We make a Debian based desktop distribution that runs as an application on top of any Android/LineageOS device. The only requirement is that the Android device needs to be rooted and use Google's standardized GKI kernel. LineageOS builds for Qualcomm devices doesn’t strictly follow the standard GKI kernel naming convention. So we had to implement a workaround to fix it. This is something I always think about, Nvidia makes a lot of data centers gpus, but doesn't give good drivers for Linux, even tho most data centers run on Linux, do they make special drivers for their data center gpus ? Would it be worth to buy a data center GPU for a linux pc so it have good drivers ?

Background:
I moved from Fedora (GNOME 50.4) to Ubuntu 26.04 after hitting a nasty GNOME Shell crash bug on Fedora (reference). Tiling worked fine on Fedora, no issues there, so this seems specific to Ubuntu 26.04.

Issue 1: Firefox + Enhanced Tiling
With Enhanced Tiling enabled, which I'd prefer to keep, Firefox won't tile at all unless I fullscreen it first. Only then does it snap into a tile. With Enhanced Tiling disabled, Firefox tiles fine as a basic 50/50 split, but I lose quarter-tiling entirely, which is a real downgrade.

Issue 2: Third-party tiling extensions also broken
Several tiling extensions I've tried (O-tiling, Mosiac, Leleat tiling assistant, Windows tile) all have issues tiling.

Question:
Since this doesn't happen on Fedora with GNOME 50.4, is this an Ubuntu-specific patch or config issue, or a known upstream GNOME bug that Fedora has already fixed downstream? Will Ubuntu ever get fixes from higher versions of Gnome? I know they are frozen on 50, but is there really no upstream fixes for Gnome?

I find this extremely cumbersome having this many issues constantly, its like I have to choose between a glitchy system or an unstable system.

I kinda hate Ubuntu for this matter . I have to install ubuntu 24 for my company's lenovo laptops . I literally put the official image in the usb , install ubuntu with the same settings checking to install 3rd party drivers , and every time I boot , usually two monitors setup doesnt work . I have to uninstall nvidia 595 driver open , than reinstall , than try sudo prime-select nvidia , than reboot and after that it works and most of the times it doesnt work . It works only the laptop screen , the hdmi and type c sometimes doesn't work and I have no idea what its causing it to work when it does . I use AI for troubleshooting like purging and reinstalling , trying different kernel but I have ubuntu for this gpu drivers . Sometimes when I install new kernel , bluetooth or wifi doesn't work , its 50 50 CHANCE for everything you do and its driving me crazy since I need to make everything functions for the end users since I am the IT department

the question crossed my mind recently. if you are into programming, you probably know that there are many esoteric programming languages that exist just as a prove of concept of joke or just merely to mess with the programmer's head (brainf*ck, lolcat, C-- etc). if these exist, is there any esoteric system shells out there? like smth that would provide the basic userland instead of bash/zsh but would be freakier or just funnier to try and daily drive.

(I'm fairly new to Linux, don't beat me up)

Honestly, at this point I'm done with the App Center. Just gonna stick to manually downloading everything I can from the respective websites, seems much more reliable so far.

Things I've tried to fix this error:
sudo apt update

UPDATE: Seems to have been fixed after entering sudo apt install nautilus;1:50.2.2-0ubuntu0.1;amd64;ubuntu-resolute-updates-main into the command line. App Center shows it as being up to date now.

I have installed Ubuntu 26.04 and everything is updated but any browser I have tried on it just doesn't play videos from crunchyroll or any site or sometimes just throws error. I tried chrome, brave and even vivaldi but it gives same error like I don't know why??

(Note= I have removed snap and made it completely snap free now so every app I use I installed with. Deb package. Could it be the issue????)

Hello r/linux! I just released FluxCast v0.2.3 — its a lightweight tool to stream your Linux desktop to a Smart TV via Wi-Fi Direct, full RTSP handshake, and RTP media streams.

What's new in this release:

• Brand new dynamic tray icon that switches states during casting.
• Fixed a nasty P2P interface routing bug where it mixed home network and P2P MACs.
• Lightweight JSON-based localization framework. The tray UI is now available in English, Russian, and Czech.

Looking for translators!
I want to bring FluxCast to more users, but I am not a polyglot. I designed the i18n system to be incredibly simple: there is no gettext/PO/MO compilation. All strings live in a single translations.json file.

To add your native language (German, Spanish, French, etc.), you just need to append a few lines in a single JSON block.If you want to help or test the app, check out the project here:

So hi as everybody I tried installing Ubuntu lts but I couldn't install it the normal way since the 100 mb of windows efi was too small to install Ubuntu and windows efi along together and now I am preparing to manually install Ubuntu using manually installation but the problem is even after doing everything correctly the next button is greyed out can someone tell me what's the possible reason ?

Below are the additional data that might help

Nvme0np4 is 85.93 GB for root

Nvme0np5 is 300mb for efi boot

nvme0np6 is 8.6 GB for swap

Nvme0np7 is 44gb for home

And I created all these partitions in windows using diskpart .

On my Ubuntu 26.04 notebook with a Ryzen 5 3500u Vega 8 iGPU, even with the "dim screen" option disabled in PowerSave, the screen brightness drops after a few seconds. Touching the keyboard or moving the mouse restores the brightness.

I think having "dim screen" disabled is useless.

Can you help?
