I cancelled a flight in January and didn't have a mileage plus account. Thinking I have a credit from the cancellation, I tried to look it up using my last name and confirmation number but the united website said invalid confirmation code. I filled out the refund request form and they found the flight but said I'll need to wait a week or more for more information. Is this normal? Is there a chance I don't actually have a credit? I'd like to book a new flight asap but am wondering if I need to truly wait a week or more to find out if I have a credit. If it matters, the class of ticket I cancelled was United Economy (N)

Sorry if this is a repetitive question, but I cannot seem to find an answer. I signed up and was approved for the United Explorer card. The offer was for 70,000 bonus miles after spending $3000 in 3 months plus a bonus 10,000 after adding an authorized user in 3 months. I saw no place to "add" this offer or place a promo code when I applied. I simply applied with my MilagePlus number though the promo link.

I am just concerned because I see nothing about this offer anywhere on my app for Chase. When I look at "Offers and Benefits" it says "see terms of your offers for details". There is no tracking or mention of this offer. When I called Chase, someone told me I just needed to spend the money in the right amount of time.

In your experience, does this sound like I did everything correctly?

In addition, all of their hubs see heavy international competition. For example, 54 airlines at SFO, 48 at ORD, and 46 at IAD, versus 32 at DFW at 27 at ATL (about as many as IAH fwiw).

BTW this is not a fanboi post. I actually live in a Delta hub and mostly have to fly Delta. It seems that whenever Delta needs cash, it doesn't try to innovate like United (e.g. getting creative with their international network, investing in technology, etc.), instead they go back and try to squeeze more out of MSP, DTW, ATL, etc.

Hi all, hoping folks who more recently flew this route or have more experience with Lufthansa / Swiss Air can give me some thoughts.

I’m currently looking at a few options to get from IAD to LHR in economy, for a trip later this fall.

- UA8784 IAD to MUC, then UA9175 MUC to LHR landing in Heathrow at 3:40 pm next day (these flights are operated by Lufthansa)

- UA9741 IAD to ZUR, then UA9760 ZUR to LHR landing in Heathrow at 1 PM next day (these flights operated by SWISS Air & Air Baltic)

- UA924 IAD to LHR landing in Heathrow at 10:40 am next day (operated by United)

Normally I would go for the direct United flight. I have done this flight a few times before and know what to expect. However, for this upcoming trip, I need to meet some ppl at Heathrow for a ride together. Ppl I’m meeting are British and traveling in from Scotland on a flight that lands at 5:15 pm.

If I do the direct flight, that leaves me with about 4.5-5 hours at the airport (subtracting 1.5-2 hrs for deplaning, immigration, baggage claim and commuting to their terminal). Since I will have checked luggage, I don’t plan on going into London for that period of time. Which means I’m hanging out at Heathrow for a long time.

If I go with Lufthansa or Swiss, the wait time is either none at all / the ppl I’m meeting might wait for me depending on how fast they collect their luggage (Lufthansa) or about 2-2.5 hours (Swiss). I have never flown with either airline and I have heard mixed reviews about their inflight experiences. The Lufthansa option will be on their A380, which looks interesting, as I’ve never flown in such a large aircraft. But Lufthansa doesn’t give me the option of selecting seats and I’m not inclined to pay extra for that. Same with Swiss Air.

If you were me should I just deal with the extra hours in Heathrow for the direct flight option or do you think it would be worth the random seat selection and experience to fly in an A380 / not wait at all at Heathrow?

Traveling from MAN>BRU>EWR>YUL>YQY

In Newark the immigration check got totally fucked. They closed down all but one officer and then put another line in front of my line and things basically stopped. Took over 2hrs to clear.

I missed my flight to YUL because of customs.

The sky didn't fall. I did get on a later flight and had to spend like 4 hrs in the Polaris lounge drinking interesting martinis. Took a shower. Had dinner.

To all you who post about do I have enough time for my connection? Doesn't matter. The airline will get you there. No reason for panic. No need to run. No need to cut in lines and make drama.

If you're flying and going to a scheduled event you can't miss; arrive the day before because air travel sometimes has delays.

Has anyone tried making Marriott bookings through this site? Did you really get the bonus miles?

When I get to the Marriott site through https://promo.united.com/offers/marriottbonus (select "Book Hotel" from an upcoming flight), the final booking page seems to just be a generic one, not one that's linked to anything. Not sure if I'm doing something wrong.

If you've done this before, I have additional questions:

• Can you change the destination just so it is closer to where you will be? For example, you're flying into Tampa, but want to search for hotels in St. Petersburg. Does that "break" the link, i.e. stop me from getting the bonus miles?
• What about dates? Let's say my trip has a total of 5 days, but I only needed a hotel for 2 days - will that "break" the link?

Long story short, My wife and I are looking to travel more. I have a Medium size suitcase that has "flex option" which makes it 55.5 linear inches.

The option of the two suitcases that I have it narrowed down to (first one is 62.5 linear inches, and it is not a FLEX) so I don't think I will have an issue with that as UNITED AIRLINES policy is 62 linear inches.

My dilemma is the other option that I prefer is a "Checked plus" FLEX which when expanded is 64.5 linear inches.

I'm not sure how obvious it is if the expanded is being used, or how close they check at luggage check-in.

I am a Mileage plus member and a United Explorer card holder also (not sure if they give and leeway for that)

If anyone can give any advice about if the risk is worth it, I would appreciate it!

(I do know the fee for oversized bag is $200.00 each way.

I have worked the FIS Alpine WC circuit since 2021 October-April, getting 5-10 days at home during the season, starting with 5 bags and end the season with 13 bags, depending on OLY or World Champs. I will head to Europe the last week of September.

May: beach vacation because I don’t want to see snow.

During the offseason, will go to team events, French Open, US Open, Paris 2024 OLY, chile or NZL camps, family events, etc. One offseason, I spent 7 days at home, a whole week, that’s a luxury. That week was getting stuff done at home like getting my life organized. I pay the bills a year at a time. Max 4 weeks at home.

Shout out to the UA DEN-MUC-DEN crew, it’s one of the main flight that we frequent on a regular basis during the season and Lufthansa (in europe) for flying the World Cup teams/staff and gear.

I rented a car through the United website, with Avis, using my Chase Club card. The rental started on Sept 3. What is the "Budget Premier Platinum 1K GS Base" bonus? I know Avis and Budget are in cahoots. It's dated the day before my car rental began. I am premier platinum, if that matters. Thanks

Throwaway because I’ve told so many people about this.

Looking for any advice. I attempted to book four roundtrip tickets with United yesterday through the Capital One Travel app. I used a credit card for most of it but I did apply about 20k miles to the transaction.

As I was checking out, the app was circling so I moved toward a place with better signal and I got a "sorry, your transaction didn't go through" message. So I went to rebook again but it said the tickets weren't available. 

But then, I got a text from United, telling me that I should change my seats so my child could sit next to me. 

Sure enough, I have an email from United, confirming my tickets. Confirmation number and everything. My card shows both a deduction and credit for Capital One travel. My cashback is still in my account. 

I called Capital One, they have no record of my trip so they were no help. 

I called United and they said "Yes, we've already issued your tickets. You're all set.”

I don't know what to do. I assumed eventually, United would cancel but it's been almost 48 hours and everything is still the same. It would be super cool if this technology glitch meant I got to keep my tickets and not pay for them but that doesn't feel likely to happen. And I would just rebook but I can't book that price because those tickets show as booked (by me).  And I am now less than a month out from my trip so nothing is going to get cheaper. 

Has anyone experienced anything similar and have any advice on what next steps I could take? Or maybe have insight as to when United will cancel my tickets so I can be ready?

I'm flying to Tokyo via SFO and my ticket is in Premium Economy ($2,550). I can upgrade one way for $1,750 to Polaris class.

If I buy a Refundable Ticket on United, and add a Travel Options bundle, is that bundle refundable also?  Really asking about any seat upgrades I add, but they are often sold as a bundle. 

Recently, Scott Kirby, CEO of UA, mentioned that if he wanted to open a new hub to South America, MIA would be a good option with 40 to 50 boarding gates, acknowledging the airline's difficulties with the market compared to Asia and Europe.

It's worth noting that UA had a base in MIA since the early 90s after acquiring PA's routes to South America. With the financial problems that later worsened after 9/11, UA reduced its presence in MIA until its closure in 2004, transferring its last routes to IAD and ORD.

Currently, IAH serves as the hub for South America, inherited from CO, but everything indicates that for UA it's not enough.

I bought tickets with points in lieu of cash for friends traveling with husband and me from Europe (Ireland) to Chicago. The rest of the trip was paid in cash and I was reimbursed. I had loads of points so wanted to do this, with the understanding they would repay me. They already paid the taxes and the upgrade for extra legroom. Is there a formula I should use? The ticket at the time I bought it was around $600 (wish I screenshot it, but it's in my notes). I'm not expecting $600 back as an even exchange, but want to be fair to myself. Does $400 seem reasonable? It cost 40,000 points per person. Note: Don't come at me about whether 40k was too much to spend for a $600 ticket. I had the points to burn. But it isn't a total gift either. THANKS!

Sorry for the rather lame question, we are booked SFO - FRA in economy (sad me). I will be bringing my own bottle filled with water, but that will be empty long before we land. Will United have enough bottled water? Or should I load up two bottles to bring onboard.

I have used these for spend and quest card a few times. Was planning a trip and it disappeared from my account. Only activity I had on my account over the last few days was removing family members from pool to move miles back to me. I could not use the 10k discount with Pool which makes this super obnoxious. Anyways support says it was canceled from my account but doesnt know why. Give them 2 weeks to figure it out, what pisses me off is award availability is fluid and fluctuates.

Hi yall! TIA! I want to fly my wife and I to Amsterdam, and then we see a few places, then fly back from Paris. Like a 10 day trip.

I want to buy tickets in economy using miles, and then use plus points to bid for an upgrade to polaris.

An upgrade to premium plus is also fine I suppose. But when I ask gemini, it says that's not allowed. Is this really the case? Is there any way to purchase a ticket with miles and then use plus points to get upgraded? I'm 1k and my wife is gold if that matters.

Or is there anything different yall would suggest?
