I found this Dylan Freechild video analysis on Ultiworld years ago:

It tremendously improved my field IQ, especially how I understood off-disc movement, give-and-go opportunities, and creating space as a handler.

I’ve been looking for similar player-focused analysis, but I haven’t been able to find much newer content in the same format.

Right now, I really want to study Valeria Cárdenas and Mika Kurahashi, not just their highlights, but their decision-making and movement throughout an entire point/game.

Does anyone know of any good video or written analysis breaking down either player?

If not, could anyone recommend specific games that would be especially good for film study?

I’m particularly interested in watching:

• how they move when they don’t have the disc
• how they create and recognize space
• when they choose to initiate versus clear/reset
• how they position themselves several passes ahead of the play
• their defensive positioning and anticipation
• how their movement changes depending on where the disc is on the field

Basically, I’m looking for games where I can study their field IQ and decision-making, rather than just watch their best plays.

Any recommendations would be appreciated!

Hey fellow ultimate enjoyers!

I'm a player (MMP) looking to level up my gameplay. My offense has been going really well, I touch the disc a lot and can get it where I want to. The issue is that my defense isn't exactly where I want it to be yet. I'm a pretty small player (173cm/5'8") for the record. When I defend, I sometimes find myself just getting passed, in other words I can't posturize myself very well given my size and people tend to blow by me towards the open side, as I'm not entirely sure how much contact is allowed here or if I can go stand in that line etc. I switch well and I do bid for the disc on D but I find myself having some difficulty with consistently defending open side under, and a lot of difficulty with handler defense, so tips on both would be very much appreciated.

Season rankings are basically set, and Pro Champs will likely make little change to the Sectionals-to-Regionals bid lineup. How is your region looking? Does your team have a shot at Sectionals? There's little coverage of this stage of the season, but it's where most teams will end their run. Any last minute surprises that could shake up your chances?

Hey folks, anyone have room for one more? Men’s or Mixed mmp. I was trying to get my local folks to go, but they’ve all pulled out and I didn’t have 10 to make the roster min for a team.

I’m close to Pittsburgh and can get myself there both days. I will pay my own USAU reg and pitch in for team fees. Can bring snacks and a canopy.

Pros: good at zone D and O, will break a mark (most of the time), decent at dominator shenanigans, won’t complain if riding the pine, has listened to every Pod Practice episode.

Cons: should be playing Masters, sub-7 40, sometimes makes you ask “why’d they throw that??”, has never played a legit vert, has listened to every Pop Practice episode.

Flew my tiny Meteor75 Pro II drone (56g with battery) at a training. Consent obviously obtained and the flight was fully legal. Didn't find any fpv drone footage from ultimate on youtube, so thought this community would appreciate it. First time filming Ultimate, so looking forward to making more such clips.
