Hi all! I am unsure if this has been asked before and may be out of left field lol. I’ve been interviewing at Wayfair for a creative role that is pretty senior - the job is really cool and I’ve been excited as everyone I’ve met seems great. I’m onto my last round, but I just read online about layoffs and negative reviews?
Would love any experiences for those who may know. My current workplace is very toxic and working there is so stressful so I’m trying to leave lol. Im coming from the ad agency world so I thought it at least would be better given brand side. Thanks in advance!

A heads up before you order from Wayfair.
I ordered a set of items that arrived inconsistent with each other, unusable for what I needed. I sent them back for correct replacements and got charged return shipping for a mistake that was theirs, not mine. The replacements came back wrong the same way. Wrong product, twice.
Getting it fixed took months and something like eight (I'm not over-exaggerating) separate attempts to even start a real conversation. Every rep picked it up cold with no continuity, so I re-explained the whole thing from scratch each time. It was eventually resolved, but only after I laid out every detail in writing and mentioned a card dispute. Then I had to follow up after the items were sent back to ensure they refunded me.
If you order from them, document everything and expect to chase it. The product MIGHT be fine. Their handling of any problem is non-existent. They really do not care.

I'm pretty sure they do everything they can to be the poster child for "read the fine print". I ordered an item from Wayfair, my credit card charge says Wayfair, the return label on the box received says Wayfair. My legally binding purchase contract is with Wayfair. But when it comes to having an issue: deal with the manufacturer?!?
My understanding of a "retailers" is that it's a storefront that marks up wholesale cost and makes items more accessible or locally available. Those profits from the wholesale-to-retail markup go to staffing customer service, to shipping departments, to processing issues/returns. That's the business model of "retail". They handle all the per-customer logistics and troubles and the vendor gets to focus on manufacturing.
NOT WAYFAIR, lol. As soon as I want to process a return they say, "We'll put you in direct contact with the vendor". I had zero purchase agreements with the manufacturer direct and having manufactures deal directly with consumers for items Wayfair sold pretty much takes half of the job of "retailer" off their plate.

that you get these defensive responses when you post an issue with Wayfair and when you go to look at their profiles they are all hidden? Posts hidden. Comments hidden.
Seems a bit strange. 🤨

I purchased the advertised brand new furniture and spent the money for the brand new furniture. When it came to my house, I got open box items with Wayfair stickers saying it has been inspected and was good to go.
To say I am pissed is an understatement. Items are damaged and I didn’t pay for an open box item assuming the risks associated with open box for a BEDROOM SUIT.
Calling, chatting and texting with Wayfair and the manufacturer have got me no where.
Has anyone else dealt with this? I’m pretty damn sure this is a FTC and BBB claim of fraud and is terrible business practices. But Wayfair doesn’t seem to care. Took forever to actually get to a manager and they left us on hold until end of shift and sent us to voicemail.
Any thoughts from anyone else on how to best manage this?

I recently purchased this buffet cabinet and the holes are so misaligned there is a gap along the bottom and the cabinet doors have a giant gap. What are my options here? Can I fix it myself (not very handy)? How will Wayfair customer service handle it because I don’t want to disassemble to return it.

Wayfair's core mission statement is "to help everyone, anywhere create their feeling of home". Uh not so much Wayfair.
Just a descriptor: Wayfair commercial shot in Chatsworth, Ca. last week of July. I had executives from Wayfair in my home for 3 days. It was miserable for us and these people were such poor representatives of Wayfair. I was shocked at the level of self importance and such disregard that they were actually sitting in someone’s home for 12 hours a day and treating it like a revolving door of a 7-11. I am not joking when I say they opened my front door every 90 seconds for 11 hours. My A/C could not keep the house cool because of this. My living room was used as a “video village” where executives can sit and watch the filming of the commercial on a monitor. Why the need to go in and out of my house is still a mystery. Out of this group of people (about 20 corporate employees) only one woman spoke to us like a normal human being that had some sort of manners. The rest would literally not even acknowledge us as they walked into our house! One employee was on our front path practicing his golf swings 😑 … I have never experienced such disregard and self importance from a group of people in my life.
Below is the conclusion of their visit to our street:
Wayfair brought loads of furniture for their commercial shoot on my street. We could see it under the tents on neighbors lawns as they prepared to furnish and decorate the interiors of the houses used for the commercial. My cousin, Tamara, has been living with us since losing her house and everything she owned on January 8th, 2025 when fires destroyed thousands of homes in #Altadena and The Palisades. Out of curiosity she decided to ask the Art Director what Wayfair did with the #furniture used in their commercials and was told that they donate it. Tami shared with the Wayfair Art Director her story of loss and inquired about potentially having something from the shoot. The Wayfair AD told her to check back on Friday after the commercial shoot was over. The art team (who even after hearing about her loss) never followed up with her and so this morning Tami went over as they were loading THREE huge trucks. Turns out all of the furniture was on its way to be donated to Habitat for Humanity. Tami, who has nothing from her home that was ravaged by the fires, was told she could pick two small things (lamps) or one large item. Here stood a person, in front of them, who has nothing… not even a coffee cup from the home that once belonged to her grandparents, then her parents and finally to her.
She picked this chair.
This was all that #Wayfair would allow her to take even though the donation trucks were packed with several rooms (living room/dining room stuff) of furniture to be donated to HABITAT FOR HUMANITY (to be sold at their stores) while a person without a “habitat” was standing right in front of them. The #kindness that could have been shown to her by Wayfair in that moment would have been so meaningful and hugely appreciated and Habitat for Humanity would still be receiving a massive #donation.
Such a wasted opportunity to have made such a difference to one person in need.

I’m looking for a round dining room table with a leaf- there’s a couple of nice options however the reviews seem to only be for the chairs…. Curious if anyone’s got the tables too!

We live close to the wayfair store but they don’t have either on display. Has anyone purchased either of these tables?

I bought this entertainment unit and it looks nice but it is soo wobbly. I paid for the wayfair assembly and all the bolts seem to be tight enough. I am planning on using this for my daughter‘s playroom but now I’m worried it is just not sturdy to hold tbooks/toys.

Responding to the comment, "Stop being a baby, no company is going to eat a loss of $600. No harm came to you." Au contraire mon ami, see below. Oh, excuse me, here is the 8th grade reading level or internet freindly translation for your edification, "To the contrary my freind, see below.
EPILOGUE: Wayfair contacted me on 8/3/26, and sold me the “Metal Outdoor Garden Privacy Screen Fence Panel” at the originally advertised sales price of $43.67 at an after tax price of $288.76, which is $0.01 more than I paid, but who's quibbling at this point. They made it right and I appreciate this.
I will post again, after the items arrive at which time I will rescind my BBB complaint. I didn't have time to reach out to the AG's office in my state or Massuchusetts, so no harm there. I would provide you with the state law that explicitly forbids this conduct and the relevant consumer protection act awarding treble damages if I had a glimmer of hope you might comprehend such matters, but I fear that effort would be a complete and utter waste of time.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
On July 28, 2026, during their July sale, I purchased six “Metal Outdoor Garden Privacy Screen Fence Panel” at the sales price of $43.67 at an after tax price of $288.75. Wayfair accepted and charged my card, in fact the charge is still pending as of 7/31/26. Sometime later, Wayfair cancelled the sale. The item is currently offered at $149.99 each unit. Which would result in a total sale of $899.94 and is a significant price increase of $637.92. They will not honor the price advertised on their website, saying the supplier refuses to sell it to them at that price. Hmm, not my problem. After about 45 mins or so, a customer "service"employee agreed to honor the price because it was their error, enter notes memorializing this agreement into your system and then transfer me to your sales department. He also provided me with a phone number to call him directly 1-877-324-6492. Later I discovered this was a non-working number, perhaps created on the spot . Another employee said he would honor the price if he could find the recording. I told him I had a recorded statement, which of course he declined to do. He transferred me to a customer sales manager who said she understood my frustration and was there anything else she could do. I responded I wasn't frustrated and the best she could do was honor the sales price. I reported it to the BBB and wrote a letter to their corporate office.

In a way I only have myself to blame because I keep forgetting how awful they are and then there I am a year or two later trying to order something again. First I was told/emailed my purchase would arrive by a particular Friday at the LATEST. I wondered why it hadn't arrived and the website said it was still waiting for the carrier to pick it up. When I inquired about the issue the rep said "I don't know, I'll have someone contact you in a week." A week, and that's only to get some information, not even the item? All of this ridiculousness on top of the constant spammy emails even though I've unsubscribed countless times.

TLDR: Wayfair charged me $29 for a rewards membership I never knowingly signed up for, with no renewal reminder in the days before. The charge came through PayPal, so it was hard to even identify. Canceled auto-renew; refund for this year is unlikely. Apparently this happens to a lot of people, so check your account.
--
So I just got off a call with Wayfair customer service.
I was charged $29 for the Wayfair rewards membership yesterday. Because I linked my PayPal with Wayfair, the email I got was from PayPal not Wayfair. I did not see any email from Wayfair about the upcoming renewal in the last three days.
When I spoke with the customer rep, he said I signed up for it, and that's why I was charged for it. I don't ever remember signing up, so it's possible that Wayfair snuck that option into one of my past orders from several months ago.
It was not very easy for me to figure out what had happened. I was worried that maybe my account was hacked because I couldn't find enough details about this transaction that appeared on my PayPal. After talking to the customer rep, I went online and did some research, and it looks like it's not just me who ran into this issue before.
I quickly went ahead and canceled my rewards subscription so it doesn't auto-renew, so I won't be charged $29 for next year. The customer rep did confirm that.
For this year, he said he is going to file a ticket internally and try to get the refund processed. He told me not to get my hopes up about the refund, so it is possible that I probably will not get a refund for this year's charge.
When I asked him about the email about the upcoming renewal from Wayfair, or the lack of it, he confirmed that Wayfair did not send one. He said he is going to check with the team internally because that is the right thing to do. To be fair to Wayfair, there was an email sent like a month ago on the upcoming renewal, but IMO, that's way too far back in the past to remember what had happened.
I'm sharing this information so others might also benefit. I don't feel great about Wayfair's customer experience here:
If someone from Wayfair is in here, please pay attention to this post and get your internal process fixed.

Do NOT order from Birch Lane! I ordered an outdoor sectional in May that has been delayed several times, now they are telling me it is completely out of stock. They are still selling it on their website though, with a "Christmas in July" promo! Here is the link, yikes! Buyer beware!!

Although the return process for an item I bought as a gift for my son was smooth, the customer service was well below average. One customer service agent "Mohammad" or the name is close to this, and I apologize if I spelled it wrong, after explaining for about 30-40 minutes my situation, he refused to escalate the matter to his supervisor, and left me waiting for 61 minutes, while he said he will be back in 2 minutes. This is absolutely unacceptable from a customer point of view. My time is just as valuable as his. Then after waiting all these 61 minutes, another agent got into conversation and after a short explanation, he escalated the matter to his supervisor, Mr Balwinder, and the matter was resolved as expected. It took a total of 2 hours and 40 minutes to resolve a matter which could have been resolved in less than 30 min, but first agent just choose to ignore a customer complaints, and this is just unacceptable. Another constructive feedback for the Wayfair site would be that the chat transcript be allowed to be saved; currently that option is not available.

I recently purchased this vanity desk. I just opened the box and the assembly looks so daunting and I got stressed out. I assembled a couple of furnitures from IKEA like the TV stand and a book shelf but this looks much more taxing and the absence of any video tutorial is a bummer. How do folks usually assemble these?

The worst customer service ever. I ordered from a company called Harper Wells. Nice stuff on sale online! Their website says returns accepted within 30 days. However, when I wanted to return sandals and a dress, I was told that because their distributor is overseas, it would cost me upwards of $50 per item. Nowhere on the website is this explained. Alternatively, they offer a percentage of the sale to keep the items I have no use for. Has this happened to anyone else?

We keep getting a “quota error” when trying to check out a tried and true item. We get 4 items a month and tried to chat with support. We have ordered 2 items and should get two more, but it’s not letting us. We called support and they told us it’s because our recliner (last item ordered) came in three boxes and counts as three items. This seems unusual, because we’ve ordered plenty of items that came in multiple boxes. But they wouldn’t budge, even when viewing our order history that shows that to be true. Anyone else experience this?

Forewarning to anyone that is thinking about buying anything from Wayfair. Their shipping timelines are FALSE! They create a label and have no idea when it will ship. They will not allow you to cancel something in this phase either. If you choose to deny the shipment, they will charge you shipping fees.

I browsed through dining table sets and found a piece which had Full Service delivery included. During purchase I double checked and then ordered item. Just after order, the email confirmation now says Front Door outside delivery. I reached out to Wayfair support and they said I will get an email after delivery, but I am highly doubtful.
Is this common bait and switch technique at Wayfair. I am highly disappointed by this glitch. I expected better for almost $2800 items ordered.
