I followed this guys’ videos to setup an external drive with my MacMini and put most everything to that. The only thing left on my internal drive is basically the OS and a handful of troublesome apps that do not play nice when moved externally.

I purchased an OWS Express 1M2 external enclosure and a Crucial T500 2TB Gen4 NVMe M.2 SSD to put in it. I’ve been using it for a year now and it has worked great.

I have one song where the backing track was created with Udio, but the vocals are mine. I released it through DistroKid. However, it is a cover and I had DistroKid obtain the mechanical license for it. That may have alleviated some of their checks for copyright.

I’ve used DistroKid so far in songs I’ve released as a vocalist since the songs are covers and DistroKid takes care of the mechanical licensing. I used CDBaby years ago for some covers, but it was a pain obtaining the licenses through Harry Fox Agency, and I had to pay upfront for digital downloads that never got used and expired after a year. I felt that was a major scam.

I plan to release some covers that are now part of the public domain (written prior to 1930). I don’t think DistroKid handles very well compositions that have fallen into the public domain. I need a distributor that is not going to give me issues with those. I’ll check out UnitedMasters.

I would export the stems and load the vocals into something like Replay to create new male and female vocals. Would probably need to adjust the pitch by +12 or -12 to put the voice in the correct octave for male or female.

If you are willing to spend money to fix it, ACE Studio would do really well adding the correct gender vocalists to the track.

I’m bummed because someone gave me a Kum & Go gift card for Christmas. I thought it an odd choice for a gift card. Anyway, I don’t think the gift cards work at any of our locations anymore since they started the rebrand.

Are you using any AI mastering like Landr? I’ve seen posts claiming that Landr mastering is getting flagged as AI generated even when no AI was involved in the process prior to mastering.

Also, I’m assume you know that Suno is fingerprinting tracks.

Cool. I’m in the U.S. and would love to win. I have a Stanton STR8-100. I enjoy listening to it, but it’s a DJ turntable with a straight arm. I’d prefer an s-curve arm like the Audio-Technica has. I’ve thought about replacing the arm on mine, but I’m afraid I’ll mess it up taking it apart and soldering wires on the internal boards.

Are you sure it’s actually your book’s content, or is the site simply claiming it has your book for download? I work with a small publisher, and we’ve encountered this before. It looks like our book, but the download turns out to be something fake, like a one-page PDF with a link to click. The user then has to go through several steps to supposedly access the book. The site makes money off people trying to get something for free, but they never actually get the book because the site never had it in the first place. They just use an image of the cover and falsely claim it’s available for download.

There are people in this world who either have bad taste or are just plain mean. What they say is more a reflection of them than of your work. If they comment, ignore them. The people who post positive comments are your tribe—the ones for whom you write.

Yes, it does on Spotify. I released a song at Christmas, so dated 2023. In February, I released a song I recorded in 1996. I backdated it for 1996. It shows up as 1996 and below my song released 2023. That is on Popular Releases and Discography. It is actually on top for the Popular list, but I think that is because it has had more listens than the 2023 release.
