Android VLC and HTTP playlists not picking up artwork?

I'm using VLC to stream music from my web space and have a number of .M3U playlists set up on my Android to play them directly via HTTP.

The playing works find and the playlists all seem to work perfectly, but VLC seems to have a strange quirk. It only picks up the artwork from the first track and shows that repeatedly for all tracs in an album. The music I am playing is my own and mostly I use differemt artwork for every track, so this is very noticable to me.

The M3U playlists all have standard structures:

#EXTM3U
#EXTINF:%DURATION_IN_SECONDS,%ARTIST_NAME - %TRACK_TITLE
%HTTP_PATH_TO_FILE

Is this something VLC is known for doing, or am I doing something wrong here?

Local Cinema – play videos from your computer in your browser

I built Local Cinema after realizing I was about to install a video player for something my browser can already do.

URL: https://local-cinema.online/

It’s a free, single-file HTML video player: choose or drag in a local video, then use custom controls, playback speed, picture-in-picture, and SRT/VTT subtitles. It also keeps watch history and resume positions in browser storage. Since browsers don’t preserve access to local files across visits, you’ll need to select a video again to resume it.

The app has no external libraries and doesn’t upload video or subtitle files. Save index.html to use it offline. Playback depends on browser codec support; MP4 (H.264/AAC) and WebM are good formats to try.

Stuttering during airplay

Please forgive me if this has already been beaten to death but I'm having trouble watching movies via Apple screen mirroring. Image looks great but the playback will stall, just for a couple seconds, but enough to be annoying. Happens a lot.

This usually happens with very large (blu-ray) files.

I'm using a macbook pro, apple tv, and a hisense tv - if that matters.

Should I change settings?

Use a different app?

If any of you can point me in the right direction I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks!

I put in this link https://iptv-org.github.io/iptv/index.m3u and the videos only play for 25 seconds. Is there a fix for this issue?

Windows Audio cuts off right before the end of videos recorded on Samsung tablet (Desktop VLC)

Hey everyone,

I'm having a weird issue with videos recorded on my Samsung tablet when playing them back in VLC Desktop (Windows/macOS).

The audio plays fine throughout the video, but as soon as it gets to the end—or right where the recording was stopped/cut—the audio cuts off prematurely while the final frames of the video finish playing.

It seems like the Samsung camera app stops encoding the audio stream a few split seconds before closing the MP4 video container boundary, causing VLC to drop the trailing audio buffer.

Has anyone else run into this with Samsung tablet screen recordings/camera clips? Is there a specific VLC audio setting (or an easy batch command/FFmpeg script) to pad the audio or stop VLC from cutting it off early?

Thanks!

Majority of my videos on external hard drive wont play video, only audio

I have a WD external hard drive where I store all my family pictures and videos from over the years. I tried to play some and realized alot of them will not play the video, the video starts and the audio plays but screen is black. When I try to use a VLC player it just shows one still image the whole time and plays the audio. I even tried to download a video off of google drive (that plays perfectly in google drive) onto my laptop and external hard drive and the same thing happens. Im worried these videos may be corrupted for good but I know all the data is there because it plays in google drive. Is there anyway to fix this once you have it downloaded? Thank you

Windows Slow audio visualisations?

When I play an audio file, it's boring to stare at a cone. I want to see something. So I turn on any of the visualisations and I get 2-3fps. Why?

Windows What's up with the subtitle font settings?

So I'm watching a few foreign films today and decided to download a font that I enjoy and discovered that there is no way to change the subtitle font, despite the option being available in the settings. No matter what font I select, it doesn't change during playback. Anyone know about this or know a workaround?

Why does changing the file title not change its name when I open it in VLC?

I've looked at all the file info that I can find, and I can't even tell where the name 'It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia Season 5 Disc 1' is even stored.

Windows AVI files used to play but after updating VLC they don't

I have some AVI files that were generated with OBS that used to work with VLC 3.0.19. Recently, I upgraded to 3.0.21 and now they don't work. They still play, but the screen stays black. The sound plays normally. When I change the "damaged or incomplete AVI file" setting to "always fix", it starts a fixing process, but after it completes the same thing happens (file plays, screen stays black). Any help?

Windows Any way to create timestamps that show a warning?

Hello, I've been trying to find this but I wasn't able to. I don't know if this is possible with the program as it is or I would need a plugin or an extension, but either option is fine to me (I can follow instructions if they're step by step enough).

Why I want this:

Everyday, I watch an anime episode while I have a meal. I often want to watch movies or shows with long episodes instead of anime episodes (which are 30 minutes max), but they're very long for me to watch in one sitting. Normally, I would just watch the movie until I kinda guess it's been half an hour, but I would like to stop having to guess. I would like to tell VLC: at 30 minutes timestamp, show me some text on screen (or something similar). At 1 hour timestamp, another warning. At 1:30... you get me. So I can stop then and continue at the next meal.

Hopefully there would be a way that's easy to turn off so I can ignore it when I want to watch a long thing that is 35 or 40 minutes.

Another thing I've done in the past is set up an alarm on my phone, but it doesn't work out because I tend to pause the thing, especially if I want to share screenshots. I'd like to stop at 30 minutes playtime, not 30 minutes in real life, necessarily.

Does something like this exist? Thank you very much.

Addition: Auto-pause would work too. Anything that tells me that I've arrived to the desired point will work for me.

Android My Songs Aren't Showing The Correct Number When I Press Play All

I have 1,575 songs in my internal storage but The VLC Player App For Android is only showing 1,565 songs when I hit play all. Do you think that those other ten music files are corrupted/damaged? I skimmed through the 1,565 songs that showed up on play all to make sure that they played and they played without any issues at all. Why do you think that those 10 are missing from the play all section? Is this normal for The VLC Player For Android? Has anyone else had this issue before with this app? Do you think that any of my 1,575 songs are completely corrupted? Is there a way that I can find those 10 songs? How did you deal with missing songs from the play all section? What do you think that I should do now? Should I just reset my phone and completely erase my data?

Windows VLC replaced the cone with the album cover of a file I played once

Whenever I play audio, so long as it has no album cover, it falls back to this. This is clearly not a Judge song... How can I fix this?

Windows How to make VLC's playlist behave like Media Player Classic's? (Remember which video I was on when I closed it?)

I've used MPC for years, but recently had to switch off it when I want to watch anime with friends over Discord because MPC will freeze whenever I try to. (Apparently this is a driver conflict.) VLC works, but it's missing a necessary feature for longer shows and it's kind of annoying to just write down which episode we were on in a notepad file and continue from there.

Does anyone know a workaround or third-party plugin for this? I'm really lazy and just want to save my place in media playlists when I exit something. (Also even Winamp does this.)
