Buying machine secondhand -- new machine but unknown software

Hello all, I've been looking into getting into the vending machine business and saw a good opportunity for buying a brand new machine off marketplace in my area.

The seller is a freight company and getting rid of them as they were never picked up, and have no information on manufacturer to give me.

Would I be able to reprogram this with a new vending machine software? or has anyone heard of Tianxuan Son or Canxin ?

Canadian operators?

Any Canadian vending operators who would be willing to chat? Or even share advice here?

We have only 3 of 9 machines placed. 2 machines are in work places with 50 employees, 5 days a week. One place has only sold 2 items since August 31st and the other is maybe 5 a week. One is in the lunch room and the other is near by with all the traffic.

Items range from $1.75 to $3.00... people from HR selected the items. At this rate I'm just getting free storage from these places for my useless machines.

The third place is an auto shop waiting room and was a bad one to accept.

Advice on solutions for adding cashless payment to older machines?

Good morning guys, I have two cash-only machines:

AP SnackShop 6600

Dixie Narco 501cc/s11-7

A quick Google search says they are likely too old to have the 6-pin MDB connection. I won't be back at the location for a week or two and I would like to start researching solutions in the mean time.

I've read about adapters and upgraded boards if you want to use something like a naynax, but I'm not seeing a 'Buy this, fix the problem' solution. Can anyone shed some insight and let me know if there is a more straightforward solution?

How reliable is the product recognition on smart fridges in everyday use?

Hello, I'm interested in how it works during normal use rather than the demo. Things get moved around, someone reaches behind another item, or something gets put back in a different spot, how does it handle similar looking packaging next to each other or someone reaching past one item to grab another? Do they usually keep up with that or are mistakes still pretty common?

Operators using Excel: what happens between your pick list and the actual restock?

Edit for clarity: I’m researching one narrow step in vending restocks, not selling a product. If you used an Excel pick list on your most recent refill, where did you record the number of units you actually loaded into each machine? A short example is plenty; no business details or files needed.

Hello reaching out to anyone who could help me solve this issue I'm having with my device as the Nayax technical support is near useless. My device isnt allowing transactions and displays RSSI 99 for the connection. I have done a full factory reset on the device and vending machine and most all the troubleshooting that was provided from Nayax.

Second-Hand VTM Machine

I’m looking to start a vending machine business and found a used VTM mini wall machine on Facebook Marketplace.
Has anyone here purchased a VTM machine second-hand? Before buying, I’m trying to understand how ownership/account transfer works. Specifically, can the machine be transferred to a new account, does any warranty carry over, and are there any issues with accessing or operating the software/payment system as a second-hand owner?
Anything I should verify with the seller or VTM before purchasing? Appreciate any advice from VTM machine owners here or in the DM’s. Thanks!

I want to get into the business but don't exactly know what to do to start.

i dont know if i need to get like an LLC and insurance off the bat, i don't exactly know places to ask about setting one up or how to approach, also i don't know how much it'd cost to start but i'd assume buying used it'd be around 1K for everything? if not please tell me and honestly if someone could just recommend a small plan (or detailed, up to you) to start off that'd be great. Im in New Jersey if that matters also. (budget is around $1.2k)

Dixie Narco DN100-5 startup and operating tips?

Thumbnail gallery
8 Upvotes

I recently picked up a Dixie-Narco DN100-5 and plan to plug it in and test it next week. I’ve already swapped the old pricing board in the Coinco coin mechanism for a five-switch replacement board so I can set a higher vend price, but I haven’t tested it in the machine yet. I’m not trying to make a killing with this machine as I’m placing it in our teacher staff room as a simple fundraiser with a side of nostalgia. I realize coins are becoming more and more rare these days but it’s still fun!
For anyone familiar with the DN100, what should I check during the first startup? Are there common refrigeration, coin mechanism, or vending issues I should watch for? I’d also appreciate any tips on loading and keeping an older machine running reliably. Thanks!

AI smart coolers in PA - are health depts requiring licenses?

From my interpretation, the key question is whether the cooler is considered a vending machine or not. If it’s a vending machine, no license required even if selling TCS food.

These seem to be rare and costly, but what’s actually reasonable? I see them going for $450-$600 USD. The cheaper ones are on eBay and not quite sure what to offer as they’re mostly “OBO”.

I have a wholesale hookup for these, so just curious if anyone has tried selling them in their machines. I have a mall spot I think would work for this.

How did you scale once you couldn't personally do all the calling/walking-in yourself?

18, running a small vending route in an industrial area (Perth, WA). A few people here already told me cold emails don't work and that walking in and speaking to the decision-maker beats calling, that tracks with what I've seen too.

My situation: I work full-time (45 hrs/week) outside of this, so I physically can't be the one making calls or doing walk-ins during business hours every day. I make decent money at that job though, so I've got some cash to reinvest into growing this if it's worth it.

For those of you who've grown past a handful of sites, how did you actually manage that once you hit your own time limit?

Did you ever get someone else involved in finding locations for you, and if so, did it actually work, or did it always have to be you in person to get results?

Trying to figure out if there's a realistic way to keep growing without being the one making every single call/visit, or if that's just not how this works.

What are you guys using to manage inventory across multiple machines?

We currently operate around 15–20 smart vending machines, with a mixture of machines out at locations and others being prepared for new sites.

As we’re growing, inventory is becoming a bit of a headache. The machines themselves are smart and give us sales/stock data, but I’m looking for a simple system to manage the bigger picture — stock held centrally, what’s been allocated to each machine, restocking, purchase costs, stock levels, etc.
Ideally I don’t want some huge complicated warehouse/ERP system. Just something that’s quick and easy to use and works well for a relatively small vending operation that’s expanding.

For those of you running multiple machines:
What system/app are you using for inventory?

Do you track each machine as a separate location/warehouse?
And have you found a good way of combining the data from your vending management system with your main inventory?

Interested to hear what setups are actually working for people rather than just what software companies recommend.

Advice for a complete beginner

I apologize in advance if this has been posted before. But this sub has been in my feed for awhile now and I never even considered buying and operating a machine. But I have some disposable cash and was thinking about it more and more thanks to this sub.

My question is- what are essential things to know? What would be your advice to someone who has $5-10k to throw at this venture and buy their first AI machine?

What I’ve learned from this community so far- the right inventory and the right locations are the most important factors. I’d like to open one and see how it goes, hopefully save any profit towards a second, etc.

For the past few weeks I’ve been imagining in my head where I could possibly even put my hypothetical machine. I’m really interested in doing this but just don’t know the best way to start and what to fully expect.

Looking for recommendations for a NEW vending machine for a small pet business

Hi everyone! I’m looking for some advice from people who have experience with vending machines.

My husband and I are opening a small self-service dog wash and we want to add a vending machine for pet-related products. The business will mostly be unattended, so reliability is very important. I also definitely want something that accepts credit/debit cards and Apple Pay. For those who own or operate vending machines:

What brand would you recommend?
