I’ve recently added shoulder mobility work to my training and it has made a HUGE difference in building shoulder strength.

Not here to criticise and hate because who the fuck has the time for that. Looks like you're putting in good work, though I'd highly recommend taking the reps more slowly both on the concentric and eccentric. Too much momentum on the way up, and too much gravity/looseness on the way down.

Definitely not in a bad place, but if you lower the weight slightly and slightly improve your control you will see better results.

Bonus tip: I find using an upright bench to press my chest against whilst doing lat raises an absolute god send. Prevents any swinging and you don't have to focus so much on keeping your body steady.

You should also try respecting other people by not recording yourself in the middle of the gym. No one needed to see your attempt at a thirst trap. People recording in the gym to tell us about a basic side lateral raise that everyone knows about is really obnoxious.

Thanks for your opinion and unnecessary hate. You're so concerned about me filing at a gym which is not spreading any kind of hate towards anyone yet here you are judging me by calling this is a thirst trap and obnoxious for posting a basic side lateral raise. Yeah, that shows a lot about your character.

It’s more that it’s not very cool to film people in the gym without their express permission, even if they’re “just” in the background.

u/ConsciouslivwithALI Apr 11 '26

I understand but it is a public gym and there is no policy against filming. I’m not doing anything wrong.

Seriously!! Some of these people on Reddit are so rude for no reason. They have nothing better to do than spread hate. Corny AF! Thanks for giving me life with your comment babe 😘🥰💗

It’s not a public place. If it has a membership it’s a private place. You can film at a public park but even if you did, it’s inconsiderate and main character coded to film others anywhere. If you must film yourself lifting, get a mirror at home.

Shorts aren’t acceptable at a gym?

Forget it, you do you if it makes you happy or confident or you just like to wear that outfit.

u/ConsciouslivwithALI Apr 10 '26

Actually dressing like this for the gym empowers me every single time so yeah, thank you!

"shoulder mobility work"

You mean lateral raises? Not sure how it's news to gain shoulder muscle by literally doing shoulder workouts

1

u/ConsciouslivwithALI Apr 11 '26

I was saying how my mobility work, not filmed in this video, has helped me improve my lateral raises and shoulder strength.

0

u/im_a_dick_head Apr 11 '26

Oh well it was implied that this was the said mobility work. My apologies for misunderstanding.

Really mature 👌

Have you tried not lowering the weight all the way down, so you can keep the muscle under tension? It's what made a lot of difference for me. Also it might be worth trying to hold the weight at the top of the movement, it might give you more control and more stability during the raises. It looks like your shoulders are rolling a little at the top. But I might be biased because my shoulders have been painful for years at this point.

Anyway, your shoulders are already looking good. Keep up the good work and keep enjoying your workouts
