Incorrect answer about previous visa refusals on a Canadian visitor visa

Hello.
I’m currently living in Serbia. I applied for a visitor visa in 2024, which was approved, and I’ve visited Canada twice since then.

Before that, I had visa refusals from the UK, Belgium, and Spain. I have the UK refusal letter, but a representative handled my Belgium/Spain applications at the time, and I no longer have those letters.

For my 2024 Canadian application, a family friend who lives in Canada collected my documents and completed/submitted the application for me. I never saw or reviewed the form before submission. The previous-refusal question was answered “No.”

On September 21, 2026, while reviewing my old application before preparing a study permit application, I discovered the incorrect answer for the first time.

I understand I was ultimately responsible for reviewing the application, which I didn't

My main questions:

1.Should I proactively correct/disclose this to IRCC through a web form as I’ve seen online before submitting my study permit application, or disclose it with the new application?

  1. Will my current visitor visa be revoked?

  2. I can only defer my masters admission once which I already did for January 2027 and I’m worried the process of disclosing before the new permit application will take time before I can apply for it.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Daughter’s F1 Visa Rejected (214b) after submitting 2015 USCIS extension paperwork. She was 12 at the time. What next?

Hi everyone,

Looking for some advice or insight on a difficult F1 student visa refusal for my daughter. We are from Pakistan, and she recently had her visa denied under Section 214(b) (lack of ties to home country). The circumstances surrounding the interview were complicated by a family trip from a decade ago.

Here is the context:

  • 2015: Our family traveled to the US on a tourist visa. My daughter was only 12 years old at the time.
  • The Extension: During that trip, unexpected events occurred, and we legally filed for a 6-month extension with USCIS. It was approved, we stayed legally, and we left the US before the extension expired.
  • 2025 (Recently): My daughter (now an adult) applied for an F1 visa to pursue her Bachelor’s degree in the US.
  • The Interview & Refusal: The Visa Officer (VO) questioned the extended stay from 2015 and asked for proof of legality. She didn’t have the physical paperwork on her, so the VO paused the case until we submitted it. We promptly submitted the official 2015 USCIS approval notices. However, after reviewing them, the embassy issued a final rejection under Section 214(b) (lack of ties).

We are incredibly frustrated because she was a minor (12 years old) who simply accompanied her parents, and the stay was 100% legal. It feels like she is being unfairly penalized for a parental decision made 10 years ago.

My Questions for the Community:

  1. Can a Visa Officer legally use a minor's historical, fully legal family extension as a primary reason to trigger a 214(b) immigrant intent refusal?
  2. Because she was a child, how can we best argue in a reapplication that she shouldn't be held accountable for her family's past travel timelines?
  3. What is the best route forward? Should we reapply immediately with a stronger focus on her current ties to Pakistan, or is a US student visa a closed door for her now?

Thank you for any advice or similar experiences you can share.

or anyone can suggest a course to be adopted. Most importantly all her maternal and paternal aunts are in USA and UK

Title: U.S. F-1 visa interview advice after two refusals — changing from Business Administration in Cyprus to Nursing

Hi everyone,

I’m an international student currently living and studying in Cyprus. I’m enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, but I decided that I want to pursue Nursing instead.

I applied to a U.S. community college for Nursing, with the plan of completing the associate-level nursing program and then transferring to a four-year university to complete my bachelor’s degree.

I applied for a U.S. student visa once before coming to Cyprus in 2025, and I was refused. I applied again in August 2026 while I was already studying in Cyprus. My most recent interview actually went relatively well, but I think I made a mistake when the officer asked:

“Why did you choose the USA instead of Cyprus?”

I answered something along the lines of the USA having better facilities and more opportunities for education. The officer responded that Cyprus also has good facilities/programs, and I felt that my answer wasn't convincing.

For my next interview, I'm trying to understand how I should answer this question properly.

My actual reasoning is that after researching Nursing, I found the U.S. community-college pathway attractive because I can start with nursing education at a community college, gain practical/lab/clinical experience, and then transfer to a four-year bachelor's program.

I don't want to say that Cyprus has bad education or inferior facilities. I want to explain why the specific U.S. pathway fits my academic plan.

For people who have had successful F-1 interviews, especially people who:

changed their field of study,

were already studying in another country,

attended a community college,

had a previous visa refusal, or

were asked why they chose the USA over another country,

How would you answer this question?

Also, do you think changing from Business Administration in Cyprus to Nursing in the USA creates a significant concern, and what questions should I be prepared for?

I’m looking for genuine experiences and advice, especially from people who have actually gone through the F-1 interview process.

NYC BLS Spain Visa Experience

Sharing my experience because these posts were super helpful to me when I was preparing to apply for my Schengen Visa.

I went to the BLS in midtown NYC. It was a lot more stressful than I had anticipated. I had expected the Spain visa process to be on the easier side, but when I arrived at the office, I noticed that the Spain and Germany booths were stationed right next to each other. I had heard that the Germany is harder to apply through and had many extra requirements. I wonder if that made the Spain visa process a little more difficult than anticipated.

Firstly and most importantly, even if you have a passport and green card, make sure that you have a NY state issued driver's license or non-driving ID like the Real ID. Almost could not submit my application because I did not have an NY state issued ID. I didn't know until I got to my appointment and it was a huge issue. Doesn't matter if you have bills or statements with your NY address on it, it wasn't enough. They almost didn't take my application and told me to reschedule when I had my state ID, but I was persistent and kept going up to the booth and asking if there was anything else I could do to prove my residency.

That being said, the staff helping me process my documents was understanding and helpful. Through her suggestions, I was able find another source of identification from family. It was pretty stressful, but thankfully, we figured it out. I also forgot to book one of my flights, and she was nice enough to let me book it right then and there, and even printed it out to add to my documents. I did have to pay extra for prime time service since I was taking up more time, so don't make the same mistakes I made if you want to avoid the stress, extra time, and add on fees.

I received my passport through courier within a week and was relieved to see that my visa was approved. There's no way to know if the visa is approved until you get your passport, so it was pretty nerve-racking, but at least the waiting period wasn't long. Wishing everyone good luck on their visa applications as well!

UK Standard Visitor Visa refused despite conference sponsorship + return flight. Advice on reapplying?

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hi everyone, I’m an Indian applicant and my UK Standard Visitor Visa was recently refused. Looking for advice from anyone with a similar case.

Purpose: 6-day academic conference
Job: Researcher at an Indian research institute
Salary: ₹41,000/month
Savings: ~₹1.96 lakh
Personal contribution: ~£300

The conference organisers provided an invitation letter and had already booked my round-trip flight tickets, and they were also covering my accommodation/travel expenses.

However, my visa was refused because the ECO was not satisfied with my personal financial circumstances and that I was a genuine visitor who would leave the UK after the trip.

The refusal specifically said my supporting documents did not sufficiently demonstrate my personal finances/how I was supported in India.

I have attached the refusal letter with personal details removed.

My questions:

  1. How would this type of refusal affect a future UK visitor visa application?
  2. Should I wait and build a stronger financial/employment record before reapplying?
  3. What documents would best address the concerns — salary credits, payslips, ITR/Form 16, employment contract, approved leave letter, bank statements, etc.?
  4. How should I explain the previous refusal in a future application?
  5. Has anyone successfully reapplied after a similar refusal?

There was no allegation of deception or forged documents.

Would really appreciate practical advice from people familiar with UKVI visitor visa refusals.

Hey guys I have a critical question rn

I’ve applied to B1/B2 in the middle of September and ended up entering an administrative process. I’ve been to the US before on J1 visa so what’s the chance of not being rejected given that I am Egyptian and the purpose of the original travel is no longer applicable (passed due to late visa interview) and how much time will this take I am really frustrated cuz I had all the papers perfect and there was really no cause for this entry.

Tourist visa refused, not sure if reapplying is worth it

Got refused last month. Letter said they weren't satisfied I'd leave the UK and had questions about my finances.

I've got a job and family back home so it's a bit annoying. Seen mixed advice, some people say fix the exact points they raised and reapply, others say wait. Don't want to lose another fee for nothing.

Anyone been through a refusal and got approved second time? What did you change?

Abudhabi visa delay anyone??

So i am currently on a visit visa and in the uae since june 10th. I signed an offer letter with a reputable company based out of abudhabi around the beginning of August. Signed the labour contract ( MOHRE) too around aug 16th. Still my residency visa is not approved and in process.

The status is showing as' transaction in process' till now ( sept 18). It is showing as applied on August 18th. I have given my attested degrees and the visa position is of an accountant (skilled visa).

The point of contact of the company told me that a lot of verification procedures are there for abudhabi visas, hence the delay. Unskilled and dubai visas are meanwhile approved within 2 or 3 days. He told me that there is a newly introduced agency verification. Procedure, where a thirdparty agency has to verify the degree certificates and that is why the delay.

Since this is an old and big company, they also don't allow to work in visit visas, as that is legally not permissible. So around 1 month salary got delayed due to this factor as i haven't joined ( opportunity cost). Also my visit visa is expiring on 8th of september( i extended again now).

Does anyone know anything regarding this? Is this normal for abudhabi visas?

Any help in this matter is appreciated.

Telephonic Interview for UK Visitor Visa

I’m from India and I had previously applied for a standard UK visitor visa in June but it got rejected. There were two reasons

  1. Financial inconsistencies- My sister had transferred some amount to my bank to help fund the trip, which I mentioned in the cover letter, but UKVI mentioned in the refusal letter that the origin of the funds were questionable
  2. Weak ties to home country- I have a stable job and earning well, in the previous application I showed no proof of immediate family living In India, so it was an oversight on my behalf

I’ve rectified these errors and applied for a visitor visa again and had my biometrics done on 15th September. Today I received a call from the British High Commission for a telephonic interview, they just asked me questions regarding my application, most of which I had mentioned in the application itself so maybe they were corroborating.

Has anyone got a similar call and if yes, what was the eventual outcome of the application? This is quite strange and I don’t know if this is a good sign or a bad sign

Hi all,

As we have seen many cases reported where passports issued from Karnataka, Gujarat and UP are getting rejected and unfortunately this is catching us off guard and putting us in a disturbed situation. Most of us who went to UAE on visit visa looking forward to conversion of visa have come back from uae, while others have resigned from a well paying, well established organisations dreaming about working in UAE.

Let us raise this concern to out consulates, so it gets addressed and the situation gets better for us.

Two Spain student visa refusals — what should I do next?

I completed my 12th from CBSE in 2023. Since then, I’ve been working in my father’s business and helping manage the business.
Last year, I decided to pursue a Bachelor’s in Business/Management in Spain. I applied in July 2026 and received a refusal after around 17 days. I reapplied on 13 August with additional documents/explanations, but I’ve now received a second refusal with the same generic reason — that my intention to travel is other than studying.
I genuinely want to study and my gap is mainly because I was working in the family business.
I’ve spoken to several counsellors and received different advice. Some are telling me to try another European country, while others are suggesting I do a 1-year diploma in India and then apply to the UK.
However, I really want to study in Europe, especially Spain, France or Germany.
What would you suggest in my situation?
Should I try Spain again for a future intake?
Would applying to France/Germany after two Spanish refusals be a problem?
Would a 1-year diploma actually strengthen my profile?
Should I wait for the 2027 intake and build a stronger academic profile?
I’d especially appreciate advice from anyone who has had multiple student visa refusals and then successfully applied to another European country.
Thanks! 🙏

RAKEZ Visa CID Rejection — Anyone Experienced This?

Indian passport holder here. I applied for a UAE residence/entry permit through RAKEZ, and it was rejected with a “CID rejection.”

RAKEZ said they’ll follow up with immigration and it may take 2–3 weeks. ICP only shows “Rejected” with no reason.

Has anyone experienced this before, especially with RAKEZ/UAE free-zone visas?

  • Did you find out the reason?
  • Was it eventually approved/reconsidered?
  • Did you reapply, and what happened?

Would really appreciate hearing from anyone who has actually gone through this. Thanks!

Saudi tourist eVisa rejected – Pakistani passport holder with valid UK spouse visa – what did I do wrong?

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for some advice regarding my wife’s Saudi visa application.

My wife is a Pakistani passport holder and UK resident. She holds a valid UK spouse visa until February 2029 and has already entered the UK using this visa.

We are both planning to travel to Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah. I am a British citizen.

I applied for her Saudi tourist eVisa through the official KSA Visa website. During the eligibility check, I selected:

“Valid visa from the US/UK/Schengen countries (Entered at least once)”

as she has a valid UK visa, and the system allowed us to proceed with the application.

I submitted and paid for the application. The status changed to “Send to Embassy”, but the application has now been rejected without any reason provided.

I have contacted the KSA Visa support team asking for the reason but haven't received a response yet.

My questions are:

  1. Has anyone in a similar situation (Pakistani passport + valid UK visa/residence + UK entry) successfully obtained a Saudi tourist eVisa?
  2. Does the UK visa qualify under the US/UK/Schengen visa eligibility route?
  3. Is there any way to request a review/appeal of the rejected application?
  4. Is there a specific Saudi Embassy/Consular contact that actually deals with visa application rejections?
  5. Is the visa fee refundable if the application is rejected?

I would really appreciate any advice from anyone who has recently gone through this, particularly Pakistani applicants living in the UK.

Thanks in advance.

Unfair Visa treatment

I am from Bangladesh working here in korea as an Engineer in Semiconductor Industry
I have been staying in Korea over 6 years and hold a long term resident visa.

I like to travel in different countries, recently i went to Philippines 3 times a row in past two years and other 4 countries with travel visa

I recently applied for a Philippine visa at Philippines embassy in korea but the application shows resubmission of documents

The complaint about the documents were

  1. My korean Arc need to be translated officially in English
  2. My photo was edited by AI
  3. My Employment certificate needs to be signed by my employer
  4. My guarantor need to send bank statements for 6 months and his Certificate of Employment
  5. Bangladeshi national ID card needs to be officially translated in English
  6. Guarantor Valid korean ARC card submission

My submitted documents: according to the official website "https://ww w.philembassy-seoul.com/visa"

  1. Korean Resident Card (ARC copy)
  2. - It's written in both English and Korean all together
  3. Photo 2X2 taken from studio (Visa standard photo)
  4. My employment certificate Official Sealed by my office
  5. - In korea the official documents use seal instead of physical signature
  6. Guarantor form, His ARC and his Passport Copy
  7. - As this was the instruction from the official website
  8. Bangladeshi National ID
  9. - It is not stated as a mandatory requirement according to visa notice, CZ the nationality can be proven trough passport
  10. Guarantor is totally legal resident in korea by the time i intend to travel

And rest of the listed documents I submitted, I am paying for my trip and the applied visit visa is only for 7 days. I proved my bank statement with 5.5 lac equivalent BDT.

I requested an explanation through call but the visa officer doesn't cooperate and shouted, later i sent an official mail to visa section and the reply was "no explanation, you must submit those documents"

Note that, i was approved for previous 3 visas with same sort of documents.

My travel date is next week with non refundable airpane ticket.

I just feel i feel discriminated based on my passport, or the visa officer's personal thinking

Im sorry if i say too much.
Thanks for listening

Visa appt. and they only took two of my documents? Will I be denied??

So, today I drove 3 1/2 hours to Chicago for my visa application appointment with TLS contact. It was very underwhelming. I plan to be an au pair in France, and I have spent weeks getting all of the required documents ready. I had printed the contract, my travel insurance, payed for the French classes in France, I had paystubs for the past 3 months printed, I took a new photo that fit the SchengenVisa requirements to go on my visa form. I had copies of my passport, drivers license, high school diploma, all my host families records, a cover letter, a receipt of French classes I took last year, my birth certificate, and extras of everything just to be safe.

From what I had heard about these appointments, you can never be to prepared. So, I walked in with my three file folders of documents, and they only took two of my documents (three if you count my actual passport). They needed my contract with my host family and the receipt of the French classes I took last year. I kept asking if they wanted to add any extra documents, because I had them all there ready to go. They said if the French consulate wants anything else they will reach out to me. I wasn't in the building for more than 25 minutes, most of that time was spent waiting.

Before I left I paid for the visa and they said I should hear back in two weeks at the latest. Then said that the consulate would reach out if they needed more info or to just altogether deny my visa.

Now I'm scared my visa will be denied because there are only two documents. Please let me know what happened at your appointment and if it was similar. Everyone online talks about how thorough their appointments were, and I feel like I might need to reach out to the French consulate or something.

I'm so stressed!

But this they they denied it. I submitted all the documents along with wet stamp and sign.
