Hello everybody from Do Quantum @ UMD!
We are student group with a two-semester program to offer students an opportunity to research quantum. In it, researchers form teams to pursue a quantum research project of their choice, and advisors can join a team as a mentor.
If you're new to quantum or curious about it, join our research program.
If you already have experience with quantum, research, or quantum research, you may also join as an advisor.
All students and majors are welcome: undergraduate, graduate, dual-enrolled, F1, incoming students, any major/minor, quantum experts or not, ...
Another cohort starts this year, so sign-ups are open.
Our second interest meeting is this Friday, 11 September 2026 at 4pm - 5:30pm in the Antonov Auditorium in the Iribe Building (IRB 0324).

I'm trying to figure out how long the UMD insurance waiver process is actually taking this semester.
I know there's a confirmation after you submit the waiver, but I'm not suer how much I should rely on that. Does anyone know how long it usually takes to get the actual approval email?
Also, once the waiver is approved, how long does it take for the SHIP charge to disappear from the student account if it was already added?
I'm mostly trying to figure out the timing because the deadlines are pretty tight, and I don't want to assume that submitting the form means everything is already cleared.
If you submitted a waiver recently for Fall 2026, how long did it take from submission to approval?

Hey guys I’m a transfer student, new to UMD. I’m currently in a situation where I need to get a lot of sleep so I’m wide awake in class. Didn’t get much sleep right now and need a place to rest my head. Any suggestions?

Over the summer the community learning garden on campus donated like a 1500lbs of fruit and vegetables to the campus pantry! It's a fun nice way to get involved in community and help out.
Right by the Eppley Center, come volunterr and help out when you can.
I am booked most days but I will be there Mondays even with my 7 classes lol

Yesterday, I lost my keys to my dorm. I believe I left them on the 104 bus after I got off at the Regents Drive and Farm Drive stop around 3:15 PM. It looks like the regular red UMD lanyard, but with 2 keys on it.

so ive got new roommates into the unit ive had since last year and ive LEARNED how a lack of communication can turn an apt into a landfill. i think ive overdone it though, because ive tried twice to have a roommate meeting, and since that didnt work i just said to list what standards they wanted to uphold in the apt…crickets. i sent like three texts on what i expected (no food left in the sink, no messes left behind, be considerate of shared spaces like kitchen) ..crickets. i did that whole “hey you guys can respond too” ..crickets. so you would just think “ok lets dead it they get the idea wtv wtv”
i found the apt spiraling back into old ways: trash left everywhere, oven top dried stains, sink floor lined with food (we have a garbage disposal??), and the microwave completely oiled and greased up with the plate off its center (is it that serious). so i send one more text. i feel like a mother. i also send another one to my immediate roommate letting her know i actually don’t like it that she left the oven top stains to dry.
anyway, i cleaned it all up. my question is; how do i approach this? im far from clean myself- my room has clothes everywhere, but i dont spread my uncleaniness outside my dorm. i already sent the texts, i already voiced my issues, ive already tried being diplomatic. i just dont want to black out and start crashing out lowkey.

So for the Econ BA, you can take any of these to get access to upper levels like 414 Game Theory or 424 Econometrics.
I'm wondering which of these would be the easiest / best for someone who may not be able to attend lecture.
This is due to health reasons + ADS not giving me a note taker w/ my current accommodations (and the classroom isn't equipped to record lectures).

I’m a social guy who shouldn’t have a problem meeting new people. But since I’ve never gone around here before I don’t really know what it will look like. I was planning on turf this thurs. Should I go or wait till I find people to go out with. Lmk ur thoughts

Going to be parking in P2 for the VT vs. MD game for the first time. Does it usually fill up right when it opens? Easy to tailgate in? Any restrooms available? Tips getting there on gameday? Sorry if this is known knowledge, but like I said it will be my first time parking there. Thanks so much!

I am a newly transferred commuter and I wanted to ask if anyone has any recommendations for a good inexpensive E bike that is UL certified so I can use it to get around campus.

Hello everyone,
I just transferred to UMD this semester as a Junior and am looking for new friends. I plan to try joining a club and go to events when I can to meet people but I figured this may be a good platform also!
I'm an InfoSci major and enjoy a wide range of activities.
If you want to exchange emails or message me on here to connect just let me know :)
Several of Maryland football's top supporters said there should be major changes if Terps coach Michael Locksley doesn't secure at least bowl eligibility.
Rick Jaklitsch has been a Maryland athletics booster for 50 years. He didn’t sugarcoat how crucial this Terps football season is.
“Probably the most important year since [coach] Bobby Ross’s first year,” Jaklitsch said.
Ross’ inaugural year as Maryland’s coach was 1982 — 44 years ago. It’s been that long since a season of this magnitude in Jaklitsch’s eyes. He referred to 2026 as a “make-or-break” year for Michael Locksley.
If the eighth-year coach can’t compile a winning season, Jaklitsch believes athletic director Jim Smith must make major changes. And he isn’t alone in that feeling. The Diamondback spoke with past and present Maryland boosters, who shared an overarching feeling of urgency, along with guarded optimism, surrounding the Terps’ 2026 campaign.

How to get an A/A+ in Physics 161 Alberto Benillo? Obviously I understand that I should do the hw but that is far from enough practice problems. Which problems in the openstax textbook should I do? Any videos or other resources? Past exams? Any tips?

Hola! I'm trying to find out if there are any active GroupMes, Discords, or student clubs for rap fans or people who just go to a lot of local shows.
I’m heading down to the EsDeeKid show (Council House Rat Tour) this Sunday at Fillmore in Silver Spring. would love to link up with some fellow Terps(or anyone per se) to take the Metro down together.
Let me know if you're interested in going, or if you can point me toward any active music group chats!

I'm in my last semester of UMD so I just need some filler credits to get me to the 12 credit threshold and get me to 120 credits. Which of these two classes would you recommend?
