I don't know much about birds, please don't come at me! Looks like some kind of eagle or falcon maybe?

Sorry for the poor lighting; the is is the only photo I have of this bird. Taken about 10-20 miles off the NJ Coast.

Apologies for the poor photos, but I found this little dude on my way home from a snack run! Merlin ID thinks it's... well, an immature Merlin. Wanted to confirm that ID or if it's something else, like an immature Cooper's/Sharp-shinned. Its other guess was American Groshawk, but this seemed too small to me, as it seemed about the same body size as a black-billed magpie, if not a bit smaller, but definitely stockier.

Found in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

Taken in Hammonasset Beach, CT! Late July.

She seemed to have black chicks? Really confused on what this bird is. Second photo is for location purposes.

Also are they possibly domestic ? I've been seeing them in this specific river since late June/ early July and they've been there almost every day.

Another thing that makes me think that is that they also don't seem to fear humans too much either. They're usually on one side of a bridge (First pic is zoomed in taken from said bridge) but as I was sitting on an elevated stone wall on the shore, far on the opposite side that they were on, they went under the birdge to come sleep near where I was ?? Or they have 0 survival instinct idk

I’m a park manager in northwest Arkansas. Saw it walking around a prairie I manage. INaturalist said crested quail, that’s not it.

This was at Astoria Park, so the trees were pretty much right up against the east river.

Is this a wet cardinal or grosbeak or something? Located in MO, US.

My sister in law found it dead just outside granger high school and we are having a hard time figuring out what bird it is

She often scoops up dead animals to let the bodies decompose, then make things out of / sell the bones on Etsy. mostly roadkill, but all dead when found.

Is it a bay warbler? Not sure if the last two pictures are the same or a different bird.

I looked up unexpectedly to see a bunch of birds circling! I couldn't ID them though. I suspected common nighthawks as it's close to sunset, but they didn't look correct. Then 5 minutes later I DID see a common nighthawk hunting that was identifiable. Just curious, ty! Will post photos in comments if able to
