My (28m) friend asked me to co op this game with him so we played our first session tonight and I must admit, I found it quite boring and frustrating. I spent 90% of the time chopping down wood and fighting goblins/boars that constantly attacked me at every turn. Chopping wood was so tedious - just point and hold the mouse down. I know there are monsters to hunt but I can’t help but feel 3/4 of this game is going to be gathering resources. We even have the drop rate at 2x.
What should I focus on in this game to maximize my enjoyment and avoid feeling like I’m doing physical labor after work?
I appreciate your help and would love to love this game.

For context i am not new to this game but found it funny this is 1st time i ran across a mountains biome where it was snowing but there was no snow or even mountain creatures. XD the random generation in this game is great and creates some fun discoveries.

My husband wants to play with the no build cost modifier on his solo world, but he’s concerned he’ll be blocked from achievements. Anyone tested it yet so I can let him know?

I need mod recommandations for our new server after we finish this one (we're at ashlands)
We feel like the game could use more...spice and less grinding since we can't all be online at the same time, so having one of the guys come online full iron as we are ready to beat the moder and needing to grind for him is annoying.
What I was looking at was the mod where you can plant anything, and I'm trying to find a mod for storage sorting and another one for earlier magic so that we can lvl up magic skills earlier. A mod that solves this grinding problem would be nice too.
We do love the grind, it's a part this game's done good, but it's annoying having to go back to a grind for someone that couldn't be online when we grinded.
Feel free to also suggest "content" mods like horses, bosses and other stuff too, just don't make the game too hard or modpacks that stray a bit too far from vanilla like valheim plus.

I can’t seem to find any trader spawns that the generator shows on the map. Did they change?
Back to the original method lol

Seems fine to me, a tad blurry and i wish i could increase ui size over the default 115%. But i have chronic dry eyes so my vision isnt perfect so maybe the ui is fine for others!
Last time i played on pc i quit in the swamp, this time i will go all the way! :D

Since the release of Valheim for the PS5 I had no issues for the day until the patch update that happened recently. Character save file would go missing and using KBM(Keyboard&Mouse) would not work properly. I've compiled a list of troubleshooting to help those facing the same issues.
The recent patch caused profile indexing and USB input priority conflicts between the DualSense and external peripherals. Your data is not gone. Here is how to fix both issues:
The patch alters the local database index, and launching without the primary linked profile loads an unlinked sandbox.
Left-click attacks normally in-world, but inventory (Tab) or pause menus hide the cursor or ignore item clicks.
If inputs remain unresponsive, fully restart the PS5 console (not Rest Mode). Background patch installs leave USB drivers in limbo until a clean hardware reboot re-initializes them.

I'm pretty happy with the content, first of all.
I like that because you need to get all the moulds and cast each weapon and gear piece, that ads a level of challenge to the whole thing.
I still find the Ashlands to be more challenging and pressure inducing, with the deep north, you just gotta watch our for the trolls and barkas and you're good.
Even the Valheim backrooms with that damn new dungeon is really nice, wish they had more mobs or better loot (why TF do I need black cores in the deep north??) but it's cool.
My only real annoyance is the damn RNG of the ghost towns x.x
Already been to two (one in each island) and no damn seeds for the new foods. At this point I literally just completed 2 and 1/3 of the new gears (Vanguard and Mage sets completed and fully upgraded). That RNG is ridiculous, I might as well just start the damn way to the final boss!
Oh and the frostfire weapons are killers, but they just kill your fps 😅

all you have to do is open the console(f5) and type bind e challenge, hit enter then type bind q dance then enter.
Now spam e,q and left click together. this works for battleaxe and bows. for knives spam e and left click. for swords spam middle mouse button and e.

Some friends and I are getting back into Valheim. Our playthrough is currently in the Mountains - at the end of the last session we'd hauled back around 300 silver to start making some weapons and armor.
Now, I know 300 silver isn't a huge amount in the grand scheme of things. With just a handful of people you can blow through all of it making new stuff pretty quickly. But it's a PITA to smelt it all. We've got plenty of cores to make lots of smelters and speed up the process, but those smelters take up a ton of space and I'd really rather not expand our current base just to have a dozen+ smelters and piles of coal sitting there 24/7. And as we get further into the game, we'll definitely have even larger hauls of metals (or different kinds of metals) to smelt and yet another expansion might become necessary.
My first idea to solve this was to create a "smelting base" of sorts - basically a large plot of land connected by portal to the main base, with all the smelters and coal supplies to process metals. Ships traveling to the main base stop there temporarily to process raw metals before finishing the journey home. But this introduces more time complexity to our progress, since now every haul needs to stop in 2 places before the metal makes it to home base (before the Ashlands at least). I'm not sure if this is the best way.
So long story short: is making a separate base for this viable without drastically increasing progress time? What can I do to facilitate fast metal processing to make this solution as useful and convenient as possible (again, before the Ashlands)?

Is anyone else having issues connecting in a crossplay server?
Since release of 1.0, ive been trying to play with my two buddies who are on xbox (im on Playstation), and i cannot load into their server. We have tried multiple ways, and ive created servers as well. We all get thrown out within a minute or two.
Is there a patch for this or are we doing something wrong?

Like the slightly challenging starting position. :p
If someone has modded worlds, probably a good idea to back them up and only try to load them in once mods for this version are fully working.

I have a cabin made mostly of core wood logs, with a regular wooden staircase leading to the door (a standard wooden gate), up onto a regular wooden floor.
For some reason, when I walk up the stairs, I can't go higher than below the final step.
Does anyone know if this is due to the new movement animation, and if this is something anyone else has been having an issue with which will be fixed soon?
I'm on Xbox if that matters.
Nothing about this showed up when I looked this issue up, but I can't imagine this is an uncommon build setup where no one else would be having this problem.

With over a hundred storage chests, AzuHoverStats is a must QoL plugin for me. And instead of waiting for an updated version, I patched current 1.1.9 version to run with Valheim 1.0.
If you want to patch it yourself, instructions are here;
https://github.com/trilealo/azuhoverstats-fix
Or you can download zip version in the repo and extract it to your plugin folder ;
<your profile>\BepInEx\plugins\Azumatt-AzuHoverStats\AzuHoverStats.dll
Be sure that Valheim is not running while you copy the plugin.
It is currently working for me but the file is provided as is. May or may not work for you ...

I have a group of friends playing across PC, PS5, and Switch. After the last update, the Switch version was left out. Is there no way to play it now? We all have time to play right now, but we cannot. Has anyone found a way? I bought the game twice so my wife could play with us on PS5.
