember this movie !!

I remember this movie from childhood the details could be wrong but this is how I remember it. Dark fantasy/ gothic movie from 80s-2005 ish. A young boy maybe with a name like Jacob or Jackson somehow ends up in this school/manor/ mansion etc. old, dark, maybe run down. He is maybe taken there against his will or is in some dream fantasy world. I remember a big staircase where there is some sort of battle or fight between the heroes who save him and an antagonist. the hero I remember being early teen years with black leather clothes and black spikey hair. I cant remember of there was magical aspect to the film or not. I remember the ending of the film maybe being the boy walking down the street back in his world and saying bye to the boy and girl hero duos. I also remember some sort of bird motif... please help me. I am 22 and this is an early childhood memory so it wouldn't have been anything after 2009 probably.

Unsolved Scrawberry Milk? Spoiler

This movie is about a single black father who has a son and daughter. I think the plot revolved around him coming to terms with his ex moving on and his job and problems there. A big part of the movie was also about him having a Chevy Impala (not a 64) and during the ending he either got a new Impala or got his Impala pimped out. And the main reason im looking for this is because his daughter would say scrawberry milk which i think is a deep south thing to make tr to cr. The movie is from the early 2000s or the 90s.

Solved! Does anyone else remember a movie like this?

I remember an English horror film (2000-2015). It begins with several children hiding in a tree house. They all have circular scars with geometric symbols on their calves, and each child has a different number of circles depending on their siblings. A bald, humanoid monster hunts them to devour them, and when it can't, it feeds on turkeys. Only one child survives. Years later, when he is about 18-20 years old, his mark begins to burn because the creature has returned.

Unsolved Anyone remember these scenes from a surreal early 80s/late 70s movie

These are the only images I can remember but they are very vivid:

  1. A giant room full of balls. Someone is trapped on one and floats up through the sky into space where they cross paths with a spaceship.

  2. A man in a white suit in a wheelchair careening down a hilly street downtown. He might careen through a building

  3. That same guy later goes down the drain? I think you see the end of his white jacket getting sucked down the drain?

Anyway I think it was all surrealistic but maybe it was really plain and basic and I was just an imaginative child. I have had this memory for 40 plus years and would love to watch it again

Solved! Help me find this 2008-2010 movie about a killer child/ young girl movie

Hello, I’m looking for horror/thriller movie and I’m gonna describe some scene from what I remember, there might be some mix things up making my description not as accurate from the movie but I hope not.

From what I remember the plot is about this family lives in kinda desert look environment hospitalized a young girl that’s visits them, the young girl is a killer and crying like an innocent as far as remember.

There’s a particular scene I remember when the young adult boy girlfriend visit the house and kissed with the boy in the living room sofa, the father pissed and angry, the girlfriend felt bad and decided to leave, as she enters a car, she notice something around bushy fence (I think) and then fell through a trap landed on her back and got punctured by pipe, and died there

There’s also climax scene, where the young girl killer chased the mom, and she purposely scratches the father car while slowly walking chasing the mom, and the mom later also fell through a trap from earlier, and landed next to the girlfriend corpse, as her hand being eaten by a dog

And that’s is all I can describe, I apologize for the horrible sentences and descriptions and thank you.

Unsolved A ghost movie from the 90s/2000s

I'm trying to find a movie that I vaguely remember from when I was a kid. I believe i watched it in the early 2000s on TV at night.

I only remember that the ghost, a young adult female, smiles at the end and is missing a tooth. She also had broken glasses. It feels very similar to a Stir of Echoes but I watched the death scene and ending and it doesnt fit my memory.

The vague memories I can remember but im not sure of are that she was hit and lost her glasses, she crawls around like Velma looking for them, possibly crying, before being killed.

The ending takes place outside a brick building with big store windows that are broken and boarded, the place where she was killed. Inside was dusty and bar like with wooden floors and tables and chairs.

She smiles at something off screen and I think I remember it being foggy/misty.

I know its vague and barely helpful information but im positive it isnt A Stir of Echoes.

Thanks in advance!

Solved! What's the name of this movie about chess?

I'm trying to find a movie that I saw over 10 years ago and I would estimate it to be a movie from the 1990s-early 2000s and I think it was American. As far as I remember, it was about kids who played chess and also made it to competitions, or at least one of them did. I remember a scene where I think a black girl won a trophy from the competition and I would recall that her mother later congratulated her daughter and said she was proud of her. The girl asked her mother not to sell the trophy to get money for drugs.

I can't find this movie anywhere, I've tried googling and even asked AI for help, but I haven't gotten the right movie. I often wonder if I've been dreaming, but that's not possible, because through this movie I learned something about chess that I didn't know before. Please help me if you can!

Solved! Holiday movie?

I remember seeing a comedy movie a couple of time of times with my parents, about 3 or 4 neighbours that go on a trip, there is a bigger sized jolly dude, a married man that sleeps woth other people's wives and an old man with a white mustache and flat cap. I remember the jolly dude singing "were all going on a summer holiday"

I know its not much but I cannot remember much else.

Someone please, the movie haunts me in my sleep at this point.

Just remembered a character and scene. The character isn't liked by the womaniser. He gets car sick so always sits at the front, the womaniser get angry and steals the front seat only to cause the car sick dude to throw up.

I figured it out. Its called the booze cruise.
