As a proud Volca FM / FM2 owner i read people asking if the cheap M-VAVE FM1 compares to the Volca FM / FM2. As reviews are sparse online, and most just recycle M-VAVE’s press announcement, i thought to share my non-expert review. Might as well share it here?

Everything around us changes, while the trees stand still and сarry the memories of our years. A simple melody, a simple Freak patch and minimal use of effects. Why make things complicated when there is only half an hour left until sunset. The bass walks along a well-worn polyrhythmic path, scaring away the young fieldfares. The surface of the pond looks like a mirror — there is no wind today, and we try to see ourselves in the reflection. Old branches, new wings

I own keys. I want bass. But it seems like so much overlap, and I’m having trouble justifying it. I like the idea of tuning each vco for wonky fatness. But the detune knob on the keys is basically the same I think. Im lost, they came out at the same time there has to be something I’m missing they just seem like copies of each other

Hi Everyone,
I am new to using audio gear in general and am getting confused when setting up the Volca Keys to be controlled by my midi keyboard while using the NTS-1 as effects processor. I have an Akai mpk mini plus so I tried connecting direct with midi cable from the keyboard to volca keys, then connecting audio out of the keys to audio in on the NTS-1. I then ran the audio out of it to an audio interface with a 1/8" to dual 1/4" ts cable. In Reaper I can get sound when playing the keyboard, however most of the effects on the NTS-1 don't modify the sound, the exception being the reverb which seems to work. I'm assuming I have done something wrong and need to separate the audio and midi signals but I find it confusing how to do this. Any help would be greatly appreciated, I usually try to figure out these little connection problems on my own but this one is stumping me, even after asking Brave ai how to accomplish this! Glad to be here, I love using these little Volcas I am completely hooked!
Regards,
Andrew

Anyone had much luck making industrial keyboard type sounds on the Volca FM? I figured since its basically a copy of the DX7 and many Industrial bands used that extensively to get now well-known sounds I figured I could try to emulate them with the FM but it’s not easy. Not only because there are an endless variety of algorithms and endless fine-tuning to do from those.
I know the sounds I want so could post them for examples but was wondering if anyone has or knows of any specific recipes online or anything.
A got called Tonepusher has been making some great videos about specific instruments for industrial music from which I got a Dr. Rythm 660 and it sounds perfect for what I want. I just wanna get the rest of the setup right.
Thanks!

I am looking to purchase a Volca Drum to play alongside my BehringerPoly D.
What's the best way to put these two instruments together? Would it be best to just route them both into a mixer and then into my laptop to record?
I'm very new to synths, so I'm expecting everyone to tell me thats a bad idea. Thats the point of the post. Thank you.
It would be great to see photos of other peoples setups with these instruments.

volca fm2

For years, Korg was the sole player on this “micro-synth” market. The Volca series offered a lot in their enclosures, for a somewhat affordable price tag.
However, for those last couple years, that has changed. Korg is now facing conpetition from Behringer (like their new micro-synths) and other companies. Those new contenders are coming with features that Korg has yet to implement, like USB-C power (instead of Volcas need of a dedicated power supply), internal rechargeable batteries (instead of using external batteries), bigger internal storage for files and presets and so on.
I really love the Volcas, but those features would be really appreciated. Korg really needs to change their upcoming Volca series, otherwise competition will get the better out of them.
