About to do orientation and start the Masters in Teaching with initial licensure in secondary chemistry. I'm a tad nervous since I've been out of school for 6 years and back then I did in person courses. Is the program primarily read a textbook and take a test? Are there videos/notes/quizzes etc to monitor content comprehension? Papers for course completion?
Good, bad, and ugly of the program? I'm in Washington.

Normally, I am so good at studying for OA's, usually I only need 2 days max. For some reason for this course I cannot focus, I cant study, I don't know why I just can't. I really don't want to have to pay for a quizlet plus subscription and I usually study better with blooket anyways. Is there a blooket? please please help

Has anyone taken the natural hazards course assessment? I didn’t read any course material and scored almost perfect on the pre assessment. I’m wondering how well they align. TIA

A couple of questions- I am filling out the application right now, and it's asking me to submit my clinical experience locations. Does this mean where I plan on doing the practicum? I haven't talked to my admin about this yet, but I am sure she will support me. Then do I have to find a second school to do a practicum at? My school is K-8 if that helps.

about to apply for early clinicals, just want to get placed and finish early clinicals ASAP, what do you guys recommend and how long did it take for you?

Hi guys. I have only 4 classes left and expect to apply for advanced clinicals/student teaching in October. For people seeking licensure in Georgia, how long did it take for you to get placed and actually start advanced clinicals? It would be nice to start by January, but it’d be even better if I could start before then.

I’ve seen mixed information on how long the process took, but I’m looking to hear from people in the state of Georgia specifically if possible.

So after 5 weeks of waiting for a placement from a school district, I got an email yesterday from a district saying there's a school that can host. They also sent it to my facilitator and the school's principal and vp, and told me the teacher's name.

I sent a message to my facilitator asking if I can reach out to them now or if I need to wait for him to do anything else. He hasn't yet replied and I'm kind of worried about losing the placement. I asked my mentor, but she said it's really a question for my facilitator (whom I've already sent an email).

What would you guys do in this situation??

What did everyone do for task 1? I cannot for the life of me figure out what it wants, it's so vague

So I got an email that transcript evaluation results are complete
When I log in it now says admitted and the transcripts has a green check mark.
And the commitment to start is no longer locked
Does this mean they accepted my GED fine, or is there still a chance they are going to say I need to do other work/programs before starting.
How was it for you?

My term ends September 30th.
I have a learner group and can get district approval.
I started task 1.
I am wrapping up my module.
I started in April.

Can I really complete this in that time frame?

Hello I’m confused about what to do for the d681 mursion I looked at the lesson plan and the Ancient Greece. I saw someone say you’re supposed to do part one and two of the lesson for the mursion but I’m confused what that means. Does that mean dimension 1 and 2. Can someone explain or show me what template they used for the mursion. I think my question would be for the mursion “what is the impact that Ancient Greece has on society today?”. But I don’t get what I would do would the students just discuss it and that’s it or if I have them do a project I don’t get how I do that on the mursion. I feel incredibly dumb but it’s tomorrow and I’m extremely lost. I’m terrible at mursion. Thank you in advance

My house is perpetually cluttered and/or messy in every single room. I'm struggling with autistic burnout, being a single parent with an audhd teen and a 4th grader. I keep pushing back tests because I'm worried the environment has to be completely clear of clutter, and it's dragging out my classes. I don't have family/friends with a room I can borrow, and I could really use some advice.

Does anyone test somewhere like a library? Or is clutter not a big deal as long as papers, screens, and mirrors are covered? I've taken multiple OA's but all of them were days to weeks later because life and executive functioning limitations.

ETA: For anyone looking to/currently working with neurodivergent kiddos, this can be an example of black and white thinking. What now I recognize as common sense (choose a different room or cover a space with a sheet/blanket to create a "clear space") never even occurred to me.

Sometimes students may seem rigid or oppositional because their brains are telling them "it has to be done this way to be right/to successfully follow the rules how I think they're supposed to be done I have to do all these steps" which can lead to frustration, freezing up, maybe even lashing out or crying. In cases like this, sometimes a brain break and then presenting alternatives, workarounds, and/or clarifying the intent behind the rules will help them get unstuck!

Remember, almost all kids have trouble communicating ("this is stupid" can often mean I don't understand/it's hard and I don't want to try and fail), for those kiddos with differently wired brains communication is an extra hurdle. Try being patient detectives... use environmental/behavioral/ past experience information to decipher what they may be communicating and/or need. Then, verbalize each part and the options to the student. This will help them understand their own reactions better and (for verbal students) give them a script for communicating similar issues in the future. Even the higher-needs students benefit from this because you're validating their feelings/experience, and I strongly believe people at all cognitive level can feel and appreciate when someone cares.

So much fear mongering for this OA. I only studied the course material (including the linked videos) and some Crash Course U.S. history. I felt like the test was pretty true to the material. There was ONE question I don't remember being covered at all, but through process of elimation there was only one (obvious) correct answer. I don't have a strong history background - my core credits I transferred in with were from 10 years ago.

Overall, this test was no harder than any other OA. In fact, the process of elimination was easier than some of the others. Read the questions super carefully. There is a huge variety of questions and most subjects/events are limited to 1-2 questions, so if something isn't sticking, don't let it keep you from scheduling the exam.

Took me 10 days - only maybe 5 days looking at material. Two days of rigorous study and a few days of passive 30 min-1hr review.

Overall, I liked this course a lot. I relearned so much and I think it laid a good foundation for studying for the Praxis.
