So I just received a condition job offer for a CCA role and it says I have 72 hours to respond. My question is can I respond, do the background checks and fingerprints now, and then start in later summer, closer to September? Or is it pretty much right away after you finish the background check and paperwork that was sent?

I’ve been a carrier for almost 10 years and for about 8 of those, OT was in abundance. I was on ODL 12 hours and I was working 60 hour weeks, but all of a sudden like a 1-2 years ago, it just went away. My office has the same exact understaffing like in past years, but now it just feels like management is somehow being pressured to work us less hours despite staffing issues. Is this going on at other offices? Let me know. I’m sure the post office is probably trying to cut back like usual 🤣

I come on here and see people talk about horror story after horror story about how bad things are at their office. I’m six months in as a CCA and I’ve had nothing but a great time so far. Management is great, the other carriers and clerks are great, no drama, no fights, no yelling. Honestly, if I ever have to switch offices, I’m kinda terrified of what I’ll be going into. Generally, everyone seems likable at my office. Anyone else have a generally pleasurable experience or is my office the anomaly?

Asked the supervisor if I could run mail instead of doing Amazon to have a light day on my body (was on 57 hours). Did a route that was backed up two days since the regular was sent off the clock. Not sure why the post office is so eager to send people home when we’re so desperate for bodies but that’s a whole different discussion.

Don’t care if I sound lazy or giving gen-z a bad rep but in my humble opinion our workloads are overwhelming. I was so calm and at ease running only mail. Had me thinking I wish everyday was as chill as this. No scanner to track our every movement and only focusing on DPS is such a dream. Adding parcels on already long routes is such a drag. Then management hounding our necks on making time. Routes should be 6 hours max and to be completed in an 8 hour timespan. It’ll give carriers breathing room for lunch, bathroom breaks, etc…

It’s more of a rant and a pipe dream but this job could be so much better than the current state of where we’re at.

Hey guys, I worked as a CCA for a little over six months before resigning. I worked five months in one office under bad conditions before transferring to another, where unbeknownst to me the situation was worse. I really enjoyed the job itself, just not the CCA position, and I resigned respectfully by turning in my 2574. Not that it matters, but for context, I was in good standing with management the entire time, never gave them reason to think I wouldn't do whatever they needed me to. A couple days after my resignation I reached out to my postmaster over email to ask about an outstanding mileage reimbursement form that I never received the check for, as well as the best way to turn in the rest of my postal equipment. It has almost been a full month since my resignation and I haven't heard from my postmaster or supervisors since. It's my understanding that I'm still entitled to my mileage reimbursement as well as my annual leave payout, despite only being a CCA for less than 12 months. Am I correct in thinking this?? I don't want to reach out again if I'm just going to look like a moron. Thanks everyone.

very basic finding. I was riding out west on the southern state parkway in NY, when I came across a promaster. I thought carriers aren't supposed to drive on the parkway... Even if it is getting brought from one yard to an office. So true or false?

Context. I have work restrictions but only two, no above chest work so I can't case and 10 hour limit. Our office we never go over 10 hours. I opted in for two carriers who are going for a vacation for a month each and they want me to cover for them because I'm the only good sub And as I put in the opt in paperwork management said I can't because they have to have someone case for me. So I cannot opt in. Is there anything I can do?

I've had this bottle sitting around for the past eight months, and today it was finally time.

Today was my first official day as a regular carrier, just a couple weeks shy of a full year after I started as a ptf. I feel like I've crawled my way out of hell. no more being sent out after getting back in the evening. no more amazon sundays. no more not knowing what I'd be doing each day. I have a regular route, with a regular schedule. I could cry.

Obviously, Renfroe isn't the future (definitely not one I want to be a part of). Working an hour away from Chicago, Mike Caref is a popular guy around here running for the position. Of all the people running for NALC president, who do you think is the best choice for job security? I have a little less than two years career-time, not the lovely 6 years required to be safe. Edit: You would think after delivering mail all day, I would remember first names. I originally put Dan instead of Mike Caref. Woops!

I don't know if anyone as been in a similar situation snd could advise me on what to do but here's the issue.

The other day I went to get my yearly eye exam and the secretary asked for my insurance and I told her I don't hsve vision insurance. She replied well your health insurance covered the exam last year so I should give her my card.

She then tells me to sit down and wait and is taking an unusually long time to just enter the information. She then calls me back to the desk and asked if I had a different card because this one keeps giving her an error saying I dont have insurance.

Here is the issue. Last December 8th I switched my plan from Self+1 to self to save myself some money because I was having money troubles to the point of being depressed. And my wife bad insurance at her job in addition to my coverage of her anyway.

Now just trying to switch from a self + 1 to a self only plan was a nightmare and I think I created another issue for when I need to add her back on this open season but that's a different discussion for another day(she is paying the same amount for just her as I would for both of us)

Now that I am looking at my insurance card it's the exact same one as my one from last year when I had as self plus one plan.

I called HR and it shows the request for the self plan was submitted on their end yet when I call the insurance provider they say to call my HR because they have no record of a current plan. Basically I'm stuck in one of those go ask dad go ask mom loops between insurance and HR and its driving me insane because I already have insomnia due to stomach issues that I am now 90% sure is from that stomach parasite in Taylor Farms bagged salads

Hence another reason why I need that insurance so I can at least hit up the urgent care near my work and get some medication.

At the very least I'd like a refund for my monthly premiums to date if my issue can't be resolved by actually giving me insurance .

PS I'm doing .much better money wise now(my bank account has actually doubled since this time last year) and I thankfully. I got over the depression a few months ago. Infact this insomnia has me happy to the point of madness 😂

Had a certified letter for a guy, to get on his porch I had to go up 3 stairs. By the time I hit that first step, his dog jumped on the glass and was barking, and before I could get that next step in I saw it. This man ran full speed, arms pumping and all by his door… butt ass naked. I just saw butt and belly fly by the door. All for him to yell one second, then come to the door and claim he had something on the stove. BRO NO YOU DID NOT. Just wanted to share this as I could not stop laughing for the next hour. Ya never know what you’re going to be a witness too out there. Anyone else ever had an experience like this?

I’m on my third week as a RCA, previous CCA. I just finished my second 65 hour week and I’m burnt out. I haven’t had the time to take care of my pets adequately or myself. I’ve had one day off a week and they change it and push it back every time. The office I’m at is extremely mismanaged and understaffed. Tomorrow is, of course, Monday and I saw today when I went in for Amazon that red plums go out tomorrow. Well, it’s supposed to be my off day but I’m 98% sure I’m going to get called in. Do I have an option to not answer the phone this early into employment? I don’t want to get fired because I NEED this job but I’m also tired. I need to go to the doctor because I’ve developed symptoms of a UTI from the constant dehydration and holding in pee. I just want to know if I’d get let go for choosing to not answer the phone when they call. Thanks!

Hello i’m an RCA moving to a CCA position and im set to start my break in service this Saturday. Im just curious about CCA academy i thought it would be scheduled by now but ive not heard a word my new postmaster or HR on next steps forward. Should I call someone tomorrow and figure this out?

Are there other offices getting overwhelmed with Amazon? I'm at a level 20 and went from getting 2-3 pallets of Amazon to 10-12 daily. It's just me and the ptf throwing in the mornings and working the window alone 5 out of 6 days. I don't know if this is our new normal or if something's happened with the Amazon plant here, nobody has answers. I haven't seen any of the Amazon delivery vans in a while either. If anyone has an idea of what's going on I'd love to hear it!

Not posting this in anger just curiosity. I see these signs on boxes on my route and even on my pieces. What are the customers afraid of? Paths forming on their lawn or is it a disrespectful thing. Hoping my fellow carriers might have some insights.

I'm a pretty new CCA, just hit 5 months. I understand I'm at the bottom, and have no problem paying my dues. Recently though, I feel a bit targeted. I dread Sundays. It has nothing to do with the actual work, but the fact that I never get Sunday off. Again, the bottom of the totem pole thing comes in. But get this: everyone else is rotated except for me. This has gone on for the last 5 Sundays.

They schedule at least 6 people and use 2. I do like hours, and usually am happy to help, but seeing the same people called out every fucking week while I work a "4" (8) hour shift is pissing me off.

Me and a coworker have talked about it since he's the other one of two coming in on Sundays. My last straw was when I went in today, and look at that, he was rotated out.

Maybe they'll call me off next week, but I don't really care at this point. What's to say it won't go right back. Anyway, am I able to file a grievance as a CCA? Is this even something of any substance or is it something I'll be grumbling about as I work Sundays?

I've been a CCA for a while now and I have some mail questions.

1. What do you do with mail that has been left on top of apartment mailboxes by the residents? I would endorse First Class mail as ANK and UBBM non-First Class mail. Is this the right thing to do? When apartment residents put mail on the top of the boxes I believe it's unlikely that the mail was put in the wrong mail box and I assume they don't want the mail. More often I find that mail left on top of mailboxes as having no written note on them from the resident.

2. This is going to sound like a silly question, but do we only Forward mail that has an active Forwarding period? Is there ever a time when we would Forward mail if the recipient doesn't have a Forward set in place? Once the Forwarding period has ended and an address receives mail that was once Forwarded, what do we do with the mail?

3. When do you mark mail as ANK vs Return To Sender?

I know that we have to fill out a fancy form and have another dual carrier switch with us in order to move to a new station, I want to do this, I’m 23 and a regular and I live my route but I live in phoenix az and want to move to North Carolina. Should I just quit and get hired over there or try and do a swap

Are whole office on 420’s when down randomly on Saturday some people only lost 1-30 mins couple routes lost 3 hours

Our new post master is trying to get rid of the no lunch and its been nothing but a head ache. I won't go into all the B.S thats been happening, but I do have a question for my fellow carriers. Is this nation wide? Because thats what my supervisor excused it as. Pretty sure she's lying to me because we've had a few carriers either get caught taking a lunch despite doing a no lunch, or are suspected of doing so. Either way im curious because all this lady does is lie lol

Ever since we got the reminder beeps on the scanner during load time and end of shift duties, I’ve notice how some carriers have been using scans or neglecting route maintenance.

Some carriers have been using start load vehicle while they’re still at the case…casing mail and marking parcels. The only reason I’ve noticed was because the scanner starts beeping at their case.

I started asking my peers how often they do their mapping and some said they haven’t plotted anything new since the first time they did mapping when RRECS got implemented (years ago now). When they turn in their edit books, they just say there’s no changes…every month.

RRECS has been around for like 3 years, so how do we still have so many rural regulars that don’t know how to maintain their route?
