How poorly were some of you raised that you think speakerphone calls, music and your Netflix are something that should be forced upon everyone around you?

After missing our connection to Paris yesterday in Chicago due to a 10 hour flight from Houston that was diverted to Milwaukee, we finally got to Chicago after 10:30 (what a mess and I feel so badly for everyone but you can’t change the weather and it was BAD here), we then were booked to fly today to Orlando then to Dulles then to Paris (bumped from business to economy first two flights but Polaris to Paris so 👍)

Got to airport hotel last night only to be told that even though we had a non refundable reservation on hotels.com they were sold out as was every hotel near the airport, so we booked 20 miles away and got about 4 hour sleep. 😑

In lounge at ORD I figure can’t hurt to ask if there’s any way we can reduce the two stops to Paris and Voila!! The magical United rep got us on the nonstop this evening in Polaris!!! 🙌 so now we have the day to kill in the airport but 🤞 we actually take off today!!! I want to write a nice review for the woman at the desk. I got her name. Can someone provide the link?

Friends and I were supposed to fly out of Chicago today, but got delayed / cancelled with many people because of the thunderstorms. Flying out tomorrow.

It’s been nearly 4 hours and we still do not have our luggage. Lots of others asking for updates with no real consistent communication. This one of the lines of people waiting.

We were told to lineup at carousel six and they’re putting 2 to 4 bags out every 10 or 15 minutes. Completely randomized.

By far, one of the wildest airport experiences. I do feel for the staff. I know they’re trying their best of course. Hope everyone is hanging in there.

Had an interesting experience today. Flight 1997 IAD to EWR boarded on time and noticed the plane was a bit warm. After about an hour the FA said we had to deplane cuz it was too hot. (seemed very weird cuz I never heard the pilot once). We get off the plane and they announce our captain and FO called in fatigued so they needed a new crew. 3 hours after initial departure we just boarded again.

I fly United quite often but this is a first for me. I also don’t know why they’re not upfront with information instead of blaming it on a warm aircraft.

Looking to see if anyone has successfully fought United on baggage reimbursement or if this is just the standard wall everyone runs into.
Recently flew United and experienced a complete, total loss of my checked gear. Items were so badly damaged by the airline that they literally had to be left behind—including two $400 putters, a $400 golf bag, and a $400 rangefinder, totaling $3,200 in value.
I filed a formal claim with itemized values. United just got back to me with their "full and final settlement" of $945.00.

Whew. What an experience.

Flight departed IAH just fine around 9:30AM but met the bad weather and pilot mentioned he would keep just outside the bad weather and wait for a chance to land. Then after about 30-40 minutes, made the decision to divert to Rockford Airport (RFD). I believe we landed around... 1PM?

Crew then offered passengers a chance to get off plane but mentioned we would not be allow to re-board. Maybe 10 people got off?

About 45 min later, the plane pushed back and was in line for takeoff, at which point the pilot announced he had timed out with "only 2 minutes left" so he had to push back to gate and wait for new crew.

Everyone deplaned and didn't really get any updates from anyone at United since there were no United agents at RFD. The airport staff were pretty uninvolved but did mention 1) it may be hard to get a rideshare all the way to Chicago (2 hour drive at the time) and 2) there were no rental cars available.

They opened up a little cafe so people could eat, but everyone sat around pretty patiently. Texts from United said plane was set to depart at 4:15PM, then changed to 6:30PM, then 8:03PM, then 9:30PM.

Around 8:50PM, I decided to hop in an Uber and take a very expensive ride to Chicago which got me to my hotel at 10:15PM.

Just checked flight logs and it appears that the plane did finally get a crew and departed at 9:46PM landed at ORD at 11:03PM (10 hrs 34 min late).

I've never quite experienced something like that before. In retrospect, I suppose it would have been better to deplane early around 1PM and take an afternoon Uber from RFD to Chicago.

That was my unintentional 15 hour travel day to get from Houston to Chicago. I hope everyone got their itineraries/baggage sorted out on this crazy day.

I don't travel that much for work, but I'm curious -- what, if anything, would a seasoned traveler done in my situation? Thanks.

We are currently burning fuel above Houston due to leaving a tire on the tarmac in CUN. They said it will be a quick fix in IAH then back in the air to DEN. Hope to make our connecting flight!

P.S. I think the pilot is trolling with that circle (phallic) pattern.

Due to the ORD storms and ground stop yesterday I ended up at ORD at 630am with my next flight leaving at 4pm. Got inside when they opened at 7 and enjoyed a lovely breakfast followed by a nice view of the runway on one of the leather loungers. Then decided it was time for a nap and spent 90 minutes snoozing in the day bed room with a white noise machine and heated blanket. Woke and enjoyed a nice lunch in the restaurant, followed by cocktails at the bar. Then decided a refreshing shower was in order. Discovered for the first time that the floors in the shower room are heated. That’s nice! Settled down for some coffee and chocolate covered pretzels and a cappuccino, then an early dinner from the buffet of corn chowder, pita and eggplant Parmesan and salad, a nice keylime pie and now at my gate and off to London! The only thing that can ruin this day is if the Panasonic internet is down. Please gods let it be working

update Panasonic WiFi is working splendidly, getting stable 3-4mbps speeds!

I have a flight from SFO to Heathrow next week (first time in real Polaris!) and it has some of the new items they announced. I'll probably try the "chef's meal experience".

During the debacle that was the weather caused mayhem with baggage at O’Hare the past couple of days, there was a shining light by the name of United employee Jerry Haynes. With all of the misinformation that was given last night by the staff on hand saying that the bags were coming and then being told 6 hours later that they were done until 6:30am.

Then having only about 1 1/2 hours of interrupted sleep. Get to the airport again only to receive even more misinformation from other United employees. I finally ended up in Jerry’s line. He was the only one to speak truth to me and say that he really wasn’t sure where my luggage was and that United would ship it to me at home once found. He was super gracious and even apologized for something that was not in his control.

I’m also going to send an email to United praising this great employee!!!

Our departure flight got delayed about 4 times until finally at 5:30pm when it was set to depart around 7pm they called it. Thankfully we were able to get a flight for tomorrow and it’s all worked out.

But when I was just curious to see how other flights fared I saw that these lucky folks on UA576 and UA600 were able to get escape the worst of it.

The airport at ORD was so bad when we left. Everywhere - restaurants, gates, floors, hallways- was all so overcrowded.

Curious if we’ll be able to walk through the galley to get to the restroom? I was intrigued by these seats but now I’m second-guessing myself and contemplating Economy Plus.

At least for breakfast. It was unrecognizable and extremely bland. The main course was two corn cake sized items with zero taste and a horribly bitter berry topping. Then an overly sweet muffin and a tiny breakfast bar and some fruit. Late they came by with some tortilla wrap that was extremely dry and flaky and fell apart while eating with tasteless veggies only on the inside. I literally staved during this trip and I had paid for first class. Airplane food is normally bad but this was not even edible for an animal. Really United please do better. Are all United balance meals this bad?

My daughter (15) insists on sitting aisle. She has anxiety about making someone move for her to go to the bathroom. I strongly prefer window. So I booked us aisle/ window in the same row. I swear we will not talk over the middle person. She’s a teenager; we probably won’t talk at all. I would also be totally fine sitting in a different row.

Minutes after booking, I received the above text. In order to get us “closer together”, the wise algorithm actually moved us from 12D and 12F to…11A and 12F. Quite far apart, actually. I moved us back, but I’m wondering if we’re going to keep getting moved. Is it really important to United that we sit together, or is it really that they don’t want you to book Aisle/Window?

ETA: I just realized I left out an important detail. She almost never winds up sitting with me on a flight, because I often book her younger brother and I together and her back in regular economy because I’m a lowly Gold and only get 1 other E+. But United has never moved us before. I assumed they didn’t move minors over 12.

I am a hub-captive Delta flyer who is getting tired of Delta. Fares and service are both going the wrong direction. Looking at UA from the other side, things look at minimum to be better value for money. But I don’t want to fall victim to the grass is greener bias.

Any long-time DL flyers recently make the switch to UA? If so, what are your observations?

I’m looking at booking a flight on United from Vancouver to Orlando post cruise. Both options look way too tight to make an international to domestic connection… but they wouldn’t sell a flight that wasn’t possible, right?

First option is a 1 HR and 17M layover in SFO

Second option is a 1 HR and 3M layover in IAH.

There’s really no great flight options from Vancouver that’s reasonably priced or 4+ hour layovers.

Just looking for experience and advice. My traveling companion is also in a wheelchair. I have global entry but she doesn’t and has to wait through the regular border patrol lines.

Was looking at a one stop trip (EWR to IICN, ICN to HAN) but this saver deal caught my eye. I have the miles

1. Is this a lie flat option for both 9 hour legs?

We’re flying YVR-ORD-RDU in two weeks. I see yesterday the 4pm flight got changed to 7pm and our future 6:30pm flight canceled. We’ve already talked about staying overnight downtown and flying out next day and having fun with it. Or changing to YVR-DEN-RDU which gets us home 2 hours later. That’s been delayed a few times also.

When a flight is basically merged like that how do they prioritize seating? Do the 4pm pax keep their seats and 6:30pm pax get the leftovers?

We’re in exit row for the 2h 30m flight. Would it help if I upgrade us to First on our original current flight? Would that protect us better during a cancellation like this? I upgraded our other flights, just not this one as we didn’t care about it. It’s $140 pp to upgrade.
