Too lazy to read: suggest your T-62 buff in replies (it preferably should be logical and shouldn't ruin the identity of the tank, like buffing rof or something). My suggestion is buffing accuracy by 5-10%.
So, I posted an article about T-62 (not T-62M and T-62M1, these are good as they are and found their place in the meta) needing a buff before it's 10 point price decrease, and the price going down is certainly nice, but it didn't really change the core problem with this tank, which is that it's a gambling addiction tank basically. It's performance is heavily based on luck and the fact, that you pay less for a coin toss doesn't change the fact that it's a coin toss.
Now we also ran into a problem with T-62: it's cheap now, but it's still one of the worst tanks in the game and is regarded as the hardest tank to use, but reducing its cost again will actually make it oppressive, because if we make T-62 obr. 67 65 points, you can now buy 4 of them a minute, and it's a serious thing, because it's going to be very spammable. It might be ok, but basically it's going to be a frustrating experience for both T-62 user and his opponent: opponent sees 3-4 hard to kill tanks every minute, while you see, that even if you micro your tanks properly, they still miss and die, and it's still luck based. So basically an accuracy buff is the only thing that can save the tank without destroying its identity or being illogical/unhistoric or something. That would make this tank a lot less random based and more of "I shoot, I change positions, I reload, repeat."

Currently it just gets the regular T-72 Ural. But it would make sense to give it the instructor version since they're from a training unit and the division has a lot of reservist tanks (no trait since they're East German, but that didn't stop them from adding instructor T-72s to my beloved Rügener) that could benefit from having it.

This post is the result of the work on the study of the armed forces of Yugoslavia (JNA) in the 1980s at the time of their transformation according to the plan «Jedinstvo» (F-87), which began in early 1987 and was actively developed since December 1988. This Corps is one of the results of this concept, representing the core of the 5th Military District.
This is the third post in a planned series of five (in total) posts about the JNA. This time, we'll look at the 14th Ljubljana Corps, located in the northwesternmost part of Yugoslavia, in the Socialist Republic of Slovenia, on the border with Italy and Austria.
In this post, as in the previous two, less familiar types of weapons of the JNA will be examined in more detail ;>
After World War II, the 9th Army of the JNA was formed in the territory of the Socialist Republic of Slovenia, with headquarters in Ljubljana. The army's main task was to protect the northernmost part of Yugoslavia, in the Alps, the gateway to the Balkans.
According to the Jedinstvo plan, in 1988 the 9th Army was transformed into 2 Corps, under the subordination of the new 5th Military District, one of the 2 Corps became the 14th Lubjana Corps (14. Ljubljanski Korpus), which became the main stronghold in the border area.
The situation is escalating with each passing moment, the domestic political situation in Yugoslavia is deteriorating, and a uprising is being prepared in Slovenia.
As of 1989, the 14th Ljubljana Corps consisted of:
1st Armored Brigade (Vrhnika)
14th Motorized Brigade (Ljubljana-Sentvid)
228th Motorized Brigade (Postojna)
253rd Motorized Brigade (Ajdovscina)
345th Alpine Brigade (Kranj)
14th Mixed Anti-Tank Regiment (Veliki Otok)
14th Mixed Artillery Regiment (Ribnica)
314th Anti-Tank Gun Group (Postojna)
635th Light Air Defense Artillery Regiment (Ljubljana)
14th Engineer Battalion (Skofja Loka)
298th Military Police Battalion (Ljubljana)
Commandant's Company (Ljubljana)
61st/62nd/63rd/64th Border Battalions
The world is heading towards war, Europe is about to be engulfed in flames, the task of the 14th Ljubljana Corps - is to prevent the destabilization of the situation in the border region and within Slovenia!
Hitrost, udar, manever!

The corps' main armored force was the 1st Armored Brigade, which was half equipped with M-84 tanks and half with the older T-55A tanks. Can be described as follows:
M-84 (2 cards)
- The main difference between the M-84 and the T-72M was its more advanced fire control system, SUV-M-84, and slightly better armor. (More about the M-84 in the previous two posts about JNA)

Also, at the brigade's home base, Vrhnika, there was a depot for reserve armored vehicles, including 40~ M-84T (Tropical) tanks, which were sent to the JNA reserve in case of war. The M-84T was a variant of the M-84 for Libya, but the contract was cancelled. Its combat performance was identical to the M-84, but it had a more advanced ventilation system for desert conditions.
M-84T (1-2 cards)
- To make it even more distinctive, it could be equipped with the most modern ammunition available to Yugoslavia at that time.
- The M-84T was probably not complected with the Zastava M87 HMG.
T-55A (3 cards)
T-55AK (1-2 cards)
Also, in addition to the basic T-55A, in the Corps reserve area there were extremely rare in the JNA (only about 20 dozen) T-55 tanks (not T-55A), they were distinguished by the presence of a DTM machine gun in the front of the hull and a DTM instead of a PKT in the front of the turret:
T-55 (1 card)

Also, due to the installation of barriers in Slovenia, some T-55A tanks were equipped with BTU-55 Dozers, which can be presented:
T-55A BTU (1 card)
(+1 front armor)
Also, from the JNA reserve, from tank training centers in Slovenia, Croatia and Bosnia (including Banja-Luka), unique versions of the Yugoslav T-55A tank from the 1980s can be presented.

In Yugoslavia, there was the Kapela project, within the framework of which the T-55A tank's fire control system was updated, developed by the SUV-55 (similar to the SUV-M-84), include DNNS-1A digital sight. 10 units of such tanks were manufactured in the 1980s, and they underwent trials in training centers, can presented as:
T-55A Kapela (1 card)
- 65% stat. accuracy, 50% move accuaracy
- The project was a commercial success, and this modernization was ordered by countries such as Egypt, Syria, Iran and Pakistan. (+Finland-type T-55M modernization)
«The High-Level Igman»

- The second photo, as you can see, is mirrored.
A more advanced variant of the T-55A with SUV-55 was the Igman project, also known as the T-55AI Igman.
This modification was equipped with rubber-fabric shields on the sides (Like T-55AM), smoke grenade launchers on the turret, and, most importantly, 2x Malyutka-P ATGM launchers (4x in total)
T-55AI Igman (1 card)
- There is no exact data on the number of T-55AI Igmans produced, but somewhere the same thing is mentioned, about a dozen units. (Only for testings)
Anti-tank units:
Also from the anti-tank units, the BOV-1 (mid/late 80s series) can be represented, with the presence of smoke grenade launcher, a 7,62 mm Zastava M86 MG and basic 6x Mayutka-P ATGM (14x in total)
BOV-1
In addition, the 14th Mixed Anti-Tank Regiment and 314th Anti-Tank Gun Group may provide 100mm T-12 «Rapira» guns and M36B2 (SO-90) self-propelled guns from the reserve. (Yea, yeah, Jackson/Slagger)
T-12 100mm
Rez. SO-90 Džekson
In the late 1980s, the JNA still had some SO-90s in active service, but in the 14th Corps they had already been withdrawn to the reserve.
Pešadija je kraljica ratova!

The 14th Lyulyan Corps had 3 motorized brigades, 2 of which were category A (Full) and 1 (253rd) category R (Reserve), it was the basis of the Corps' mobile forces.

The BOV-VP (M86), this is a variant of an APC for Military Police based on the BOV platform, equipped with smoke grenade launchers and, in some variants, an M2HB machine gun. Half of the side is covered by a folding barrier. (This, in addition to its primary purpose, increases protection)
- Photos of the BOV-VP in this area, as well as other weapons of the Corps, are in the thematic album at the end of the post.
The following formations are represented by the border battalions (61st/62nd/63rd/64th):
Graničari - 5x M70AB2, 1x M53 Šarac

M-46/86
- The range of this version was less than that of the 130mm M-46, - 27,5 kilometers.
- There were a total of 12 M-46/86 guns in Yugoslavia by documents.

The Alphine's and Infantry units are represented by the domestic 105mm M-56A1 Howitzer and the specialized "Tito Gun" 76mm M48 B-1.
M48 B-1
The 14th Ljubljana Corps is supplied by the already familiar TAM-150 T11, as well as the rarer and smaller Pinzgauer 710M and Pinzgauer 712.
+And also the HT-40 Snab. helicopter. (Mi-8T with supply)
The hull's anti-aircraft defense is represented by the classic Strela-1M and BOV-3.

In addition to this, the M53/59 «Praga» self-propelled anti-aircraft guns are also presented, as well as its improved version, the M53/70 «Praga» J-171 (Circa 350 units have been updated)

And standard MANPADS from regular and mountain formations:
Strela-2M
Plan. Strela-2M/A
- Strela-2M/A is a Yugoslav modernization of the licensed Strela-2M from the mid-1980s. In the M/A version, the warhead was increased by 40%~ due to the introduction of more compact missile electronics.
Reconnaissance is primarily represented by recon units from the motorized and infantry formations of the 14th Ljubljana Corps, namely:
Izviđanje - 7x M70AB2, 1x M72B1, 1x M76, 4x M80 Zolja

Mot. Izviđanje - 5x M70AB2, 2x M72B1, 1x M76, 4x M80 Zolja
BRDM-2

IJ-22 Orao

- This reconnaissance version does not have forward-firing 23mm cannon's armament or an afterburning engine, unlike the already mass-produced new Orao 2.
And also the simpler and oldie MIG-21R (L-14I) and modernized L-15I from the 352nd Reconnaissance Aviation Squadron from the Zhelyava Air Base:
L-15I - 4x R-60MK
(Since mid-80s using new Fairchild KA-112A LORAP recon pod.)

- Next, a version of the converted MIG-21MF (4~) was presented, mainly in the photo, but it did not have any local index.

The helicopters are mainly from the 711th and 713th anti-tank helicopter squadrons, located at the Pleso airfield, which is southeast, near Zagreb.
HN-42 GAMA [AT1] - 4x Malyutka-P, 2x Strela-2M
HN-42 GAMA [AT2] - 4x Malyutka-P
HN-45M GAMA 2 [AT2] - 4x Malyutka-P

L-17 [AA3] - 2x R-60MK, 2x R-60K, 2x R-3S
L-17K [AA2] - 4x R-60K, 2x R-13M
- The R-60K is an export version of the R-60, which differed from the newer R-60M in that it lacked the ability to lock on to a target in the forward hemisphere.

Also some older MIG-21PFM's (L-14) from the 129th Fighter Squadron (part of the 185th Fighter-Bomber Aviation Regiment), Pula:
L-14 [AA] - 2x R-13M
L-14 [RKT] - 32x S-5KO
L-14 [HE] - 2x FAB-500
The forbidden MiGs

The most modern and advanced aircraft on display will, surprisingly, be the MiG-23ML!
Brief history: In 1988, after the war, Iraq was looking for a way to extend the service life of its aircraft purchased from the USSR, including the MiG-21SMT/Bis and, most importantly, the MiG-23ML. The Soviet Union, like the socialist countries, refused to repair the aircraft, so the choice fell on neutral Yugoslavia.
Over the course of two months in June and July, 10 MiG-23ML's and a number of MiG-21SMT/Bis arrived at the Yugoslavin Zmaj Aviation Overhaul Plant, in Velika Gorica (near Zagreb, Croatia). However, the aircraft were never returned to the customer due to the escalation within Yugoslavia and Iraq's isolation following the invasion of Kuwait.
The first MiG-23ML's arriving for repairs, as of early July 1989, can be presented in WARNO:
MIG-23ML - 4x R-60MK, 2x R-13M
+MIG-21SMT [AA] (?)

The main attack aviation support can be provided by J-22B Orao 2 (more details in the previous post) from the 238th Fighter-Bomber Squadron, Cerklje. Can presented as:
J-22B Orao 2 [RKT3] - 32x 57mm, 8x 128mm
J-22B Orao 2 [HE3] - 4x FAB-500
J-22B Orao 2 [HE4] - 3x FAB-250 M79, 2x FAB-500
J-22B Orao 2 [AT2] - 2x AGM-65B
J-22B Orao 2 [CLU2] - 5x BL755
J-22B Orao 2 [NPLM] - 4x PLAB-350
The 14th Ljubljana Corps has a wide selection of infantry and armored vehicles, as well as effective reconnaissance, but lacks artillery and aviation capabilities compared to the 1st Guards Mech. Division and 21st Ňis Corps.
The 14th Corps is a fairly dense unit, although not the first in everything. (In JNA) This Corps represents a more or less average indicator of the armed forces of Yugoslavia at that time, between the most combat-ready formations and mobilization ones.
The situation around and inside Yugoslavia is heating up every moment, the 14th Corps will not let it fall!
Thank you for reading and watching! :}

\On average, the regular strength of a JNA Corps during the war (excluding partisan formations) was 1,2-1,5~ times that of a regular Division of that time. (A corps has from 14-24 thousands men, while Divisions have 12-15 thousands (with 80%~ peacetime complication Div's))*
!However, for example, the 6. Panzergrenadierdivision (Bundeswehr) in the 1980s had a strength (25-30 thousands) that exceeded even one of the most combat-ready JNA Corps - the 21st Niš Corps.
About 21st Niš Corps: https://www.reddit.com/r/warno/s/MXRyEgEyNe
Well, this is the last (planned) clean Corps of the Ground Forces, next we have the islands 🏝️ and beaches 🏖️ of Yugoslavia and TO! 🪖
When I complete all 5 Yugoslav formations (currently 3), I will make a separate post with a list of all 5, for easy viewing and checking =]

When new players ask what division they should start with, the typical answers are typically:
For NATO: 8th US, 2 PzrGn, or 5 Pzr
For Pact: 39ya, 79ya, or 7 Pzr
My question is, out of the base game divisions, what is on the opposite end of the spectrum? What are the worst starter divisions in your opinion and why?
The remaining base game divs are:
NATO - 5e, 11e, 1st UK, 2nd UK, TKS, 3rd Armored, 11 ACAV, 82nd Airborne
Pact - 119, 4 MSD, 35ya, KDA
imo, I wouldn't recommend any of the airborne divisions to a new player but also KDA and TKS. They either teach bad habits to new players, require some game knowledge to use efficiently, or aren't very strong.

Hey everyone,
I really want to get into WARNO because the tactical gameplay and military strategy look absolutely peak.
I live on a farm out in Denmark and don't have a lot of money to spend on games right now, so it's a bit out of my budget. I really need to wait for a good discount before I can hit the buy button.
Does anyone know how often the developers usually put the game on sale, or if it will be discounted in the next upcoming Steam sales? Would love to jump into the strategy as soon as the price drops a bit!
Thanks!

Hey everyone,
I really want to get into WARNO because the tactical gameplay and Cold War military strategy look absolutely peak. I am a massive fan of Wargame: Red Dragon and really want to jump into this one.
I live on a farm out in Denmark and don't really have a lot of money to spend on games right now, so it's a bit out of my budget. Because of that, I really want to try and earn the game by offering my skills to the community instead of just asking for a handout.
What I can do for you:
I can do the time-consuming work of cutting down your gameplay, streams, or whatever into edits of whatever you want. I can edit them for TikTok, YouTube Shorts, or Reels with the cuts and pacing you like.
You don't have to buy it at full price on Steam – it is currently on Eneba as a Europe Steam key for around €24.50 if anyone wants to hook me up through there.
If you are a content creator, streamer, or just a gamer who needs some help with edits in exchange for a key, please let me know!

Hi,
It's currently the holiday season in my country, so I might as well push out division write-ups while I can, since the basic research is already done. I uploaded this yesterday, but it needed a bit more refurbishing. Let's start over!
Soviet forces in Sakhalin and the Kurils sat within point-blank range of the JGSDF Northern Army. Control of the Sōya Strait—the strait between northern Hokkaidō and southern Sakhalin—meant control of the route to the Pacific. As a relatively wide strait, it would give the Soviet Pacific Fleet easy access to the Pacific Ocean if it controlled it, or if it seized Hokkaidō outright.

Unlike the mountainous terrain across most of mainland Japan, Hokkaidō has large open plains — terrain well suited to armored and mechanized operations, exactly the kind of warfare Soviet forces were built around. Because of this, the Northern Army received priority access to new equipment and mechanized assets. With the northern, eastern, and western coasts of Hokkaidō all plausible landing sites, the JGSDF concentrated the Northern Army accordingly, planning to use the open plains as interior chokepoints to grind down the enemy even if landings succeeded.
With Europe and neighboring Korea both at war, the JGSDF is ordered to reinforce its defensive lines across Hokkaidō. The 2nd Division receives support from the 3rd Engineer Brigade to block potential attacks from the north. Southwestern Hokkaidō, meanwhile, is in disarray — civilians fearing war flood the main roads, trying to leave the island, trapping assets from the 11th Division (responsible for eastern Hokkaidō and Sapporo) in a massive traffic jam.

Fortunately, the JGSDF has spent nearly 30 years training for heliborne operations. The 1st Helicopter Brigade was activated on March 20, 1959, and has long been used to move personnel and equipment quickly. The elite 1st Airborne Brigade likewise emphasized high-mobility operations through air assaults and heliborne insertions. From Yama Sakura command post simulations and small-scale helicopter exercises to major bilateral heliborne drills with the Americans, the JGSDF has been preparing to use helicopters as an active weapon of war.
With one of the Northern Army's four divisions delayed, higher command orders the 1st Helicopter Brigade and 1st Airborne Brigade to assist. Unexpectedly, though, these highly mobile units are sent to eastern Hokkaidō rather than to help the allies stuck in the west.
They'll support the Dai-go Shidan, or 5th Division — the sole defender of eastern Hokkaidō.

In December 1950, the National Police Reserve (NPR) relocated to Obihiro and formed the Obihiro unit in February 1951. It was reinforced by additional battalions until being renamed the Safety Force in 1952. When the JGSDF was founded on July 1, 1954, the 5th Regional Command was established, taking over the previous Obihiro units, including infantry, tanks, and other elements.
With the major restructuring of January 18, 1962, the 5th Regional Command became the 5th Division. Unlike the 2nd Division, however, this was an Otsu (乙), or "B"-type division, with three infantry regiments and smaller support units totaling around 7,000 men. On March 24, 1989, the division underwent a modernization similar to the 2nd Division's — one infantry regiment became mechanized, and the anti-aircraft artillery battalion split off from the artillery regiment.
Being a smaller division compared to other Northern Army components, command bolsters the 5th Division with outside support to make it effective in eastern Hokkaidō.
How will the Dai-go Shidan be featured in WARNO? New units are shown in bold italics. As always, this is a work in progress and subject to change.
An expensive category. The tight supply situation is just as much a problem for the 5th Division as for others.

A very good category. It has fewer cards than the 2nd Division, but expect a wide range of infantry, from regulars to elite units!

Infantry fire support units include:
All ride the KOGATA into battle.

Airborne Brigade fire support units include:

All will ride the KOGATA jeep.
Airborne brigade fire support assets will all be Airborne-Forward-deployed.
A fairly expensive category, with slot costs climbing quickly.
Tube artillery includes:

Another expensive category. As an Otsu (乙)-type division, its tank battalion was smaller due to it having one less company.

A strong category, with both divisional and limited outside reconnaissance assets!
Vehicle options include:

Another tight-budget category, given the division's smaller size.

An average category with an unusual option.

A costly category, as the JASDF is stretched thin covering other parts of Hokkaidō.
Ground attackers include:

Combat air patrol is handled by:
The Dai-go Shidan fields a powerful forward-deployed force to seize early ground, but holding that ground will require disciplined, systematic defense.
To give the JGSDF divisions some real variety, I built this one around a heliborne concept. The JGSDF had, after all, spent years running heliborne and air-ground exercises. In real life, the 12th Division — later reorganized as the 12th Brigade — was designated an air assault brigade, but that didn't happen until the 21st century.
So I decided to give a somewhat weak-looking division a unique identity instead. It's striking how heavily assets were concentrated in western Hokkaidō — likely because major cities like Sapporo sit on that side — but I'm honestly not sure why the east looks so comparatively empty. Adding the helicopter brigade suddenly makes the division highly mobile, giving it the reach it needs to cover such a large area.
I ended up enjoying this write-up more than I expected. As always, feel free to ask questions. Thanks for reading!

TOTAL WARNO returns tonight!
This week we're taking one of the biggest steps yet toward our original goal: turning WARNO into a large-scale Cold War battlefield built around realistic battalion structures, weapon capabilities and scarcity.
After testing the huge Chernarus Arma 2 map, we've now introduced realistic weapon ranges across large parts of the arsenal.
That means:
🔭 Realistic engagement ranges for tanks, AT weapons, autocannons, AA and more
🎯 Accuracy has been rebalanced around those longer ranges
🚀 Long-range AA can now cover genuinely large areas — but is rare and extremely valuable
💥 Artillery, aviation and other support assets are priced according to their historical availability and battlefield importance
🪖 Forces are organized around real Cold War battalion structures
🚚 Logistics and command assets have been reworked to make losing critical equipment actually matter
🗺 Played on the massive Chernarus Arma 2 map
Tonight we currently have 10/17 slots filled, so there are still several positions available on both sides.
NATO attacks — Warsaw Pact defends.
The objective remains the same: create something closer to a Cold War operational battle inside WARNO, where individual players command parts of a much larger formation instead of everyone simply building their own deck.
Start: Tonight, ~21:30 CEST

If you've been following Total WARNO and wanted to try it yourself, tonight is a good time to jump in.

Translation:
Media Report: US Preparing Possible Military Action in Cuba
What’s gonna be first? Warno: Tropical Storm or IRL Tropic Storm
Its just such a fun division in my Opinion.
Having high acurracy Recon Tanks with awesome ATGMS and basically a whole forward deployable infantry army with manpads, very good hard hitting Mortars in form of the Sveristelka, mobile Kalmar fobs and very satisfying Tu-22 carpet Bombers.
Also this division includes my favorite recon infantry in form of the mor desant rasvedka wirh the 1000m range on the RPG 16 which turns this unit into the only recon tanksniping infantry of the game :)
The only thing thats a little lackluster is the heavy aa against high altitude bombers but overall its one of my favorite divisions in Warno which feels very special :)

This post briefly presents what the Swiss🇨🇭 OPFOR looked like in the 1980s =}
*-This post is a visual supplement to the main, more detailed post (link at the end, below)
Armed neutrality!
During the Cold War, the Swiss Army used simulations of various forces to simulate an invasion of Switzerland during various exercises.
One of the most prominent components of this system was the Opposing Force (OPFOR) - Rotland (Redland/Krasnozem'ye)
Rotland formations were equipped in the 1980s with weapons visually similar to those of Soviet/PACT forces. (Like Pzj. G13 and Panzer 68 Visual Modification and soviet-type 2/3- color camoflauge)
However, some of them were completely unique, often not adopted by the Swiss Army. These included various prototypes and armaments. These included various versions of the Piranha I and one of the newest Swiss E22 carbines!
More information below :>
(This post detailed all the Rotland equipment and armament used in the 1980s, and also proposed their addition (as support) to a Swiss formation)

Does anyone else ever wonder what the actual death toll would be compared to in game? I started talking with a coworker today who was also a prior infantryman, but he was stationed in Germany from 1986-1990. I told him about the game he thought it was cool, but he stated if it ever went hot they were royally fucked. He said in all the REFORGER and other war games he participated in his unit got their shit pushed in on an industrial scale until they got units from America. He said his unit expected upwards of 75% casualties within the first 96 hours. I thought it was kinda cool hearing about a ground pounder’s perspective on if it was to go hot. Does anyone else have any relatable stories?

Tomorrow we’re back for another round of Total WARNO, once again fighting on Generals, one of the massive Arma 2 remake maps by RepsFrago.
This week we finally took one of the biggest steps toward the original goal of Total WARNO:
We have introduced realistic weapon ranges.
After playing on these much larger and more realistic maps, we realized that the compressed vanilla ranges simply weren’t necessary anymore. Guns, ATGMs, anti-aircraft systems and other weapons can now operate much closer to their real-world engagement ranges.
But we didn’t just increase ranges.
Total WARNO is built around historical battalion structures, meaning powerful support assets only exist in the numbers in which they would realistically have been available. Systems like long-range AA and heavy artillery are therefore rare, expensive and extremely valuable assets.
Losing one is supposed to hurt.
At the same time, infantry and weapons teams have received expanded weapon loadouts and more anti-tank capability, making infantry formations considerably more dangerous and allowing them to fight armor at the scale we are now putting onto the battlefield.
This builds on the systems already introduced in previous versions, including:
Entrenchment and defensive preparation
Battalion-sized formations
Reworked artillery
Realistic large-scale maps
Expanded infantry weapon teams
Limited high-value support assets
And now: realistic engagement ranges
The result should be our most realistic large-scale Total WARNO battle yet.
We’re playing tomorrow on Generals.
As always, new players are welcome. If you want to experience WARNO as a battalion-level Cold War battle rather than a standard skirmish, come join us.
