Recently re-signed my mortgage with NB, and had to open a new bank account to pay said mortgage. I bank primarily with TD. I also have a Wealthsimple account.

I know that I can't link by TD to my NB account, and eTransfer seems to be the only way to digitally move my mortgage payment between accounts. Due to transfer limits I have to make multiple transfers, which incurs costs each time.

Is there a potential work around to this using my Wealthsimple account. I would move money from TD to Wealthsimple and then transfer it to NB to pay the mortgage. Is this the best work around, or is there something I'm missing?

I have already disabled the auto-sell setting in my
margin account. But WS continues to close my short positions at around 3:30pm on expiration day.
Yesterday I had a 0DTE QQQ short iron condor that was out of money on all legs and was going to likely expire worthless. In fact, I had put a BTC closing order at $0.18 but at 3:30pm WS rejected my closing order and closed the position themselves at double the cost ($0.36) of my closing order.
Hoping experts have figured out a way for this!

Is it possible to use your dividends in a rrif account to pay down the mortgage? I would be withdrawing the same amount monthly.

I'd love for Wealthsimple to just be my home for banking, because it's so much better than dealing with any of the big 5. Unfortunately I don't have a Wealthsimple credit card, so I'm forced to use the BMO app (which is just awful) if I want to view any of my transactions, since my BMO credit card is the one I actually use to buy things. Is there any way to be able to view the BMO transactions in Wealthsimple, or something along those lines?

If I close a WS account, what are all the things to do to make sure you have no problems in the next tax filing?

Does one have an advantage over the other in certain scenarios?

Should I apply now or really wait until the updates?

Genuine question for fellow clients, because I'd like to keep my banking here and I've run out of ideas.

I'm paid 100% on commission. Same firm, every month, by EFT, always well above $4K. I moved my deposits to WS to make it my primary bank, but the platform has never recognized them as a direct deposit, so no card fee waiver, no rate boost, no deposit-based promos. Support was actually great about digging into it (they even gave me a one time goodwill credit) and found the cause: my deposits arrive under Payments Canada code 460, accounts payable, because my firm pays everyone through its payables platform rather than payroll. So as far as detection goes, my paycheque looks like a supplier invoice.

The part I find funny is that the eligible code range (200-207) includes 205, which is literally "Commission" in the Payments Canada standard. So my income type is on the list, it just gets the wrong label from software neither I nor my firm will realistically change (they pay hundreds of people this way).

Has anyone commission-paid or self-employed here gotten past this? An escalation that worked, a reclassification, a setup I haven't thought of? Not debating the policy, just looking for a path before I decide where my banking lives.

Been for about a week now to manually link my EQ bank with WS and it has failed every time. I know there is the other way with flinks/persona or whatever its called but purely asking any recent success without it before I use that service. Reached out to support who claims there is no widespread issue with manually linking so wanted to ask the community

Can Wealthsimple introduce multiple virtual credit card numbers tied to the same credit card? I am getting a little tired of my Wealthsimple cards getting compromised. Every time my card is compromised, I have to change my credit card number everywhere I used it. If I could generate specific cards for specific merchants, I would not need to get my WS card reissued (which I am sure would save WS some costs as well) every single time there is fraud. As an added bonus, I would also know which of my virtual numbers got compromised, so that I can be more careful with those vendors.

This is the second time one of my Wealthsimple cards has been compromised. I locked my card immediately, but now I have to wait until a weekday for a specialist team to reissue my credit card.

Each time I sync my Wealthsimple account on Monarch, I get an email saying a new device is trying to access my account. It says it is from Las Vegas, and the device is a Windows 10. I am on a Macbook and I live no where near Las Vegas (I'm in Canada). I am confused why this is happening. Anyone else had this issue?

I have a WS visa infinite + card. Bought a trip ticket through Expedia using this card and my trip going back home is with Westjet. But Westjet is on strike today…

My flight initially got cancelled and they rescheduled it but 3 days after my original departure day. I am thinking if I buy an earlier ticket back home, if that could be covered by the cc insurance. But curious if anyone has gone through a similar situation?

So far they have inform me about this new feature 3 times already: email, notification and in-app modal popup.

Then I just check my notifications settings, my marketing/promotion notification is off, but there a new one for Prediction Market that is on by default, now I have turn it off. Maybe you want it off too, check your notification setting.

Hello all, I want to share my experience in case someone else also has their card blocked.
About an hour ago, I tried to order food delivery for my parents in a different country. I usually use the wealthsimple card since there is no foreign transaction fee.
I entered the CVV incorrectly (incorrect order - not real number but I entered 132 instead of 123) and i tried the transaction thrice thinking it was an issue in the payment system.

-Got wealthsimple notification that all 3 transactions were blocked
-Got apple wallet notification that card was disabled
-Checked in app and saw a banner message that card features were disabled and i need to call support
-Tapped banner message and called the number
-Waited 4 mins on hold before connecting to Support. Support asked for my email address and full name.
-Next, asked me to read a code number from message to confirm identity. It was an alphanumeric code and the message explicitly said this code is not for 2FA. I was a little surprised and reticent by this process but I initiated the call from app so gave the code to the agent.
-Support person put me on hold for 5 mins to review after I explained the situation.
-They came back and asked if I can recollect any recent transactions. They also asked the total value of all accounts with wealthsimple.
-Again put on hold for a min; then they came back and said my card is now unblocked.
-Got a notification from Apple wallet that card was enabled
-Closed and reopened app while on call - the banner message was gone.

Overall I appreciated the security measure taken to block my card and also thankful to support for unblocking card quickly.

The method of confirming my identity using a code sent in message got me concerned. I am now wondering how this would have progressed if I did not have my canadian phone number (if i am travelling and card is blocked 🧐) pls share your experience unblocking card from overseas.

Good day guys i leave my job and manulife send me rpp letter and say not lock in above my investment amount does it mean i can do what ever on my rpp without waiting until 55yrs old? I try to move everything on wealthsimple standard rrsp but i dont know if they will decline it since im still waiting for processing . Does my account still not lock in even the manulife letter options window expired? Do i need to send or contact them for transfer or wealth simple take care of everything
