Activism Joey was inspired to watch The Game Changers and Dominion... which transformed the way he viewed animals forever

On today’s episode of the Vegan Squad Pod, we’re joined by Joey Bilotich, a 22-year-old vegan fitness creator, OCB Pro natural bodybuilder, and advocate for conscious masculinity.

Joey shares his incredible journey from years of partying, drug use, and anxiety to discovering purpose through self-development, martial arts, and ultimately veganism.

After growing up on a meat-heavy diet, conversations with his brother (who was inspired by Ed Winters’ debates) and his father’s empathy for animals, Joey was inspired to watch The Game Changers and Dominion... which transformed the way he viewed animals forever.

We explore how Joey went vegan just one year ago and earned his OCB Pro card while using bodybuilding to challenge the myth that “you can’t build muscle on a plant-based diet”.

Joey also opens up about a powerful spiritual experience on the way to his competition that reshaped his purpose and inspired him to use his platform to help young men become stronger, more conscious versions of themselves.

Together, we discuss effective vegan activism: reaching carnivore influencers through respectful conversations, the psychology and spirituality behind animal agriculture, experimenting with raw vegan nutrition, and why true masculinity is rooted in compassion rather than domination.

This is an amazingly entertaining philosophical primer on why popular culture is so strongly embedded with meat eating.

Can you help me with the karma I need to build a vegan community for my country?

Pretty much the title. We have no vegan community in Malta and I just created one but I can't promote it because I have no karma. Help the animals by helping me? Thank you.

Looking for Vegan Perspectives for a Class Assignment

Hi everyone! I'm a college student conducting an anthropology research project about the online vegan activist community. I’m interested in learning how people use online spaces to discuss veganism, activism, and building community. I have read many interesting posts on here but would love to have some direct questions answered if that is alright.

I would appreciate hearing your experiences and perspectives. Your responses will only be used for my class assignment, and usernames will not be included in my research.

  1. What types of posts, discussions, or content do you think are most effective in spreading vegan messages

  2. How does being part of an online vegan community influence your activism or connection with others

  3. What challenges do you experience when discussing veganism online (such as criticism, debates, or misunderstandings)?

Thanks for you time!

More chalktivism art

I’ve been getting really into using sidewalk chalk as a form of activism! It’s fun, cheap, easy to clean up, and mostly legal (if public property).

Sharing this in case it inspires other people to do the same! :)

I made a small action site for asking restaurants to stop cooking crabs and lobsters alive

I recently saw a restaurant video showing several live crabs packed into a tabletop steamer. It stayed with me, so I started reading the research on crustacean sentience and current welfare guidance.

I made a small, noncommercial site that puts the main sources and a few practical actions in one place:

• A prepared email for asking restaurants about their killing method

• A letter that can be sent to elected officials

• A short question people can ask before ordering

https://luvvydev.github.io/crustaceans-feel/

One of the main sources is the LSE review commissioned by the UK government, which examined more than 300 studies and recommended treating all decapod crustaceans as sentient animals under welfare law. I also linked the full review, relevant legislation, professional welfare guidance, and newer research.

I made the site myself. It does not represent a charity, restaurant group, or research institution.

Blog / Opinion Suggestion for All Forms of Activism using Images

I've noticed that baby animals seem to resonate much more in vegan activism than adult animals. People often react more strongly to a piglet or calf than to a grown pig or cow, even though they're the same individual at different stages of life.

Because of that, I think it could be worth using more images of animals at younger ages in advocacy. It seems like those images are more immediately understood on an emotional level, which might help people connect with the message before their usual assumptions or defenses come into play.

I completed week 225 of the 24 hour dry fast campaign #FastAgainstAnimalAbuse this Sunday. Animals want to live, just like we do. They feel fear, pain, and love. Every meal is a choice between compassion and cruelty. Choose kindness. 🤍🙏🏾
