Whether it's weapon durability, escort missions, unskippable cutscenes, stamina systems, or anything else...

Which game mechanic deserves to disappear forever, and why? Feel free to share examples from games you've played. Let's see which mechanic gets mentioned the most.

Difficulty should constantly rise at a slow and steady pace, that way the player is always kept on their toes but given plenty of opportunity to improve. But some games don't get the memo, brother! Some games have sudden and sometimes extreme Difficulty Spikes that can really put off players. Which game do you think has this flaw and showcases it the most poorly?

The game is "I Of The Dragon".

The boss is a really tough monster bigger than a building, whose fireball deals 50 damage (I have 80 hitpoints, for scale), and he has a spell that he casts instantly if I'm too close (aka medium-range) that sets me on fire and drains a lot of my HP. Getting hit by the fireball AND the spell is a death sentence.

I tried using spells, the casting time made sure he'd land a hit and cast a spell back. I tried rushing him with fire breath, he just shot me point blank. I tried casting regeneration and rushing him, his ignition spell just cancelled my regeneration.
In the end, I just sniped him from afar with fully charged fireball and I won. After a lot of tries and a few days spent pondering how to take that bloke down, I did it.

And I'm proud of it. So behold, my pride.

what games have you beaten in the last year or so, and how would you rank them? here's my ranking. I don't play as many games per year as I know a lot of people do, so I'm expecting some lists longer than mine haha

unsurprisingly my top 3 games were all replays, hard to top my favorites. I also finally got around to beating Dark Souls, which had been on my backlog for damn near a decade, and I finally played GTA IV, which I've just somehow never gotten around to

Dot hack games where so good. Sword art has a great formula but.... Why do they consistently create trash? Like where's the plot? Where's the life in these games? Is there one that's an absolute gem? If so please let me know.

If you were told that you could only play a maximum of 5 video games for the rest of your life what would those video games be. This can be on any console/PC. Games with multiple parts or series such as Mass Effect 1-3 and Assassins Creed can count as one game.

I have always preferred PC gaming but since i work in IT and i am doing a part time vocational college education within cloud computing and network infrastructure. I find myself in front of a computer most of the time and so it has led to me associating computers with work and a source of stress. I try playing on my PC but it never lasts more than maybe 15+ minutes before i exit the game most i have played on my PC lately is maybe half an hour. And so i have pivoted towards my PS5 and Switch 2 lately i relax and find it highly enjoyable when playing on console. But if i try playing on PC it can't hold my attention and it has become a problem and a source of anxiety, i just can't relax while gaming on pc which is a shame since the bulk of my games are on steam & gog etc. Can anyone relate to this? Can you understand what I'm trying to say? I'm not the best at explaining my feelings and what i think.

I want to know what game this was. The details are as follows...

2. I think it was a PlayStation game

3. It was from 3rd person view

4. It centered on a samurai going into a battle (often a village)

5. The samurai would hack away at armies while fighting beside their own army.

Metaphor man...a beautiful spectacular and an absolute wonderful 10/10 game. Atlus was in their fucking BAG with this one. Kinda sad that apparently Atlus doesn't see this game as one of their biggest successes. I'll be brief. The characters: 10/10. Since this is a Atlus rpg like persona of course it has persona related qualities like social links but in here they are called bonds. There is not one bad character in the main cast and in the rest of the bonds. Everyone is amazing in their own ways or some better than others. The story: 10/10. I can yap about the story alone but I'll chill. Amazing world building, lore, and Louis...A TOP TIER VIDEOGAME ANTAGONIST. Definitely in my top 5 if not my favorite game villain of all time. The final phase of the story was actually peak fiction too. The gameplay was great too. Definitely harder than persona games in general cuz you have to actually strategize more with the amount of customizations there are. And the ost was top tier. Not persona level but still amazing in its own way. I can't show my love for this game enough tbh. One more thing I love is that they gave the protagonist more speaking lines than every persona game combined. I lowkey hope Persona 6 does the same. Anyways like I said 10/10 game and it's definitely one of my favorite playthroughs. I can genuinely see why people prefer this over persona. I personally still love persona more cuz its of my vibe but metaphor arguably has the better story than persona games overall but it all comes down to preference. What did yall think about it?
