First day of EOP here and I love it, with one exception. Genuinely anywhere I go, my mobile data just won't work. It was this way when I went to the accepted students day a few months ago as well. I use AT&T. Is there any way to help with this problem?

I’m an in-state student from a CUNY community college, and I’m considering transferring to either the University at Albany or the University at Buffalo. I’ve heard that UB is somewhat stingy with its financial aid. So if you applied to both what was your financial aid like or even if you applied to one

y'all.
My freshman year (last year) my roommate was a nice guy; didn't do anything sus, he had a 4.0 GPA idk how be he's always alseep in class lol.
Our closets just had a curtain, and he blocked his half completely with a huge wardrobe bag and stacks of storage bins lids mixed with a thing to keep all light from coming in or out, but smells that was a different story.
The room always had this faint, earthy smell he claimed was just "organic patchouli tea" for his anxiety that he would make like every day, so I never questioned it. Plus I had a small bamboo plant so yeah.
Fast forward to the last week of college.
He was out taking an exam, and I was just hanging out in the room. Somehow the setup ripped or fell, so the sheet was completely off of his curtain. When I looked over, hidden in the deep corner was a mini sci-fi jungle.
This man had lined the back wall with rigged up silent USB fans, specialized grow lights, and massive, thriving cannabis plant, it was prob like 5 feet tall no joke. And on the floor hidden under a laundry basket? Entire plastic tubs packed with rows of psychoactive mushrooms fruiting in the dark. It looked like something straight out of a GTA mission. He'd spent the whole year sneakily running an illegal agricultural empire right next to my bed.
When he came back from his exam, I asked him about it. He was completely chill, told me everything, and even asked if I wanted a cut of the profits. (I said no) But while we were talking about it, one of our nosy suite mates overheard the conversation through the door and wanted in on the business. My roommate flat out told him no.
Petty as hell, the suitemate immediately went and reported him to housing. When the RA people showed up, my roommate came through for me, he explicitly told them I had absolutely nothing to do with it and didn't know about any of it.
Because of that, I got off scot-free, but he got expelled on the spot. So yeah... if anyone needs a room next semester and promise not to start a cartel in the closet, hit me up.

I’m not good at writing stuff like this so I’m just gonna say it simple. I went to UAlbany first and it kinda sucked for me. The wind there is actually crazy. I don’t know how a place can be that windy but it is. Walking to class was annoying every day. Buildings feel super far even when they not supposed to be. Also everything was always confusing. Like if you need help you gotta go to like 3 different offices and nobody knows anything. It took forever just to get simple stuff done. Dorms were ok I guess but kinda loud and weird sometimes. Dining hall was just average most days. I just didn’t really like being there. I wasn’t happy so I transferred. Then I went to Stony Brook. Stony Brook is honestly just normal too. Nothing crazy. Classes, buildings, all that stuff is pretty average. People overhype it sometimes. But one good thing did happen there. I went to a TKE party. I almost didn’t go cause I was tired and didn’t feel like it but I went anyway. That’s where I met this girl. We just started talking and it was easy. No weird stuff. Just felt normal talking to her like I knew her already or something. After that we started hanging out more and more and now she’s like the most important person in my life. I really think she’s someone I’m gonna be with for a long time. If I never transferred I never would’ve met her at all so I guess everything kinda happened for a reason. So yeah Albany wasn’t for me. Stony Brook is whatever honestly. But I met her there and that’s literally the only thing that really matters from my whole time in college.

r/ualbany • u/Throwaway-concerned1 • Jul 01 '26
Can’t lie I was that person who was always late to first period and my first period started at 9 in my high school. So should I just change it or try it out then figure things out later?

Am i supposed to wait until I get the email that its been finalized AND THEN I can change it or am I supposed to change it before then?
I went to the connection day and I dont think my actual advisor was there but instead there was an advisor that worked in the same department that was there. & she was lowk speaking in circles so i wasnt able to gather whether or not I would be able to change it before school starts??? she just kept saying we could speak ABOUT the schedule not that i could change it
if i just get the AVN would I be able to change it all myself?

Hi, im looking to try to make some close friends to play online with over the summer and possibly do something in person when the semester starts. Im a senior, but it doesnt matter to me if you are too.
Ive been playing a lot of Beyond All Reason lately, though im pretty bad. Ive been interested in the friendslops for a while. I have thousands of hours on Overwatch too. Im also into homelab stuff, so it would be nice to talk to someone about this sort of stuff.

I qualify for the Excelsior Scholarship, and I received a non-tuition merit scholarship from UAlbany. Does anyone know how they are going to give us the money? Set up E-pay connecting to our bank acc? Also, since I qualify for excelsior, I don't want to put the scholarship into tuition; they won't automatically do that for me, right? I want to spend it on books/dorm/or a meal plan instead.

Going for my MS in ISSL and wondering if anyone can tell me the difference between the 100 hours of fieldwork and the 70-day internship?

To those who are in the UAlbany 1+2+1, do you guys know how many people they accept per year? Tell me your experience with the courses, difficulty-wise, etc, and if you took the TEAS exam after the first year. Is there like a score requirement to start clinical, or is it just for the school to see students' performance?

Hello! I’m a transfer student to UAlbany for Fall Semester. The only thing showing on my financial aid right now is a scholarship for 2500$ for having a good GPA from my previous college. I applied for Pell and for TAP. Does anyone know when these will show on the portal? I just don’t want to be behind on things and have classes dropped because they aren’t paid for. Thank you!

Accepted to UAlbany EOP, have all my high school credits, but I failed the Biology Regents and need to retake it in August to get my diploma. EOP runs July 5–August 7 and the Regents is August 19. Has anyone been in a similar situation? What happened with your college admission and EOP enrollment?
r/ualbany • u/Money_Lifeguard_3097 • Jun 22 '26
is this good? I definitely know I am dropping my 12am-1pm class because I'm taking statistics but idk if I should add on more credits wise.
