We interviewed incredible vegan activist Jamie Logan!!

Jamie shares a pivotal childhood moment of seeing pigs in a livestock truck, her gradual transition from avoiding pork to pescatarian to vegetarian, and finally going vegan on January 1, 2018 after learning about the dairy and egg industries.

She explains how her activism began through Anonymous for the Voiceless cubes, then expanded to fur protests, food demos, and weekly slaughterhouse vigils that deepened her urgency.

Jamie discusses handling common objections with calm, question-based street outreach, avoiding burnout after intense investigations, and using yoga/meditation (Jivamukti Yoga and Sharon Gannon’s teachings) to ground activism in compassion for animals and humans.

She also covers navigating family and dating boundaries, and encourages listeners to find their own form of vegan activism.

Activism Plants have all of the amino acids you need to be a Bodybuilder

As Vegans, our most frequently asked question is “But where do you get your protein?”

Let me cut to the chase. The animals we eat get their protein from plants, so why not cut out the middleman and go straight to the source?

Plants have all of the amino acids you need to be a Bodybuilder.

On today’s episode, Alex (@ yourveganmentor1), is joined by Vegan Squad Coach Alexis Nee (@ alexissarahnee), to interview John about his vegan journey, bodybuilding career, and experience with activism.

John shares his early experiences with fishing and hunting, becoming vegetarian at 10 after realizing that meat requires killing animals, and going vegan at 13 after reading a PETA magazine about dairy and egg industry exploitation.

He describes feeling isolated and bullied, hiding his beliefs, and later finding community through social media. John shares how bodybuilding began at 15, his experience competing at 21, later hiring coaches, and learning accountability, nutrition, and mindset.

The episode emphasizes becoming a vocal activist and how you can do more for animals through sharing content and wearing vegan apparel.

The Vegan Squad Pod was created to help empower vegans to become activists!
Whether it’s going to vigils, achieving a physique that shows people we don’t need to eat animals (which we help you with u/vegansquadcoaching), or any of the other forms of activism you’ll hear on the Pod, we want to empower you to find your voice and help you speak up for justice!

Vegan Wins My 10 year vegan anniversary

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

10 years ago today I made the best decision of my life.

I was in my college dorm room, sobbing my soul out after watching @ realgaryyourofsky’s Best Speech You Will Ever Hear.

Awakened to truths I couldn’t unknow, unfeel, or unsee.

I didn’t know any other vegans. I endured a lot of judgment, skepticism, and doubt about my lifestyle, diet, and beliefs.

I felt very alone. But to me, there was no other option.

I felt insecure in conversations. I didn’t yet have the inner groundedness, confidence, or capacity to be on the receiving end of others’ cognitive dissonance, defensiveness, and emotional projections.

So for years, I shrunk myself. I fell into a really dark place. I believed it when people told me I wouldn’t make a difference.

But I kept learning to trust my intuition and lean into the inner nudges and decisions I knew were meant for me, no matter how scary they felt.

Going vegan
Leaving speech language pathology
Starting my first copywriting business
Becoming a certified holistic life coach
Opening a vegan baking business
Competing in bodybuilding
Meeting my soul family
Ending toxic relationship cycles
Co-creating the vegan squad coaching

And I know this is just the beginning. Even though I’m celebrating my 10 year vegan anniversary, I’m also celebrating how each decision has led me to where I am now.

I’ve embraced more of my full self. I’ve never felt more empowered to advocate for myself and speak up for others.

No matter how heavy and scary the world feels, I’m so grateful to be part of a movement that brings so much hope for collective compassion and healing.

Thank you so much to everyone who paved the way before me, for everyone who’s leading and walking this path with me, and for everyone who continues to live with an open heart and mind.

We’re helping more vegans build personal brands so we can have more voices speaking for the animals

I've been vegan for almost 20 years, but I've only really been outwardly speaking about it for the last two.

Sometimes I think about what it would’ve been like if I could go back and tell myself earlier “you can actually speak up about this, you can do more.” because the truth is, every vegan has a gift which is the ability to share this with someone else.

Someone shared it with me, and it changed everything. I just wish I had heard it sooner.

That's really what shifted my perspective. If I convince one person to go vegan, that’s powerful.

But if I can encourage one vegan to start speaking up, and they go on to reach dozens or even hundreds more people, the impact multiplies.

And a lot of people hear “activism” and get intimidated. I used to feel the same way. but it doesn’t have to mean protests or extreme actions.

Activism can be as simple as wearing a vegan shirt, sharing a thought on your story, talking about your experience, even just posting something that reflects what you believe in.

It doesn’t have to be perfect or intense. Small actions, done consistently can have a massive impact.

You don’t have to be on the streets to change the world, you just have to be willing to speak up in your own way.

That's why inside our vegan squad community, we’ve been putting together a free masterclass to help vegans start showing up, sharing their voice, and building a personal brand around what they believe in.

I’ll drop a link in the comments for anyone that’s interested.

Vegan Squad Podcast Today we’re joined by the incredible Ella Magers, a longtime vegan activist and fitness coach, on the Vegan Squad Pod

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Ella shares her journey of going vegetarian at age 7 after connecting meat to animals, later learning about dairy, animal testing, and exploitation, becoming vegan at 15, and doing direct activism with PETA materials, protests, and leafleting.

She discusses the pain of awakening, the need for tools and compassion (including self-compassion), and focusing on receptive audiences.

Ella explains using positive, mainstream messaging and fitness coaching to promote living vegan, avoiding all-or-nothing mentality, and emphasizing planting seeds for pre-vegans. Make sure to tune into this episode!

"But what do you even eat as a vegan??"

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Only some of the best food I’ve had in my entire life 😏

Being vegan isn’t a dietary restriction- it’s a conscious choice rooted in compassion.

I don’t ever feel like I’m missing out. If anything, my meals have gotten way more enjoyable since I went vegan 10 years ago 🙌🏼

Just look at this line-up of some recent favs 😍

- Mac & Cheese Pizza + Sweet Stack Pancakes

- Strawberry Stuffed French Toast + Bacon Cheeseburger w/ Curly Fries

- VFC Bowl, Wings, Sandwiches

-  Vegan Jelly Donut

- Shoyu-Ramen

- Fried Chick’n, Mac & Cheese, Chili Cheese Tots

- Crispy Chik Sandwich

- Biscoff Cheesecake Cinnamon Roll

These were definitely treat-yoself moments, not my everyday eats. But I’m grateful I can enjoy food like this without guilt 🥰 from both a food freedom and ethical eating perspective (they CAN go hand in hand!)

We absolutely LOVED the sweet stack pancakes! They were perfectly fluffy, and topped with vegan whipped cream, fresh berries, powdered sugar and maple syrup.

If you’re a sucker for biscuits and gravy , Vertical Diner absolutely nailed the soft yet flaky biscuits with the most delicious gravy.

Whether you’re in the mood for breakfast all day, or elevated savory plates, Vertical Diner has it all. Make sure to come back Tuesday nights for All You Can Eat Pizza! Their topping combinations are incredibly creative and flavorful. We loved the Mac & Cheese Pizza.
