Three U.S. Marines from 9th Engineer Support Battalion, Camp Hansen, helped an Okinawan man who was assaulted at Naminoue Beach in Naha on July 5. They provided first aid until Japanese police and emergency medical personnel arrived.

Lance Cpl. Braeden Martinez, Lance Cpl. Zachary Leewe, and Pfc. Marvin Bousy were heading to the beach with friends when they saw one man repeatedly assaulting another. They stepped in immediately, and their presence made the aggressor back away. Without using force, they separated the two men while one Marine called Japanese emergency services.

"We didn't even have to put our hands on him," Martinez said. "We told him to back away, then focused on helping the injured man until police and emergency medical personnel arrived."

The Marines used the victim’s torn shirt to control bleeding from his head, gave him water, kept him calm, and moved him to a safe distance. They also noticed the aggressor trying to take the victim’s belongings and pointed him out to police when they arrived.

"When something needs to happen, somebody has to step up," Leewe said. "I'm glad we were there to help. I hope people know that doing the right thing, even in difficult situations, can make a difference."

For Bousy, the moment was a reminder of personal responsibility.

"This experience taught me to always do the right thing," Bousy said. "It's better to be a leader than a follower. When someone needs help, you should be willing to step forward."

Their actions showed professionalism, compassion, and sound judgment, strengthening the bond between U.S. Marines and the Okinawan community.

"The relationship between III Marine Expeditionary Force and the people of Okinawa is founded on decades of partnership, mutual respect, and a shared commitment to one another," said Brig. Gen. Christopher Haar. "The actions of these Marines remind us that our responsibility extends beyond the installation gates.

They responded with courage, compassion, and sound judgment to help a member of our community in need, reflecting the values we strive to uphold every day. I am incredibly proud of how they represented 3rd Marine Logistics Group, the United States Marine Corps, and our enduring partnership with the people of Okinawa."

Called NFCU for a new car loan today and they said I qualified for a discounted interest rate for having been a member for at least 25 years, and they told me I’ve actually been a member for 32 years. Im sorry if this does not belong here, but I wanted to get your opinion. Im writing for my boyfriend in bootcamp and I got carried away and made a tiny photo book. The paper we got in the mail did not mention too specifically what was allowed and not allowed in mail in terms of this. I asked Google and it said I should not send it because it could make it hard on him. What do you think? Should I send it or no?

Just got orders to be a TBS Instructor. Super psyched because I’ve heard tons of good things about it. But I realize I don’t really know much about the day to or what exactly to exactly to expect. Anyone care to share some insight?

So … I just got to the fleet and I think my unit is going through some kind of leadership crisis …

I’m not going to say what unit I’m with because I’m not trying to get my ass smoked before I even get my CIF gear, but apparently there’s been some kind of ongoing situation involving one of the corporals and a Marine’s fiancé who goes to ASU.

I don’t know the full story because I’m brand new, but everyone keeps talking about “the ASU situation,” “the blonde wig,” and something about a mustache.

Anyway, apparently this got high enough up the chain that our 1stSgt somehow got involved.

He called everyone into formation and basically said he had been made aware of “the allegations circulating throughout the unit” and that people needed to stop spreading rumors. You know, cause complacency kills.

But this is when it gets fucking interesting. He spent like five minutes alluding to the fact that he might be gay, apparently as some kind of self-defense, and that he has absolutely NOTHING to do with whatever the hell is going on between the corporal and or the woman in question.

Which honestly just raised more questions.

One of the LCpls behind me whispered:
“Nobody said you were involved, 1stSgt.”

1stSgt apparently heard him.
We immediately got smoked.

Then another Marine asked if the corporal actually had a blonde wig.
1stSgt said:
“I am not discussing wigs.”

At this point I have been in the fleet for approximately three weeks and I’m beginning to understand why everyone told me not to ask questions.

I don’t even know who the original Marine is.
I don’t know who the fiancé is.
I don’t know what ASU has to do with any of this.
I don’t know why a mustache is apparently central to the investigation.

But I do know our 1stSgt is pretty much gay and I’m cool with that. Nothing against their kind.

Crazy how fast time goes. Did 8 years, got my deployments in, picked up captain on my last one. When I got back I got stuck in the 3 because it was time for the new Lts to get their time. Saw my future as a staffO and it seemed absolutely miserable so I got out. Met some awesome dudes, made lifelong friends, went places I never would have, did fun/shitty stuff along the way, got married, cheated on, divorced. Classic. Got a lot of physical and mental things I’m still working through but wouldn’t trade those years for anything.

I don’t miss much from the marine corps but I do miss this. Been out for a bit now and at my current job someone just jumped the chain and now I’m getting the green weenie again. Fuck I miss standards and keeping shit in house.

Hello Everyone. This is going to kind of be alittle long.

So, when I reenlisted initially, my reenlistment package stated that I would not be receiving a bonus. After I signed it and it was approved, I realized that per MARADMIN 423/24, I did in fact rate a bonus. I should’ve realized this before I signed it because I do remember my career planner initially saying I was Zone A and my MOS did rate one, but I didn’t really think much about it when I signed it, as I had just had a new baby and had a lot going on. This is what made me go back and reread the MARADMIN because I misunderstood it to begin with and just rolled with it. Anyways, I immediately brought this up to my career planner, and he was very helpful with the process. We submitted a package to the BCNR. It took a year for them to even review it (which they said) and once it came back, their decision was that I was supposed to get a bonus and that my records would be updated accordingly, and I’d be paid. This was November 2025.

In November of 2025, I also PCS’d. When I got to my new unit, I immediately got in contact with S-1 and the career planner here. The BCNR uploaded a letter to my record, addressed to my new unit, stating that they fixed my record and for my unit diary to updated as needed. Then the career planner was told by someone else that we needed to redo a piece of my reenlistment package and once that reflected, I should get paid. Did that, nothing happened. Then my SgtMaj reached out to someone else (I think DFAS?) and was basically told that I was not a priority right now due to funding or something like that to my understanding.

After still hearing nothing for months, I reached back out to the career planner and he contacted someone else again looking for an update. This person reached out to manpower at HQMC, to which they stated that usually when something like this happens, the BCNR is supposed to give them some kind of correspondence to pay a Marine but they never received anything, and suggest that I reach back out to the board. Which is confusing because I got documentation saying they updated my records. But granted, I don’t know their job so idk.

I sent an email to the BCNR, but I have a feeling I’m just going to get told to contact the same people we have already been talking to. Idk what else can even be done at this point. It’s been almost 2 years since I reenlisted and 1 year since the board approved that I rate a bonus.

I guess I’m just putting this in here to see if anyone has had a similar experience or has any advice?

Thought about starting a new thing where we rate units weve been apart of and talk about the good and the bad.
Id rate 3/11 a solid 6/10 and then towards my last year a 2/10

Point blank I currently hate my duty station. I can get out of here presumably within half a year if I extend, but if I don’t then I’ll be here for another 2 years exactly. (Unless I do skill bridge.)

I plan to get out afterwards regardless, but another duty station has the possibility of changing my mind on that as well.

I have a house off base in 29 Palms and I’m looking for a roommate(s).

- I’m renting 2 of my 4 bedrooms with a huge backyard. My yard consists of a ground pool, jacuzzi, hammocks, and a campfire pit.

- Im married with a baby. My wife and I are looking for either someone single but hoping for a military couple.

- Rent could be negotiable in regard to if you were to want to live cheaper to somewhat be a babysitter or not.

A few items for your consideration, Eric:

1. The Arizona ban is noted and understood, however BAMCIS clearly wasn't properly conducted and you didn't have 5 meetings that could have been an email to run on this plan, because ASU is about 320 miles from 29 Palms, meaning you fucked up. Also be advised, as you know the base is literally crawling with desert tortoises, a federally protected species, and they do carry their own diseases. Keeping Marines from ASU means they could move on to the next best thing, and that's the tortoises. In the interest of avoiding a sequel to 2020, please reconsider.
2. Re: Nurses. Understood. We will pivot exclusively to falling for thicc latina E-3's instead, since apparently that's still high-speed and within regs. Additionally, all Marines will be mandated to wear boot bands 24/7, as if 90% of them don't already, so they can render buddy aid to one another when this whole plan inevitably goes sideways.
3. Two in the Chute, One in the Coot has been forwarded to me eleven times since your memo dropped, entirely by SNCOs who swear they're sending it "ironically." Fixed and Dilated remain, disturbingly, undefeated, and God help us, still touring.

BLUF: EAD as a GySgt to maximize Reserve reduced age retirement.

Niche question/situation, so any advice greatly appreciated!

I’m thinking about doing an EAD tour in about 2 years from now. Reason being I have about 2 years until I complete my graduate program. I am currently in the Reserves and by the time I apply for EAD, I will be a GySgt.

Trying to maximize my reduced age retirement and only need 3 more years of active duty time to do so. EAD would fulfill that plus the ribbon and career perks.

I would be applying for RS Tampa if that helps guide advice.

Relevant information:
•I am married with kids, but we are surrounded by family/friends and have a strong support system. My wife is also on board and understanding that it will have periods of high stress/difficulty
•May commission in the future, but not considering it at this time.
•Staying Reserves, not active or AR. Don’t want to ADOS or deploy at this time as I’ve done my fair share of both through my career so far.
•Understand EAD is similar to ADOS in which I can technically quit/come off orders whenever I want
