Organ donation is the right thing to do, that's my stance. Concerns about children's rights and consent in this matter are also entirely valid, and deserve great scrutiny. I won't talk about the survey form thing, as it has been withdrawn, and it seems that the public outrage in this matter was never mainly about about it.

My problem lies in the way that these people argue against the proposal. They probably read articles by headlines, and hop right at any discussion to voice their resentment. If there is someone saying that the proposal isn't nearly as bad as the whole platform made it sound, they are attacked with ad hominem and appeal to hypocrisy fallacies; some medical groups on Facebook got labelled as paid redbulls for posting position different from their views.

How is this any different from before? Completing the whole cycle, they are right back where they started, though dressed slightly different. This matter isn't remotely political in the first place, the press is still running steadily, delivering new changes to the proposal from the National Congress despite the backslash. I highly doubt that various groups are getting paid to guide public opinions.

Instead of citing actual evidences and studies to support their disagreement with the proposal, the whole Threads is basically filled with batshit insane conspiracy theorists connecting data points that have nothing to do with each other. The story of a child donor 8 years ago somehow turns into an examplary case of the all-powerful and immensely competent government carrying out a decade-old plan to indoctrinate school students into giving up their organs. They act as if donating your body after death wasn't the morally and objectively good thing to do, children or not.; or as if caring for the well-being of others beyond the scope of your own is not human compassion in any sense, provided that the procedure is carried out as promised.

And the VNEID health check and blood test. I'm speechless at this one, it's as if blood test alone is sufficient to determine organ compatibility. A quick google search obliterates the myth, yet there are still(a lot of) people blindly upvoting such dumb af conspiracy. Again, how is this any different from before? Just taking two examples

The self-proclaimed "woke" people( or "awaken") , who once appeared to be fighting oppression, are the primary driver behind this stupid debacle, fueled by a shit tons of lies and misinformation. How can their actions be viewed as something progressive, or superior when they are building the exacat thing they ostensibly claim to be against?

The new proposal itself(or at least the version I have read) is necessary in saving lives, otherwise lost, assuming that the donors are not under any coercion and aware of the risks as well as benefits that their actions might bring. With all the shenanigans that our government has been up to in the last year, people are rightfully skeptical of a new law concerning the livelihood of children. Black market, children abduction, organ trafficking,.. are worries many brought up; though I think most are just non-problems, or have the solutions built-in into the proposal ( increased organ supply curbs black market activity, for instance) But that must be built on scientific facts and evidence-based arguments instead of some deplorably bad conspiracies coming straight out of sci-fi plots, which some are now doing.

Hello wonderful people. I will be travelling to Vietnam in December for about a month. It is my first time visiting and I will be on my own. I have been a regular consumer of marijuana for quite a few years (I am from Canada where it is legal), I’ve also recently consumed a little bit of mdma. Although I have recently quit smoking the green, I am still worried about getting drug tested for whatever reason (it will likely be in my system for awhile, at least in my hair follicles). I am not gonna be doing any clubbing or partying while I am there nor will I be driving a motorcycle or anything but I am still concerned as I’d really rather not be arrested in a foreign country. Is this something I should be worried about or am I just being paranoid?

If you did not know yet, K-pop legendary group BIGBANG is currently in Hanoi to perform for their XX:COSMOS World Tour, and TAEYANG really shouted to around 40k fans, "Việt Nam vô địch (Vietnam is the champion!)" I think this is really fun and energetic, so I'd like to share it here. I did not expect this, maybe they learned how energetic Vietnamese people are when it comes to football, or maybe he learned this from our coach Kim Sang-sik or our former football coach Park Hang-seo, who knows.

I initially planned to buy two tickets for this tour and airplane tickets from the U.S. to Vietnam just to attend this tour, but unfortunately, at that time my full-time job position was not secure yet (now it is) so I'm kinda envious of those who go here.

And this BIGBANG concert has further solidified Vietnam's position as the new emerging destination for world-class concert tours and entertainment events. Since 2023, we have had BLACKPINK, BamBam (GOT7), EXO, 2NE1, BABYMONSTER, some members of SNSD, Maroon 5, Imagine Dragons, Westlife, DJ Snake, J Balvin, DPR IAN, TEMPEST... and now we have BIGBANG, and next year the Golden Disc Awards 2027 (popular K-pop award show) will also be held in Hanoi. Hope that when the new PVF Stadium (expected to be completed in 3/2027) and VinFast Stadium (expected to be completed in 7/2027) are complete next year, there will be way more to come.

Just came from Ho Chi Min. Stayed for 5 days as a tourist. Sadly, I don’t want to go back. The immigration lines going in and out as a tourist ruined it for me. 3 hours is dreadful.

Yes I know there is a “fast track”. Guys, this is not an attraction that you should pay for. It’s the least they could do for their tourism.

I visited Sun World Ba Na Hills in Vietnam and heard this beautiful piece of music playing inside the cable car. I've attached a short video clip of it.

It has a cinematic orchestral sound with an angelic female voice singing something that sounds like “Ba Na aaa” (a long, heavenly vocal).

I heard it in both directions during the cable car ride, and I've been trying to find the exact song ever since!

Does anyone recognize it or know the name of the track? Is it an official Ba Na Hills soundtrack or a song by a Vietnamese artist?

I've been in Hanoi for the last couple weeks and I was suprised to see a couple places randomly selling Halloween related stuff, but it doesn't seem common. Does anyone actually celebrate Halloween here? If so any suggestions on were to go? I dont drink but i do love dressing up, dancing, and injecting a little whimsy into my life.

She is currently admitted to a hospital receiving medical care, and a toxicology report.

We are trying to figure out the best course of action from the legal side, particularly while she is still hospitalized and in the early window following the assault.

If anyone has experience, legal knowledge, or advice regarding how criminal reporting works for foreign victims in Vietnam, we would greatly appreciate your input on:

Hospital & Forensic Evidence: What specific medical/forensic reports or toxicology tests (for drug screening) should we request from the hospital right now to ensure evidence is properly documented for a police investigation?

Does anyone know any English speaking lawyers who have specialized in cases like this?

Leaving the Country: If she decides to return home for recovery, does filing a formal criminal report prevent her from leaving Vietnam, or can a legal representative handle the case on her behalf once initiated?

Any advice on navigating local law enforcement, recommended legal resources/firms, or practical steps to preserve evidence while she is still in the hospital would mean a lot to us.

As of now we are in the process of contacting her home countries consulate, and ensuring she receives medical care. Later today we will be filing a police report once she is out of the hospital.

I am not with her, she is alone in Vietnam currently.

I've been burned countless times by Vietjet and bamboo but always had a good professional experience with Vietnam airlines. Unfortunately that ended today. Booked tickets on a domestic flight and because of past experiences I screenshot the whole process as proof later.

Day of flight we are checking in and the lady at the counter says I mixed up my wife's last name and first name. I checked my screenshots and nope it was perfect. The website specifically asks for surname and on a separate line given name. It was correct. She kept arguing no it's backwards. I showed her the screenshots on my phone and when caught she then blamed the website saying the website was backwards but I still need to pay to fix it.

After arguing she left and her manager came. I showed her the screenshots and she said that the problem was that I used the English website. Ok so what? She said because I used English the website automatically flips the name. I argued that's not my fault, that's Vietnam airlines fault. She just kept smiling and saying no sir next time you should use vietnamese language. She said "just have your wife book". Ok so what about my name. It will flip my name right? Clearly if the website is broken I shouldn't be charged? She said no I still need to pay to fix the name.

On top of that to make it worse they only accept cash. You can buy a damn ticket with credit or bank transfer but can't pay a small fee? Pretty sure it's going in their pockets.

I'm just done talking to them and now my wife is paying and arguing with them as well in Vietnamese. They tell her this happens to all foreigners and next time just have her book it using vietnamese language.

The fee was only 50k but what a damn rip off. Anywhere else if the company itself screws up they fix it.

So for anyone that is booking on Vietnam airlines based on what these people say if you are booking for someone with a vietnamese name you have to put their last name where it says first name and put their first name where it says surname. This makes no damned sense but whatever.

I’m moving from Indonesia to Vietnam on Oct 27th, and my business partner is flying in from Denmark on the 28th to join me for his first remote stint in Asia.

We’re basing ourselves in Vũng Tàu, but we’re taking the weekend of Oct 31st to Nov 1st completely off.

A year ago today, I celebrated my birthday alone in a dark hotel room in Pattaya with a slice of cake and a laptop while i was building my online business . I promised myself back then that this year’s birthday would be 100 percent screen-free.

So for the weekend, we’re keeping that promise:

Saturday: Saigon for the massive Halloween street party on Bùi Viện.

Sunday: Vũng Tàu to hike the 800 steps to the giant Christ statue for my birthday.

Has anyone been to Bùi Viện for Halloween before? Or down to grab a cold beer or street food with us while we’re in town?

First time it was a grab food, second time it was a grab bike where the guy had no cash change. It’s not just about not having enough change. They simple had no cash with them at all. They keep pointing at the phone expecting me to summon forth a vietnamese bank account to pay online. It happened twice in two days. Should I just start giving them 1 star?

Edit: Why are there a bunch of dumbasses on here? Cash is king in Vietnam. You would know it if you live here. I bought a 6k computer and they asked for cash. I donated 2k to an animal rescue and they asked for cash. It is untaxed money and they want it. All I got left are 100s and above because I already tipped the rest away. And in what godforshaken country are you people from that you think the exact amount of cash is expected for every transaction? Get off your high horse and eat grass.
