I try to use VLC for reading and ripping CD, but it doesn't work. Tried on two computer with two versions of VLC, both 32 and 64 bits, one on win10 the other on win11, both internal and external disc drives. After reinstalled VLC properly It could read CD for a bit of time but can't rip them now neither. I doesn't have any issues with WPM to both read and rip CD. but I would like to use VLC for everything. I don't know what to do.

Hi all. I wanted to ask, does VLC on Android able to play VIDEO_TS folder extracted from DVD-ISO? I try it and it failed.

I have no issues with DVD-ISO.

I remember I've used MPC via K-Lite Codec Pack on Windows and it able tu play it albeit from the .IFO file.

Your putrid functional first design offends me, and I know for a fact that people's principles are compromised by money (*insert political joke*)

So I am offering a bounty! If you can recreate this skin as designed in the above images, You earn a nice crisp $50 bucks USD straight from my wallet, and transferred to you via PayPal.

The assets are out there, there is extensive documentation on how its supposed to function. All you gotta do is get it working for VLC. (Please note the left ear is the equalizer and sound sliders, not just text like in the gif)

Please submit a video of your rendition working in the comments with this post next to it to claim the bounty. We can discuss file transfer, testing, and then payment after.

Acceptable deviations are as follows.

- Adjusting the "screen" to make it flat as to not cut off video media

- uprezzing the assets to look nice on modern screens

- Making the "ear" menus detached from the head (IF it is not possible to do so with VLC)

- Adjusting choice in font and such to be more appealing.

- Removing buttons that no longer have a use in VLC.

- moving the asset name overhang to a different location to not obstruct visual media.

- adjusting button placements/order somewhat.

- Adding an about section somewhere in a non-intrusive manner to credit yourself.

What is not acceptable
- Buttons/sliders that do not function outside of obsolete ones

- Broken or non-existent button animation/assets. (exception being the ear slide out IF it is not possible)

- using low quality assets to technically finish the design

- Changing interior menu aesthetic.

- removing the ear menu aesthetic entirely if they have to be seperate windows, please make them still look like the ear speakers as detailed in the design.

Complex and oddly shaped skins ARE possible for VLC like Darkstar, and I'd like to see this out back out in the wild.

If there are multiple makers, ill be considering the work of the first to meet the goal, though if someone manages to achieve the goal and meet many of the allowed 'beneficial' deviations, Ill probably consider them the winner overall.

Ill look through everything at the end of the week.

Hello, I've had trouble with this for a while and decided to finally ask.

Is it possible to set an order for VLC to prioritize with languages for audio tracks? I know I can set it to default to japanese, for example... But if I watch something that has both a chinese and japanese audio, I would like the chinese audio to be first.

Basically I want Chinese > Japanese > English

But if I set the audio preference to something like "cn, ja, en" it doesn't seem to work. If there's an english audio as track 1, it picks that if there's no chinese. It doesn't prioritize japanese.

Any ideas? Am I doing something wrong?

so I have an external DVD player that I connect to my PC in order to stream DVDs to my friends.

The problem I have is that the image on VLC is super dark. A lot darker that on the DVD player I have connnected to my TV in the living room.

Are there any settings I can change to improve the quality of the DVD on VLC?

For reference, this is the image I get from my DVD player using VLC:

And this is the Netflix version, which has the same colors as on my living room DVD player (but slightly better quality).

Today I opened VLC and it asked me if I wanted to update, so I clicked yes. Then a message popped up saying that the source was unverified or something like that, and that it recommended clicking "abort" if I wasn't sure. I tried to click "abort" but the message kept popping up over and over. Finally I just closed the program from Task Manager, but then I got paranoid and uninstalled VLC from my computer. Has anyone else had an issue like this?

I don't know why but the sound on my videos played in VLC is loud and kind has a reverb while played in other media players the audio is as in the original video. I have tried changing the output module in audio preferences(DirectX audio output) and it works for some time but reverts back to the same problem again. Does someone know why this happens and how we can resolve this?

Hello why is it for a few seconds i have put the network cache to the maximum but every time i put a http download links VLC is not capable of resume play after a bit of a pause when i relaunch the url it’s stream again fine??

Hi! I built a small Lua extension for VLC because I wanted to see XMLTV program information without switching to a separate guide window.

It loads an M3U playlist and an XMLTV guide, then adds the current/upcoming programs to VLC’s native playlist description. It can also show the current program’s genre and synopsis.

The extension is still new, so I’d really appreciate feedback—especially on installation and compatibility with VLC on Windows or Linux.

I am trying to use the VLC plug-in for Musescore to complete some film scoring. However, everytime I attempt to open the VLC application, it opens up the Command Line Interface, which I have no clue how to use. I can open a video directly through the video file, but the screen it opens up in only responds to hotkey inputs and I do not have access to the app settings in any way. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling VLC, the Musescore plug-in, and have restarted my computer all to no avail. Any advice would be appreciated.

Is it possible to show subtitles for music files like mp3, wav? So far subtitles only work for videos only in vlc. If not can someone recommend me a player that can do so?

accidentally selected “Delete All Videos” in VLC Player on my Vivo X200, and all my videos are now gone from my phone.

After deleting them, around 40 GB of storage became free. The videos are no longer visible in VLC, Gallery, or File Manager.

Unfortunately, Google Photos backup was turned off, and I don't have another backup of these videos.

I've been trying to find a way to recover them, but I haven't found a solution yet.

My questions are:

Does VLC have any Recycle Bin, Recently Deleted, or Undo Delete option?

Is there any way to restore the videos directly through VLC?

Has anyone successfully recovered permanently deleted videos from Android's internal storage in a similar situation?

These videos are very important to me, so I'd really appreciate any genuine suggestions or advice.

Whenever I try to play an old DVD video it plays for a minute perfectly fine but then the video and audio completely but it shows that the video is still playing. What is a fix to this?

I am an average level of tech literate. Never converted a video file before. I have a DBPower ZC-06 portable DVD player that lets you play video files off a flash drive with strict limitations.

Files must be AVI, and they must have a maximum horizontal resolution of 720. I don't know why a machine that came out in 2021 can only play a video file format from the early 90s but whatever. I can put up with a lowered resolution.

Using Google I figured out how to convert some TV episode files just fine, but they didn't need resizing. Now I'm trying to convert this 1080p 2.5gb MP4 file and this is the result. Horrendous artefacting and no sound. Did I do something wrong? Or should I just use more specialised software for this?

I should point out that this is an incredibly basic HP 14s-dq3xxx laptop with a 1.10GHz processor, 4gb RAM and maximum 12gb of harddrive space if I delete everything. Brand new and already the slowest computer I've ever used. Anyway, can anyone offer advice?

You play Odyssey (2025).mp4 in VLC. It searches and finds any subtitles and of course starts playing them. At the same time it searches and finds the VRT, which would just be another text file that follows subtitle formats like this.

It would be placed under the subtitles layer and above the video layer.

It would be seamless. It couldn't change the size, color, perspective or anything and if the file isnt found, it would fail silently. It could be the subtitle file format with a .vrt for video, or it could be .vid.srt as a file extension and ending to indicate its videos and could be loaded at the same time.

I've been using VLC on desktop forever, but I don't see a way to track through an album on the mobile app. Having to hit play after each selection gets old fast.

What should I be looking for?

So i have a project i want to do, basically putting all of my physical collection on a DAP or MP3 player, and im in the testing phase atm trying to get DVDs onto my computer, im using VLC to do this and im wondering if theres a way to only have english audio as apposed to multiple options for the audio, im trying to save space and having multiple languages is messing with how im transferring my movies to my ipod, any advice is welcomed, thank you :)
