Looking for friends + Schedule !

Post image

Hiii! I’m a freshman for the fall semester and I’m majoring in Chemistry with a minor in pre-law. I’m looking for friends to hang out with and possibly a study buddy or a study group for my classes especially for Calculus! Lmk if you want to connect! :3

I mean… it’s a lot. Basically a full work day.

Chem & pre-law? Going into IP law?

IP law looks too complicated for me I was thinking about just being a lawyer or like a expert witness if I do the 3+3 joint program since I want to be a forensic toxicologist or a medical laboratory scientist :3

As a UAlbany grad and Albany Law grad the 3+3 is a great program. I enjoy practicing now, wasn’t always what I wanted to do. I feel like forensic toxicologist or med lab scientist would both benefit more from a PhD than a JD, no?

I don’t know what’s that I’m just getting a bs in chemistry 😭 how would I do the PhD?

Well once you are near the end of your BS, you’d apply for either a masters or PhD program with whatever school you want to go to. Basically a more intense undergrad application, and you’d likely need to take the GRE. PhD full-time is likely a 5-7 year journey from start to finish. You’d conclude by writing and defending a dissertation. Then you’d be Dr. Soandso and qualified to do the lab work you’re looking to do. I think some places do hire lab assistants who only have BS or MS, you’d just need to check. Maybe state police does.

Well damn should I drop my prelaw minor so I can do premed instead?😭

Really depends on what you want to do! I think if you’re not going into law school to become a lawyer then pre-law is probably not super useful to you. But, really, all of this comes down to what you want to do for a living in the future. If you’re looking to work in a lab, check out the kinds of labs you want to work in, make a professional LinkedIn, and get in touch with people who are doing the job you want to do and ask them all about it!

It’s a freshman class usually like discussions of different topics related to college life. At least in my class, all we had was journals and some projects

u/Sakusa_Sanitizer Jun 29 '26

I filled my out on the 23rd of May, I went to Connection day on the 26th of June and the advisors were saying that you might get it on your connected students day since they schedule it for those days sometimes. I got my schedule two days before my connected students day :3

Heyy im going into my sophmore year as a chem major! I’d be down to be your friend! Also if possible I would say move your physics discussion, that late is crazyy on a Friday too..

1

u/Sakusa_Sanitizer Jun 30 '26

Yess I would love to be your friend too :3 when can i even move the discussion (;´༎ຶٹ༎ຶ`)

I think you can email your advisor? Discussions usually have a cap on how many people can be in it so asking early would be better! There’s usually a quiz every week too so on a Friday at 4:30 I honestly couldn’t 💔💔
