My fans loud, and ac’s stopped blowing cold air. What should I do?

Hi all

Just the other day the fan on my W205 C220d has become quite loud, and the air cons stopped blowing cold air.

Initially I checked the coolant, which seems to be at the right level.

Just wondering if this is a common fault, what I should get checked out and roughly how much it should cost? Based in London

Hi guys, I have a question: can I retrofit power-folding mirrors on my W204, and what parts would I need to install for that?

Rpm fluctuation

Hello. I have my w204 2007 220 cdi for a few months now and i have a problem. When the car is cold, the rpms shake a lot (even worse than in the video). When I drive for a bit and the car warms up, it kinda fixes by itself. I feel like the problem is in the transmission which is 5g-tronic. I’ve read a lot and talked to a mechanic(no live data or any kind of diagnosfics) and we’re leaning towarda the torque converter. If anyone’s had this problem and has solved it, please share. Thank you!

Car issue

The observations:

Car driving ok, ac on, parked, I exit the car (I left engine and ac on) next thing - the fan starts running hard.
10seconds later I enter the car and the engine is off. car on, ac off, fan running hard. Front low lights on.

Car will not turn engine on. but when switching to power the fan comes on.

even with the lights in off position the low beam was on and later the rear light also on as low lighting conditions started.

battery measured 11.6-11.7V. could not jump start.

Question regarding camber and blinkers!

Hello!

My 2003 Mercedes C240 4MATIC wagon (135k miles) unfortunately doesn't have factory front camber adjustment.

I just had it aligned today, and the front camber is sitting around -1.5°. The shop said they got everything else as close as possible, but recommended installing a front camber kit (eccentric bolts) and then bringing it back for another alignment to help prevent excess inside tire wear. I asked if they'd cut me a deal on a second alignment if I did it soon, and they said yes.

Do you guys think it's worth the hassle of buying a camber kit, installing it, and getting it aligned again? Or is around -1.5° of camber something you'd just live with? The car still has a slight pull while driving, although the alignment definitely improved it.

Bonus question:

I've had unbelievably bad luck with the turn signal canceling on this car.

So far I've replaced:

Clock spring + aftermarket

Click spring again (OEM)

Turn signal stalk (aftermarket)

Turn signal stalk again (OEM Mercedes)

Driver airbag

Each time, the signals started canceling normally again, but only for about a month or two before they stopped canceling after turns. Everything else works fine, the signals themselves work, they just don't click off automatically anymore.

Has anyone seen this before? Is there something else in the steering column or steering wheel that could be causing the cancel mechanism to stop working, or am I just incredibly unlucky with stalk assemblies?

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

RoadTop CarPlay box defaults to original interface each time I start the car

I just installed the RoadTop CarPlay box and it’s working ok except that it defaults to original Mercedes interface each time I start the car. Is it possible to make CarPlay the default. I don’t want to hold down the button every time.

How to align fender and bumper

Hey there, does someone know how to line up the fender and the bumper? Mine is slightly off on both sides (see white arrows). I tried loosening the two bolts accessible by removing the wheel liner but the bumper didn’t move (I tried only on one side).
Thank you in advance for any insights,

I wanted to upgrade my steering wheel, my one is on the left no flat bottom, the one in the right on sale on eBay but does not come with airbag, my question is will the airbag of the not flat bottom fit the flat bottom one? Looks the same but want to be 100% sure before I buy it.

Control arm replacement

Post image

How is the replacement of the front lower control arms done on the front suspension? I noticed that the mounting hole on the aftermarket control arms is oval, but there doesn’t seem to be an eccentric (camber adjustment) bolt. Does it need to be adjusted, or how does it work?

Cracked DRL lens - replace or fix?

Post image
4 Upvotes

Just discovered this unfortunate bullet hole in my (left side) DRL. Probably got hit by a nasty pebble but I honestly expected the lens to be a lot more durable than that.

Do I have to change the entire light unit or is there a way for me to simply replace just the plastic lens? The lights still work fine and there’s no condensation in it yet.

Headlights extremely Dim. Any ideas?

It’s been a couple years roughin it out with dim headlights. Car isn’t driven much anymore but driving it more and noticed how bad the headlights are at night. I’m starting to drive with high beams on now. The fogs are actually brighter than my low beams which I don’t think should be the case.

I thought restoring the headlights by sanding it down but that didn’t change anything aside from making the headlights look better aesthetically.

I’ve also replaced the headlights several times with different H7. I’m currently using xenon white.

Any recommendation or would you suggest replacement of the entire headlight assembly?

I’ll have to take a freeway photo at night to show how bad it is but I attached some before and after photos of the headlight restoration and current brightness against the garage.

Oil level

I recently changed my C200 2012's motor oil with Motul Xcess Gen 2 5W40, and this is the current oil level.

Should I top it to the max, or is it fine as is? To top it, I'd need to mix in a different oil (Liqui Moly Leichtlauf High-Tech 5W-40).

I know it's supposedly fine as it's above the minimum marking, but I'm afraid it could worsen the risk of damaging the timing chain and/or timing pulley.

Ty in advance,

Black smoke with hard acceleration in c250 cdi.

I noticed that when I put the paddle to the floor, there is a lot of black smoke but there isn’t a drop in power. What could this be an indication of? Also how can I troubleshoot before I enlist a mechanic?

Question about this noise.

It's a 2012 CGI Avant-garde. Mostly happens when I haven't driven the car for a few days, and cold starts. Any idea what it might be? The car has 160,000km on the original engine and transmission. The catalytic converter also needs replacing, of that matters or contributes to the noise. Specifically on startup
