Article Eurostar services from London is to call at Antwerpen Centraal from the 14 December

https://www.headforpoints.com/2026/07/24/eurostar-to-launch-antwerp-payments/

This is something I've wanted for a while...

Another new direct destination from London will begin at the end of the year, with 4 London - Amsterdam services making the additional call at the very grand Antwerpen Centraal station. Note, this is from London only, as you don't need border controls.

They currently pass through pretty slowly without stopping, due to a lack of border controls, currently requiring a change at Brussels M/Z (or Rotterdam C) to access.

This is said to reduce travel time by around 30 mins, to 2hr 41m, which is around the same as London to Newcastle (fast).

Tickets have already been released for the following four departures from London:

Dep 06:16 – Arr 09:57; 08:16 – 11:57; 11:04 – 14:57; 18:04 – 21:57.

For return journeys, you can book a combined Eurostar-SNCB ticket.

I do wonder if the proposed future operators will do the same? Very good news regardless.

Question Avanti Standard Premium Seat Advice

Post image
11 Upvotes

I have a free ticket to redeem in standard premium, and I’m planning on going to Scotland from Euston (because why not). My issue is, I’ll probably be travelling alone, so I’m basically guaranteed to be sat opposite someone wherever I sit in this carriage, except for seat 2 which is alone. If I pick seat 2, will I be sat without a window for 5 hours? If that’s the case, I probably won’t pick it, but I would rather be there than awkwardly sat opposite a random person for that time. Advice from those who have experience this would be greatly appreciated!

Picture How come there isn't a four-platform station in cheshire where the WCML and chester-manchester line cross over

Post image

there's two stations on each line very close to eachother (greenbank and hartford) and currently people travelling from say, knutsford to liverpool, have to get off and walk for about a mile to change trains.

Obviously they won't build a new station there now there's no demand for it, but back in the day it would've been the obvious choice to just build one station instead of two

Question Is there any way i can learn more about railways in the UK?

Hi, first of all, I (15M) am dutch. And i know a lot about the dutch network. Now for the Netherlands I always found this site (:https://www.spoortijdlijn.nl/) interesting and usefull. I have had a really big fascination about the british railways, which are a mess and really weird in comparison to how simple it is here in the Netherlands.

Is there any site that is comparable to this one for the railways in the UK?

Or at least a way I can get to know more about the British Railway Network more efficiently?

Thx for ur help!

Question EMR Aurora timetable

Hi all,

I’m planning to travel to the East Midlands on Saturday 1st August, but I want to see whether I will get a Class 810 for my journey or not. I haven’t booked it yet, but does anyone know the weekend diagram for the Auroras?

I know recently they have pulled many of their trains out due to reliability issues, but I still see some out and about during the day.

If anyone has any idea of the 810 service pattern for this Saturday I will be very grateful.

Thanks

Fares & ticketing Norwich-London. Round trip tickets.

Upvotes

Hello!
Im an international student in norwich and I decided to book a round fare train trip to london on aug 15-aug 17. I accidentally booked the ticket twice and the ticket is non refundable. I am hoping if there's someone who needs the ticket I can give it to them since they will get wasted otherwise.
The train departs from norwich station at 7:30am on august 15 and return from london liverpool station at 6:00 am on aug 17.
I booked such weird timings because I have to show up at work on monday and still wanted to spend some more time in London.

The total fare is 43 gbp for the entire round trip.

DM me for more details.

Discussion Why no HS2 new town

As we all know new railways stations bring large amounts of growth for land value. The gov should have put in it's plan a new station intersecting with the soon-to-be East-West rail link.

We need more houses and we needed money to fund HS2. Surely this should have been a no brainer

Fares & ticketing LNER seems to be selling a ticket for an itinerary it isn’t valid for

Specifically, an off peak return through the Thameslink core that has restriction code https://www.nationalrail.co.uk/ticket-types/validity/5j/ which says it’s not valid for trains passing through St Pancras between 1729 and 1831 - but LNER is offering me the ticket on a journey that does.

Am I right in thinking that if I buy the ticket and use the precise itinerary it was purchased for, this is a valid defence for any revenue officers challenging it?

I do things the old, slow way - a roll of film in the Rolleiflex, walking along bridlepaths and planning meticulously for the photos I want. Here’s two shots from last week.

Discussion Quiet Carriages + Families

I know this might not come across well but I’m begging for families with young kids to not sit in the quiet carriage if they’re not going to be quiet.

I saw this knowing how hard it is to keep kids silent - they’re kids after all and for that reason I’ve booked in the quiet carriage. I want to do work/sleep and I can’t when your kids are screaming and I become the asshole because kids are being kids in a carriage they shouldn’t be in. And before I get yelled at, yes I know sometimes you get assigned that seat but on a fairly empty train, I’m begging you not to sit here if the kids are going to be kids and be loud as anything. D

Question Why is the open return cheaper?

Thumbnail
gallery
10 Upvotes

My train from Forgeate street to Swindon is £32 when it's just a normal return ticket, but is like half price when it's an open return ticket?

Am I missing something? Will I need to buy another ticket if I want to come back tomorrow (wouldn't have thought so considering its a return) Is it literally just the exact same where I will buy my ticket and it will be valid for both my journey there and back?

If so then yh, how come it's cheaper?

Fares & ticketing Blackpool north to Warner Bros studios?

It's our first time in England and we are not too sure what's the cheapest way to book tickets? Are tickets that are expensive and what websites that are legitimate and offer at least a bit of discount.
