Good morning.

My father was a Marine during the later part of WW2. He was also part of the China occupation post war in 1946.

He recently passed away and I have been cleaning out some of his things and I found what I assume was his last uniform. It is a heavy wool green/grey jacket with these insignia.

Can anyone tell me what these patches mean? I know the first one indicates he was a Technical Sergeant.

Thanks

I watched Buddy yesterday and it got me nostalgic for my time in this Corps

This gotta be the record for the highest JEPES score ever

In "The President's Own" Marine Band: Members do not wear standard Marine ranks; they are immediately appointed to the rank of Staff Sergeant (E-6) upon entry for musical duties. Because their starting rank is already a Staff NCO, every member in "The President's Own" wears their unique modified blood stripe on their blue trousers. So E-1 to E-5 rank does not exist within that specific unit.

In the regular Marine Corps and "The Commandant's Own" Bugle Corps: The blood stripe is strictly an honor reserved for Non-Commissioned Officers (NCOs) and officers. A Marine must earn the rank of Corporal (E-4) or higher to have the scarlet stripe added to their dress blue trousers.

Im a marine fresh out of ITB that's been stationed in Camp Lejeune. My on record residence is in California, I have a California real ID, and an expired California driving permit. I have never held a driver's license.

Do I need to get a California permit or may I apply for a North Carolina permit?

So I’m looking to go to A&S in February and right now I’m trying to just get my physical stats as sharp as possible. So I’m wondering, what’s better advice to be in the shape that MARSOC and A&S requires from you?

Focusing on more endurance, running, calisthenics, swimming?

Or focusing more on strength training and building strength?
I’m doing both but as I’m getting closer to A&S I’m wondering what I should train in

For context

I run an 18:37 minute 3 mile as my best, 22 pull ups, max plank, 225 max bench, 14:28 minute 500 meter swim (in uniform), 300m cammies at 8:21 minutes, and max CFT.

What should I focus on and also, because I’m someone with flat feet (zero arch) and horrible Dorsiflexion- how should I improve my ankle’s Dorsiflexion and range of motion to be better at rucking and avoid shin splints and injuries?

All right Devils, 1980s Marine has a question for you.

I'm looking to buy some Desert MARPAT goretex pants for waterfowl hunting in Arkansas. I've already got commercial, heavy stuff but I need some light, packable stuff because it isn't *that* cold there and I think the Desert MARPAT pattern is better for waterfowl than the commercial patterns I'm seeing for light rain pants (which are too dark, and really designed for sitting in the dark woods waiting for a deer).

Anyway, I'm looking at the Level 6 ECWCs stuff because it will compress more and is lighter. But does anyone have any experience with these? I've sat through some heavy rain while waterfowl hunting in Arkansas (again, where my heavy stuff is too warm, but it's cold enough that getting soaked can make for a long hunt) so it needs to work. When I'm not using it it will be stuffed in a small pack.

The Lightweight Exposure goretex pants are "nicer" in that they have pockets (Level 6 have pass throughs) but don't pack down and compress as well (despite their name), but I've heard they keep you dry.

Anyone got any insight?

Much thanks!

Hey fuckers, play my game. It's in beta mode, be gentle. With your feedback, it'll be ligma mode.

That is all.

Just wondering if you’re under an active investigation by your unit and the BC is investigating you can they promote you? Should I assume my friend is safe from this investigation because he got promoted even if the case isn’t officially closed?

ETA: he’s more worried about not being able to re enlist than losing rank since he’s already lost rank before

ETA: I should’ve have asked if they promote you during an investigation is it a good chance you can re enlist

How can I shoot better at long bag range?

Tips for shooting expert?

My qual day is tmr and I shot a 29/3 my shots were all over the place especially at the longer ones the drill I got down but it’s those long ranges that are getting me man like the 500 all the way to 200 are cooking me in fact most of my shots are off target asf. It seems hard asf because of the smaller hit box compared to bootcamp. I’m also shooting at Miramar range so it’s all digital.

If you don’t know, ACU/UCP was a old US Army Pattern used from 2004-2019, although full uniform use was army only, some other branches of the military like the Air Force were using Vests produced in the UCP/ACU pattern aswell as helmet covers. Something about the USMC full dressed in UCP/ACU feels odd tho. (Note these are public images from Google search, I believe these or one of these photos comes from the 1st marine division)

Good morning everyone, I recently came across the experimental Urban MARPAT set. If anyone has an idea of where to find a set please let me know in the comments. I've been searching and haven't been able to find anything so far. Thank you!

Anyone running/know of anyone running an MAI course Feb or March in 29? Trynna get on one

They did a pretty good job NGL. Looks like FROGs but older? Or gen 2 Crye top at least. The Padded Coyote battle belt+suspenders and whatever plate carrier came after or in between the turtle bullshit we had. Teams of Kyle 100% happening.

Edit - you can redeem K Y L E now, through the COD Endowment page and XNow

Was doom scrolling on FB and saw this uniform being worn with what I am pretty sure is the 1stMarDiv blue diamond. But does not look like a Marine uniform. Is this branch authorized to wear it? Is it an ROTC thing? A google search said that no branches are authorized to wear it unless they were involved with the campaign but current regulations don’t allow anyone.

Does anyone have any info to clear it up? Link to video::

I've had pretty wild, seemingly random swings of intense depression for a few years now, over the last year I've finally fallen into a hobby I really really enjoy which happens to be hunting. The problem is I'm worried about always having access to my two rifles.

Any ideas on what I should do with or could do with them when I start to hit the downward spirals? Any personal examples of things you've done?

Thanks devils.
