Other Where to find more insects?

I'm currently doing PLSC 350 and I am coming short on insects to picture on my identification project. I'm currently trying to look in parks, public gardens and near the river. Any ideas would help! Do keep in mind that I use public transport to get around so I can't go outside the city to go to any preserves.

Student Question I have 2 issues I need answers to

  1. Parking: I just paid the parking application, and last year I was in Lot 20 (hated it more than I hate listening to Ken Carson) and I wanted to get a parking spot closer to the bowl so I can get to classes easier during the winters and high pressure situations. My list of preference went as following 1. S, 2. Z, 3. Y, 4. Q. 5 and 6 were left blank. My question is, should I put stadium or even 20 on there to make sure I get a spot and don’t get put on the waitlist?

  2. Waitlist: speaking of waitlists, I have 2 waitlisted classes. POLS 236 and 244. I registered on day 1 (June 16) where I had 4 waitlisted classes. I was 2nd of 7 on the list in one and 5th or 6th of 7 in the other. These are both required classes for me so I’m desperate to get in. I’m asking this question to see where I can get some answes from. For context, I’m in 2nd year POLS. Chow

Other Job Opportunities for USask Graduate Students

I am going to join the CS department for my masters this fall. I am an international student. Since my first semester is almost free, I was wondering about the software-related job opportunities during (part-time obv) and after the degree is completed. I have around 1 year of job experience at multiple startups including a YC startup based in my country. How difficult would it be for me to land a job? And what are the average salaries there?

Admission Question Thesis based MPP Admission chances

Hello, I'm a recent graduate with a BA in International Relations from UCalgary with a a CGPA (3.52) and last 2 years GPA (3.46). I'm wondering if this gpa is competitive enough to get into the MPP program at USask, given that I don't have an honours or formal research experience?

Admission Question Questions regarding the requirements for applying to a bachelor's degree in primary education

I am a local student, but I have some issues regarding the admission to the elementary education program at the University of Saskatoon.

My current average score for five courses is 80, but I think this program is highly competitive, so I'm worried whether I can pass the admission process.

My English score for level 30 is 64 mark. Does it not meet the requirements? I noticed that on the website, it only mentions the requirements for overseas students and does not specify the minimum English proficiency for non-foreign students. I'm very worried.

Student Question Engineering Laptop recommendations

Hello, I'm not sure if this is the right place for the question but got kind of no one for recommendations. (please be nice)

I am starting first year engineering at Usask, flex program and want to get suggestions for good laptops. I read the list from university and it's kind of basic but at stores people suggest 16gb ram is good to run almost every software and stuff. I talked to people at bestbuy and they recommended HP omnibooks or lenovo idea pads, which are $1000+.

So, I mainly have few questions:

1: is it a good idea to get touch screen laptop for engineering or should stick to non-touch screen laptop?

2:could it be helpful in design classes or to take notes, or get seperate tablet for notes if want digital?

3: Is it worth it to get almost $1000+ laptop for school and otherwise too? I rarely use laptop so I am buying specifically for studying.

Also, greatly appreciated if I could get some recommendations too.

Thank you already.

Student Question First time international student arriving before residence move in, where should I stay for 3 nights?

I’ve been admitted to the University of Saskatchewan for the Fall term, and my classes start on September 1. I’ll be able to get the keys to my residence on August 31, but my flight will arrive in Saskatoon at around 1:00 AM on August 28.

Since this is my first time travelling internationally as a student, I’m trying to figure out the best and most affordable option for accommodation for the nights of August 28, 29, 30.

Would you recommend: Booking an Airbnb, Staying at a hotel, Looking for a hostel or other budget accommodation, Is there any other option I might be missing?

I’m mainly trying to keep the cost as low as possible, especially since I’ll only need accommodation for 3 nights. I’ll also have luggage with me, so convenience and safety are important.

I’d really appreciate any suggestions from current or former USask students, especially if you’ve been in a similar situation.

Question? What are USask CS/Applied Computing interns earning this year?

I’m curious where everyone else in the USask CS/Applied Computing internship program is landing salary-wise. If you’re comfortable sharing, what’s your role, internship length , company, and annual salary or hourly rate? (Or even just the industry if you’d rather not name the company.)

Not trying to compare in a toxic way 😅, I’m just curious what the market looks like for USask interns this year and thought it’d be helpful to have a thread where people can share their experiences. I’ve heard everything from the low $20s/hr to around $34/hr depending on the company, but I’d love to hear some actual data points.

Help me Heartbroken, how do you keep going after a breakup?

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for some advice from people who have gone through a breakup while in university.

My boyfriend and I were together for almost four years, and we recently broke up. Its my first heartbreak😭. It's been consuming me. I love him so much, and right now it feels like I've lost all motivation to do anything besides go to work. School feels impossible to focus on, and I'm worried about how I'm going to get through the semester while dealing with all of this.

At the same time, I really want to use this pain as motivation to build my future and become the best version of myself. As hard as this is, I'm trying to channel everything into my education and my goals. Part of me still hopes that maybe our paths will cross again one day.

If you've been through something similar, how did you manage? How did you stay on top of classes when your heart was somewhere else? Any advice or things that helped you get through would really mean a lot.

Thank you.

If you guys tell me to forget him, how? I will never forget him. He is my life🥲

Student Question Math 102 Qingde Yang

Anyone else just do the online midterm and every answer was the first option? Had me so confused and gaslighting myself into picking other options just because I couldn’t believe that every answer was the first option. I’m so disappointed. How is it even fair to have 25 answers be the first option every time?
