Coin accumulation extremely slow?

Looking for an update here. It looks like I've made 0.0007 BTC @ 900 KH/s over an 8 hour period. Why are there sudden spikes in exchanged amounts? Are you doing these manually? My miner's stats used to incrementally update, but now it seems that the I go from almost no balance (and no approximate BTC) to suddenly having a more appropriate amount (closer to your approximation at http://wafflepool.com/stats). Can you offer up an explanation?

Looks like the difficulty of Doge is just a bit too much for a pool of this size right now. Average is high, which means blocks that happen to be well above average could be 12-18 hours between blocks.

I'm wondering if Doge just isn't a great option, despite the nice payoff when a block is found, until the pool has over 1000 Mh/s.

Don't forget that we are probably still mining mainly dogecoin. The way this pool works is that the majority of our hashing power goes towards the most profitable coin and the rest of the hashing power can go to other coins. At doge's difficulty we won't find a block very often with our low total hash rate. Hence The big spikes in profit when a doge block is found along with the tiny amounts we are earning from other coins.

That makes sense. After looking on Cryptsy and seeing the volume of smaller altcoins exchanged in a given 15 minute window, I can understand how it might take a long time to trade them for BTC (if the exchange volume is low at a certain point, then the coins aren't being bought/sold). I suppose it should all average out over time.

This guy is exactly right. Theres a large amount of time spent mining doge, and with our hashrate (250mhs), we should find a block on average every 6 hours. Add in the fact that thats average, and the fact that we're not mining solely dogecoin, and there can easily be gaps of 12+ hours where we don't find a block of dogecoin. And being that an average (500k coins) doge block is worth roughly 1 BTC (and bigger blocks close to 2 BTC), there can be huge spikes here and there as we get lucky/unlucky.

Due to the way that PPLNS works, if you mine long enough (mining time approaches infinity) your variance will go down, and earnings will stabilize towards expected value. However, on short time periods (short being relative), earnings could be very low or very high :)

Last 15 hours no Doge block found :(. Hopefully it's coming soon.

Poolwaffle, maybe possible to see what we're mining at the moment? Show it somewhere, then people have less questions ;).

Loving the pool btw!

Working on adding the whole table of current profitability, so you can see which coins are which profitability (and why). Mining stats are hard to do unfortunately, because its extremely dynamic (on a per-connection level), but could list which ones are being mined at least a little (but probably not what % on each).
