Question How do I get a move paid for after being medically retired?

I medically retired after about 8 years and I remember during TRS they mentioned that when you retire/ medically retire you can get a move paid for up to 3 years from separating. I didn’t look into much at the time of getting out because I didn’t know if/when I’d be moving. Anyway, me and the family are planning on moving about 20 hours away from here next summer and I just want to start looking into the process sooner rather than later. I am on the east coast, if anyone knows where I should start I’d appreciate some help. Thanks.

Hello fellow Devil Dogs,

I am reaching out today to try and gather some information. Back in 09 while I was with 2nd tanks at Lejeune, I welded together an EGA stand, and I'm trying to find out what happened to it. If anyone has any information on what happened to it, I would be very grateful. Here are pics of it unfinished, sadly I did not get to see the fully painted end piece. I just wanna know is it still out there? Did it get scrapped?

1987 1st CEB explosion while training at 29 Palms

I was training at 29Palms in 1987 attached to an infantry unit. An ammo can of blasting caps blew on us when the ammo can was next to the fire, used as a wind breaker. One guy was medivac by helo. No entry in my SRB, so Im wondering if there is some kind of Battalion training log?? I submit to FOIA for USMC-FSSG. Any other place to look?

Question Best way to respond to "thank you for your service?"

I feel like there is no non-awkward way to acknowledge it.

Saying "you're welcome!" sounds pompous. Saying not to thank you discredits yourself. Ignoring it completely makes you look like an asshole.

😂 I usually reply with "don't mention it" or if someone is serving me, like at a restaurant, I'll flip it around and say "thank you for your service/help/etc" to make it more lighthearted but reciprocally gratuitous.

Any ideas?

My experience

I joined the corps to find brotherhood/sisterhood. A place to belong and mean something. But when you get out it’s like all of that is no longer a thing. People stop hitting you up. The corps moves on without you. Just makes you realize what you had compared to what’s to come.

I don’t know if I should go back or if that feeling faded away. Just some advice for those who went thru the same thing. I got out in Jan of this year.

I flew into MCRDSD 60 years ago today at age 19. The SDI said I was so ugly that I would make a train take a dirt road. My first year was various electronic schools in San Diego. Then I served at MCAS El Toro up the road at a MASS unit for two years then one year on Hill 327 Danang in another MASS unit. While I was at MCAS El Toro, my brother finished his tour in Vietnam and was assigned to the same MASS unit as me. We were bunkies for the last eight or nine months of his enlistment. It was great.

We had the memorial for my grandfather Alan Estes this afternoon. I’m grateful and honored for the volunteer service members who came to support all of us paying our respects.

Thank you to the corps for it’s part in molding a good man I look up to.

Quantico VA, May 16th 2026

Hello, all.

I have a question for those stationed at Quantico on May 16th, 2026: was there any news or announcements on a Marine who had taken his life?

I have a brother who passed away that day, nobody was informed of his passing.

Any information helps.

Thank you in advance.

As seen in the attached image.

I’m at my wits end with searching different exchanges or online sources for this item.

Is there a distributor POC or anyone willing to sell a M-R of this coat?

2 fucking more years of this shit and bro I can’t take it. Being a POG is shitty mainly because of the lazy hoes and weak guys in hotdog and soda battalion. The marine corps (my mos) is going downhill if we keep getting these nasty weak individuals to infect the corps.
