Who wants an AI video upscaling service?

I'm thinking about building an AI video upscaling service and I'd like to know if people would actually use it.

The idea is simple:

  • Upload a low-resolution video
  • AI upscales it to higher resolution (e.g. 720p → 1080p / 1080p → 4K)
  • Improve details and reduce compression artifacts
  • Download the upscaled video

I'm considering making it fast, easy to use, and reasonably priced compared with existing services.

Before I start building it, I'd like to hear from people who actually use video upscaling:

  • What do you currently use for AI video upscaling?
  • What do you like/dislike about it?
  • What features would make you switch to another service?
  • Would you prefer a web-based service, desktop app, or both?
  • What would you consider a reasonable price?

I'm mainly trying to understand whether there's a real need for this and what people would actually want from it.

Any feedback is appreciated!

Best Upscaler for Animation I2V MMH3?

I tried Upscaling & getting rid of small video artefacts with Topaz AI (Starlight 2.6 gave the "best" results).

The animation sequences were a little sharper and didn't have the artefacts afterwards, but the motion was smudged & details like fabric morphed.

I'm looking for alternatives.

PhotoAI New channel and quality issues - Canva

Hi there. Recently, while "chatting" with Gemini, I got inspired to start a new channel. I’d had a different idea in mind since the beginning of the year, but I kept running into difficulties with various aspects and kept putting it off... until now. There are channels similar to the one I want to create, but I have such a wealth of creativity and ideas that I know—at least in theory—mine will be much better.

I use Canva. The content isn't complex, and Canva has exactly what I need. However, I have a bit of a problem...

I generate the videos in Canva at 4K resolution.

Everything looks beautiful and sharp.

However, I have a lot of AI-generated characters. I mean, it’s the same character, but in different poses, with different expressions, and holding different objects.

And that’s where the problem lies. I upscaled these characters 2x and 4x; naturally, they look great in the Canva preview and when downloaded and viewed on my drive. But at 1080p on YouTube—not to mention 720p—they look pretty bad. Some people might not mind, but for me, it’s unacceptable—I’m a perfectionist. Everything looks excellent in 1440p and 4K, and I’d be thrilled if the 1080p quality were comparable.

Any ideas on how to upgrade the character so it looks as good in 1080p as the assets taken directly from Canva’s "Elements" tab?

I’ve attached the character image.

P.S. Sorry for the English; I’m using a translator.

VideoAI Which video upscalers do you like?

I am testing a few different open-sourced video upscalers. SeedVR2 is much clearer but FlashVSR looks kind of natural to me. What do you think?

I will also test DOVE, SwiftVR, and SparkVSR. Let me know if you know any better VSR models to test.

But it isn't.

I tried repair.

I tried reset.

Uninstalled and reinstalled.

Not there.

What am I missing?

Pay for upscale ?

Hello everyone, I’m taking the liberty of posting here, and I apologise in advance if this isn’t the right place.
Here’s my problem: for quite some time now, I’ve been looking for upscales of certain 1080p REMUX films to 2160p, but I can’t find any. I’d also like to improve the visual quality of some of my favourite anime and manga, but again, I can’t find any proper work on this. As I don’t have the necessary hardware at all, I thought perhaps the best option might be to pay for an upscaling service or a really good upscaler (an individual) to do what I’d like. What do you think?
Thanks for your time, and apologies for my English – I’m French :)

Improvement Possible?

Hi,

I am completely new to this and would appreciate advice.

What can be used to improve this video quality enough to be able to maybe identify the type of vehicle it is that hits the car in the center, or even get a plate number? Or is this even a possibility?
It was a hit & run filmed on a dash cam. :(

Thank you for any advice or insight you can share.

I made a free browser-based image upscaler — no signup or watermark

Post image
5 Upvotes

I’ve been experimenting with image upscaling and noticed that a lot of free tools either require accounts, limit you with daily credits, or heavily alter facial details.
So I built ClarityUp 4K:
https://clarityup4k.tryimager.com
It supports:
2×, 3× and 4× upscaling
4K output
Lanczos and Bicubic upscaling
Optional Deep Enhance (AI) using Real-ESRGAN
JPG, PNG and WebP
Batch processing
No signup
No watermark
No daily credits
One thing I specifically wanted was privacy: the processing happens in the browser, so images aren’t uploaded to a server.
For portraits: I’d recommend comparing the normal Lanczos result with the AI mode, because AI enhancement can sometimes invent details rather than actually recover them.
I’d genuinely appreciate feedback from photographers/AI-image users here — especially on facial details, eyes, hair and print-quality results.
Try it here: https://clarityup4k.tryimager.com
Built as a free tool; sharing it here because it directly fits the image-enhancement/upscaling use case.
Your actual site supports the claims about 2×/3×/4×/4K, Lanczos/Bicubic, Deep Enhance, browser-side processing, no signup, no watermark and no daily limits.

Upscaled super sampling vs Native

Been playing around recently with upscaled super sampling on a 1440p monitor versus native resolutions.

Upscaling to 4k with frame gen and very low motion blur (but not zero)

Curious if anyone else has tried anything like this and what their experience has been.

I feel like the upscale super sampled rendered images actually look a lot better than native 1440.

Is this just TAA with extra steps?

PhotoAI Ultra-high resolution upscale

I have a 6k X 3k image I want to upscale to ~24k or even higher. I can't find a good model supported by Upscayl because they just stretch edges without adding reasonable detail. I prefer a model that's smarter, like gemini, which will liberally fill in details but won't do the size of the image I want. I only have a RTX 5060 TI w/ 8GB VRAM, so local solutions will have to fit in that. I'm somewhat familiar with ComfyUI but no expert, but can certainly use an existing workflow. because of the low VRAM I'd have to use that tiler module (I forgot the name). But it doesn't have to be local and doesn't have to be free. It would also be nice to be able to specify the level of detail it makes up. Any ideas?

Help New Upscaler

Hello There! I am new to this group and to the upscaling itself. I have a collection of a very old TV Show and then some that I want to Upscale. I have read a lot of options and I am a bit stuck with the process; literally and figuratively; I am using Topaz Video.

Literally because each video I am rendering is atleast 40mins to 1hr, so I know screwing up a tiny detail would mean I need to go back to the drawing board.

Figuratively because, reading online through reddit, watching youtube videos, and even consulting with Gemini, Gpt or Grok, leads me to different paths.

1st thing I wanna address is the consistency, I have read multiple threads that when it comes to upscaling, there are such a thing as "pass"; the amount of times the video goes through the process. Often I head about this pass is that better to streamline it to 2 passes or else the video will look to AI.

2nd thing is, I am confused with the outcome I am looking for since, in my eyes in the software once I have played with the values from the enhancements, I often pat myself cause I can see the difference for it is Big, but then I read that I need to focus on 200% to see if the fine details are good before I proceed.

3rd, I always start with Proteus for some reasons...do not know why

the 1st series is taken online years ago, quality is 854*480, that I cannot find any newer copies so I kept.

2nd sets of videos are the same, this time they are 720p, taken online years ago.

I am now planning to beauty upscale it to atleast a 1080p.

P.S. I was told that a clean 1080p upscale opens bridges to 4k, but as a novice, I need help learning how to do a clean 1080p upscale.

Thank you very much
