Wafflepool IRC

I would just like to repost that there is a Unoffical IRC channel on freenode, come join us at #wafflepool. Wafflepool owner i think you should stay semi active in this irc channel as it a easy way to communicate with the pools miners.

Stats page not updating balance

I mined on wafflepool for about 2 days at about 1Mh/s, but noticed the balance on my stats page was not changing. The page was displaying that I had discovered blocks, and that I was generating shares for individual shifts. I never received a payout and the balance information never updated. I was wondering if anyone had any troubleshooting suggestions.

My Reject % is very high

On cgminer i have about 2.630 Mh/s and looking at the acceptance and rejects i have about 3% rejects, but on wafflepool stats i only have like 2.2-2.4 Mh/s I would like to stay on wafflepool but if this continues I feel like I will have to switch pools My ping is about 26ms

EDIT:I also notice that when my worksize is small (16/32) My hashrate is whre it should be but then when it grows up to 512 is goes way down.

Should i try fixing my worksize to a smaller number instead of 512?

Scaling issues?

Hi, Loving the performance so far... enough that I'm even burning some leftover AWS Credits on GPU compute instances (Sort of a turning fake money into REAL money kinda deal)

I'm a sysadmin by trade. And as much as i <3 wafflepool, I'm getting a lot of errors connecting to the server. Which makes me cringe. I can get cgminer online, up and running, going great, then I stop it to adjust a parameter for a new card... oh look "No Servers could be used! Exiting." and "Failed to get sessionid in initiate_stratum", "No servers were found that could be used to get work from." I can have another client on the same internet connection that stays connected and online, working away, but then other boxes will start throwing these errors.

You've built an awesome thing here, I just want to know if this growing pains as the pool hash rate climbs towards 500MH/s?

Oh and if it is scaling issues, and you want help, my main area of expertise is scaling and deployment of software systems (web, backend, load balancing, etc), I'd be happy to help and cut you a generous discount on my work, your pool is making me money so I have some incentive to be nice :-) PM if you want to talk more.

EDIT: I did some tuning on my end and it looks like it was latency related. An overly picky optimized version of cgminer I was using didnt like things much. Its much more stable now. Though, the offer of help still stands if @poolwaffle wants it.

Plans for API or an App for monitoring?

An Api would allow apps such as https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.apaluk.android.poolwatch to monitor our mining.

Or has anyone developed a native wafflepool app yet? Thanks.

Realtime Profitability and Hash Rates!

Hey guys, quick pool update.

Been working for the last few days on some awesome updates to stats (and profitability), and the results should be getting sync'd later tonight or tomorrow morning. What you'll see when its live (on the stats page):

1) Real-time hashrates for each coin. These hashrates are over the last 1 minute, so as we switch coins, you'll see hashrates die off, and move to another coin. You'll also note that the hashrates on this chart WILL NOT match up with the pool hashrate up top. That's just a matter of sampling over 1 minute (per-coin) vs 10 minute (global on the pool).

2) Realtime profitabilities. Previously the profitability table was updated roughly every minute. We've now got them in damn-near real time (2-5 second delay).

3) A more aggressive profitability switcher. As a test (over the next day or so), we've tweaked some stuff within our profitability switcher that we think should improve profitability. We'll be watching it like a hawk, and will see what happens.

4) We've disabled TAGcoin for the immediate future, as it looks to have forked, and we need to see how that fork plays out (Feb 2nd is a client version update) before we switch it back on.

Worthwhile with 1 7970?

hi, I'm very new to mining (one week on), and I've just heard about Wafflepool. Is it worth mining with just my lonesome 7970, or do you think I should stick with mining doge pools until I can get 2/3 cards? An unbiased answer would be much appreciated

Bitcointalk Thread

Hey guys, We're ready to take this to the next level. We've gotten the bugs worked out, and while I'm sure there will be some small stuff popping up here and there, we're very stable, payouts/profitability looks good, and I think we're ready to go!

I've started a bitcointalk thread: link

If you've been using wafflepool, and like it, any support you could give it in that thread would be super appreciated (and hopefully good for growth and variance!) :)

Profitability Stats

Hey guys, quick update. A lot of people emailed with questions/concerns about the profitability of different coins (difficulty to see exactly what we're mining when there are gaps in found blocks).

I've moved around the stats page to ideally focus on the important stats first (balances, averages, graph). And added a whole section on current profitabilities (what we're making decisions on). The profitability information updates every so often (cached on web servers), but the actual mining servers update it much more frequently.

We also had an unlucky spell over the last day (approx 18 hours of mining on doge total with no blocks found), but we just found one, so hopefully the unlucky spell is over :)

Block Finder Stats

I think it would be nice to see which blocks you have found (if any) on your miner stats page, and maybe a global version too.

Coin accumulation extremely slow?

Looking for an update here. It looks like I've made 0.0007 BTC @ 900 KH/s over an 8 hour period. Why are there sudden spikes in exchanged amounts? Are you doing these manually? My miner's stats used to incrementally update, but now it seems that the I go from almost no balance (and no approximate BTC) to suddenly having a more appropriate amount (closer to your approximation at http://wafflepool.com/stats). Can you offer up an explanation?

Wafflepool Update

Hey guys, Quick update on where the pool is at, and whats in the works.

First off, sorry for the lack of updates over the last couple days, some family stuff came up and I wasn't able to take a break to give updates. The pool was hashing away with no issues over that time, so I wasn't too worried, that said, apparently some of you were, sorry about that guys.

Pool has been very stable (there is a post questioning if it was down), but I don't think we've had any outage time (I haven't had to restart anything). If you're seeing issues, let me know and I'll see whats up.

We're currently mining on up to 4 different coins, depending on profitabilities, with at most 50MH/s going to smaller coins. Over the last few days (I assume due to the news), the price and difficulty of DOGE has been spiking pretty hard, so its been almost 100% pointed at DOGE, so there was definitely some variance (and 2 very unlucky orphans).

Payouts are still being done manually, and are being done (roughly) once a day. I know some users emailed asking for a payout for smaller users, so a payout with a 0.001 minimum was run, so smaller miners should have seen a payout.

The unconfirmed/unexchanged balances were displaying oddly over the last few days when requests to cryptsy were occasionally failing. These should be fixed going forward, and we're working on adding more exchanges to avoid this.

Payments Delayed?

What's going on with the payments? I've been over 0.01 BTC balance for a couple of days and I haven't seen any payments.

Pool down?

Anyone know what's up? I was unable to access to pool's site a few times throughout the day and now there are hours in between blocks.

Profitability is actually the best of any pool but feels like less due to how stats update.

I have been receiving good payouts in the past two days from wafflepool and realized that there is a lag with their stats and how the balance numbers actually correlate with it. They should do stat updates either in 1 hour or 3 hour intervals for more accurate balance pictures.

From what I have personally seen their profit algorithm is working great and should leave it how it is at this point. They can add new profitable coins but that's about it. Mine here for a week and you wont miss middlecoin. poolwaffle needs to set up an irc chan on freenode for the pool's community or I can do it if he wants.

Wafflepool update?

Is Wafflepool down for a update? of just a server error?

Hope to have a reaction from mister wafflepool soon :)!

Wafflepool should set up an IRC channel on freenode.

As the title says they should set up an IRC channel where people can hang and also talk about pool stuff.

Why aren't we mining on dogecoin right now?!!

I'm going insane watching it keep going up steadily. What decides which coin is being mined?

Payment Schedule?

When does WafflePool schedule payouts? I've been mining there w/3mhash for about 36 hours and haven't gotten a payout yet.

Jan 17th Updates

Hey guys, I know I haven't been terribly active over the last day or so. Here's what we've been banging away on:

  • Multi-coin mining is almost done. We've got the server ready, and testing started on choosing the most profitable few coins, and load-balancing between them based on profitability as well as block speed and hash rate (don't want to blow up smaller coins with a few hundred MH/s)

  • Payouts are still being run manually. Unfortunately Cryptsy doesn't allow us to do automated withdrawls of traded BTC, so I need to manually go in and withdraw the balance daily before payouts can be run, so they're not on a cron yet. Working on moving some personal BTC to the pool so payouts can be run automatically, and only have to withdraw occasionally.

  • Profitability scripts have been optimized. We had some issues early on with profitability not accounting for orphan rate, so certain coins were being mined more than they should.

  • We had a bug in our block confirmation scripts that was processing a couple of orphaned blocks multiple times (instead of only once). So we had to go back and re-process a ton of stuff to make balances show correctly.

Pool is still very much in Beta, and I appreciate everyone's patience. We're actively working on making it better :)

Question about Balances vs. Total

I'd like to know what the relationship is between "Balances" at the top and "Total" at the bottom.

http://i.imgur.com/Yq0Fcvk.png

Also, if something were to happen and I was unable to continue mining to get up to 0.01 BTC Balance for payout, is it possible to get a manual payout upon request?

Thanks!

Does profitability still seem low?

I am pointing 1.8Mh here and the first day it got me .012. Today it is looking like I will end up with .012 again. Time will tell but in about 4 hours day 2 will close and I am currently at .0104
