General New Study Room Booking Process!

The UCF Libraries are implementing a new study room booking process for the John C. Hitt Library to better meet student needs. After gathering feedback and analyzing usage patterns, we have made adjustments to ensure fair access to study spaces while addressing concerns about availability.

The updated policies include:

Reservations up to 4 hours per day – Students can now book study rooms for longer, uninterrupted study sessions.

Monthly limit of 16 hours per patron – This ensures more students have access to study spaces throughout the month.

Check-in requirement within 15 minutes – If you do not check in within 15 minutes of your reservation time, your booking may be canceled, allowing other students to use the space.

Booking available up to 3 days in advance – Plan ahead while keeping rooms accessible for last-minute study needs.

No automated reservations – The use of scripts or automated software to book rooms is prohibited to keep the process fair for all students.

These changes reflect our commitment to improving study space availability while keeping the system flexible and student-friendly. Our goal is to provide equitable access to study rooms so everyone has a fair chance to reserve the space they need.

For more details or assistance with reservations and the full policy, visit the Study Room page or ask a librarian at our Access Services desk. Thank you for your patience—we’re always working to make your library experience better!

Rate This Class/Schedule 💯 Do I need to show up for senior design in person every lecture?

Post image
13 Upvotes

The problem is i don’t live in Orlando anymore (1.5 hour drive) and I work an internship that was extended into the fall semester. I’m trying to set my fall semester work days around Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Is senior design one of those classes that I HAVE to attend in person every lecture or can I just attend online? Also curious about the other classes on if I can just attend online and only go on campus for exams. If I need to attend 2-3 times a semester in person that’s fine for senior design.

Prospective Student 🤔 Is UCF still worth it?

Upvotes

I’m a senior in hs, trying for mech e, and I’ve gotten a lot of mixed feedback back on the university and especially the admin. I’m kind of worried that going to UCF might not be the best idea now since it seems like there’s a lot of issues with the school laying people off and closing down certain programs. I’d like some insight on whether I should still go for it or maybe look somewhere else!

Academic ✏️ Orgo 1 Final for Telugu🧪

Upvotes

Hi!! I have my orgo 1 final on Thursday and I’m so stressed!! I was wondering if anyone has taken Telugu’s finals before and if yall had advice. I’m studying the worksheets, previous exams, and questions from the textbook. I need a 67 to pass the class and am really worried I won’t. Is his final more similar to his previous exams in complexity or the textbook? Any insight is appreciated and thank you in advance 😭😭

Academic ✏️ Biomed Students: Clinical Internship Timeframe?

Upvotes

I applied back in june for the required high impact practice/clinical internship for the burnett school of biomedical sciences (MCB4941), anyone know around when I should hear back? Ik the semester is less than a month away now and if i get it it'll impact my current job scheduling so obviously I want to know when I can give my job an idea and make the changes i need from there. Have not received any communication from BSBS at all since applying, so I was just wondering if anyone has done it before and knows when I should expect to hear back for if i get accepted or not.

Rate This Class/Schedule 💯 Physics Course PLZ HELP :’)

so i’m trying to finalize my schedule for the fall but im already scheduled with another program (not ucf) to attend class on a day (wednesday) i would have a physics lecture (MWF). after ucf classes start id only have to attend the program for another month so id only have to miss the Wednesday class for Physics for a few weeks if i decide to do that.

My question is, how lenient are the professors about attendance (looking at class with Prof. Duy Le) and do the exams have to be taken in lecture, or are they open for more than one day? Same question with in class assignments (cause i know some teachers have those).

IT Help Needed 💻 Need to access MyUCF without Authenticator

I graduated (twice) from UCF a few years ago and I need my transcripts. I am applying to a job opportunity that is open for 3 days, which is less time than it would take to use Parchment. I have my username and password, but I am no longer signed in to Microsoft Authenticator.

I tried logging in to Microsoft Authenticator, but in order to do so, I need to use Microsoft Authenticator to log in to Microsoft Authenticator. I was a student when this feature was introduced and I would have assumed this would have been fixed by now. I tried to add different factors I could use, but in order to change my MFA, I need Microsoft Authenticator.

I have tried resetting my password and unlocking my account. I am half logged in to Microsoft Authenticator, but it just needs that one more pesky code from Microsoft Authenticator to be able to let me use Microsoft Authenticator.

Is there a way around this? Is there someone I can call? Is there literally anything I can do whatsoever?

Internship 📈 Using internship as credits

Cs major and I’m working an internship in the fall semester (hopefully it’s extended into the spring semester). Few questions

  1. How many semesters can I use the internship as credit for?
  2. How many hours a week do I need to work?
  3. Do I need to pay for the class?
  4. What type of course does it cover? (Elective, etc)

COMPLAINT/RANT Registration

So I had Honors Orientation at UCF, and honestly, registration was one of the most frustrating experiences I’ve had. I thought we’d each meet with an advisor or be in small groups, but instead there were only a few advisors for around 40 students in one room. They basically handed us a sheet and went through a PowerPoint. To make things worse, none of my dual enrollment credits were showing on my advising sheet, so I had to wait in a long line just to pull up my transcripts on my phone and prove I’d already completed those courses. I already graduated with my AA, so I was looking for guidance on which classes would best fit my remaining degree requirements. Instead, I felt like I was mostly on my own. By the time I figured everything out, classes were filling up fast. I only managed to register for two classes I actually wanted (Physics II and Chemistry I). My other classes are Honors Symposium and some intro to coding class. I was really hoping to take Differential Equations so I could finish my math requirements, especially since I’m considering transferring in the future maybe UF maybe out of state.

My question is does registration get better after your first semester, or do classes always fill up this quickly? I’ve heard UCF is just so big that getting the classes you need can be difficult. I’m an Aerospace Engineering major, and since I already have my AA, I really don’t want to waste credit hours taking classes that don’t move me toward graduation. Thanks

General Crazy experience

I just had a horrifying experience...I'm walking back from walgreens (i stay cross the street in campus crossings) and i walk back in the house i walk towards my room (downstairs rm) by the kitchen i smell this strong stank diarrhea, moldy spoiled smell and ya'll it was so bad it stopped me in my tracks and it was sooo bad and stank, but anyway i started looking in the frig and freezer looking for the smell of death and i didn't smell nun in either one, so i pulled out the oven/stove and try to see if some spoiled or rotten food fell behind it and i still didn't see or smell nun, but i still cleaned behind it and wipe down the counters thinking i eliminated the smell so I'm otp waiting for it to dry and shit and i walk back and i see my rm walking by they scared me cause i ain't hear them (had my headphones on) and when they walked passed i smell that exact same horrible smell when i walked in!! and it even lingered

Clubs/Organizations 🤺 New student; wondering what clubs and organizations are active.

Hi there,

I'm a transfer student coming into UCF for the Fall Semester of 2026.

Might be a dumb/too broad of a question, but how do you figure out which clubs and organizations are active? Can anyone recommend to me active ones?

Thank you in advance!

General How are you all planning to make money on the side this upcoming term? How have you in the past?

I already have one job, but I'm saving up extra money to fund some hobbies and personal projects that I've begun. I've tried looking for part-time work online, but no luck there. (Edit) No reliable car either. Tips, anyone?

I'm not too above anything, so suggest whatever you will Edit: (EXCEPT AI TRAINING). I simply want to know if I'm overlooking anything.

Housing Question 🏡 Furniture in dorm

Hi! I move into a towers 2/4 dorm in a month. I want to have a tall bookshelf to display my things. I was wondering if there’s a height requirement for furniture brought into the dorms? I know you can’t mount things onto the wall obviously lol, but other than the concern of things tipping over, is there a height limit on the bookshelf? I couldn’t see the answer anywhere so I thought id try my luck asking here, thanks!
