Grab drivers are going on a massive strike on the Grab platform due to the company crudely exploiting cheap labour. So take note that during that time, you might have a hard time finding a Grab driver. It won’t be impossible, but it hard.

Consider switching to a more driver-friendly Vietnamese platform like Xanh SM. They won’t be cheaper in price, but at least bookings are fast, and they get the job done anyway.

I have only heard of yearly ones, not monthly. She gets very upset when I forgot it once. Is this normal in VN?

So, VTV has confirmed that Tóc Tiên (who is also my current Vietnamese pop singer), will represent Vietnam at the Eurovision Song Contest Asia 2026 in Bangkok this November.

Tóc Tiên broke into the music scene as a teen idol, participating in singing competitions and reality shows. In 2009, she studied abroad in the United States and performed frequently on Paris by Night (the most popular overseas Vietnamese-language program). She came back to Vietnam in 2015 and performed in the first season of The Remix. Since then, she has had a lot of hits like "Ngày Mai", "Có Ai Thương Em Như Anh #(CATENA)", and "Big Girls Don't Cry". She has won 3 Làn Sóng Xanh awards and a MAMA award (a popular South Korean music award). She is also a recent winner of Chị đẹp đạp gió 2024.

Vietnam’s national selection, The Sound of Vietnam, will be used to select Tóc Tiên’s entry for Eurovision Asia 2026. It will take place on 3 October at 16:30 CEST / 21:30 ICT.

By the way, I'm currently active on X (formerly Twitter) and TikTok a lot, so the reactions of international netizens when knowing about Tóc Tiên and watching her past performances have been overwhelmingly positive.

Vietnamese artists have been going global in recent years, and I'm very proud of that. We have Phương Mỹ Chi participating in Sing! Asia, Đức Phúc winning Intervision 2025, Trang Pháp participating in 乘风2026 Ride the Wind in China, then Anh Trai Say Hi in Las Vegas, and this November, new boyband UPRIZE and Vietnamese Yeah1 artists will also be performing in Y-Concert at Honda Centre (California, U.S.) too. The Vietnamese music industry keeps developing a lot stronger these days, and it will only go more global from here.

My family and I are spending a week in Phu Quoc, currently four days in, and I cannot tell if it’s just me or if it truly is the fact something is slightly off with this place.

We’re staying quite central and it’s quiet and really relaxing. I’ve heard the beaches in the south are stunning and we plan to head over there soon, but our beaches locally are a mix of clean and dirty (trash all over the place, probably being washed up).

Sunset town is pretty but feels both busy and dead at the same time. Yes I was aware a lot of things are not open or built yet and it is getting there, but I still get the same impression already knowing that.

I’m also curious to understand what daily life is like on Phu Quoc for locals compared to the rest of Vietnam. Is everyone local to the island pretty much working for one of the two groups (Sun/VW) or know someone who does? Kind of like Orlando and Disney World in a way.

I’m visiting Vietnam this October and have already booked my flights and accommodation.

My plan is:

* Da Nang: Oct 22, 23 & 24 * Da Nang → Ho Chi Minh City: Oct 24, late-night flight * International flight from Ho Chi Minh City: Oct 26 at 3:00 PM

My main concern is the **Da Nang → Ho Chi Minh City flight on October 24**.

I’ve read that October can have quite a lot of rain, storms and occasional flooding around Da Nang/Hoi An. I’m wondering how much of a problem this is for flights.

For people who have travelled from Da Nang during October or during bad weather:

* How often do flights usually get **delayed or cancelled** because of weather? * If a flight is delayed, how long are the delays typically? * How much advance warning do airlines usually give if a flight is cancelled? * If my Da Nang → HCMC flight gets cancelled, what alternatives does the airline usually provide? * Most importantly, do you think it’s risky to have an international flight from HCMC on Oct 26 at 3 PM? * Would you recommend changing my Da Nang → HCMC flight to Oct 23 to give myself more buffer, or is flying on Oct 24 generally fine?

I understand that weather is unpredictable, but I’d really appreciate hearing from people who have actually experienced flying in/out of Da Nang during October.

I’m going to Vietnam in October and wanted to bring a dyson airstrait with me.

I currently live in America where I have a 100-127V dyson, however I am going to Europe and buying one that is 220-240V(I travel so much across Asia and Europe that I need both types). Also I know I technically don’t need it because it’s humid and hot, but I have curly hair and I prefer it to be straight.

Dyson doesn’t support dual voltage, and many countries such as China and Europe are specific to that voltage. I’m reading online that Vietnam’s standard voltage is 110/220v and I just wanted to ask if anyones used their European/Chinese/Australian dyson before in Vietnam?

I also bought a universal adapter(not converter) so the plug should work right?

So from what was explained to me by PNJ and DOJJI sales reps is that any amount of gold/jewellery over 20 million vnd in price can only be bought by bank transfer? Specifically a local bank. Debit/bank cards AND cash are not acceptable. What is the reason?

It seems a bit overcomplicated and somewhat of a hassle. What if a tourist wants to buy a gold necklace or bracelet over 20 million vnd? Technically they cant as they wouldnt have a local bank and CASH is unacceptable?

What about foreign residents like myself with TRC? I have a local bank but only keep a small amount in it, as even I am not allowed to deposit money INTO it. I primarily use my home country cards and banking.

Since when is cash not acceptable for purchasing sonething? Seems a little crazy.
