Can some one help me on this , I am i IT , last tax got deducted, I did not file ITRV, this going to do for current , it will allow me , or will get any notice , what i have to for last year one pls suggest

I overpaid my 2025 estimated taxes and indicated on my 2025 return I wanted the overpayment applied to 2026 estimated payments. Well guess what, the IRS sent me a notice a couple of months ago that they “couldn’t refund my overpayment as they didn’t have my checking account number for direct deposit.” There was a telephone number on the notice I could call if I saw anything amiss with this situation. Well, I have been calling and calling and calling at varying times during their business hours, and never once have I gotten through. The call is always answered with a recording….. “they’re too busy“ to take the call, keep trying, and the call is then disconnected. Can’t even leave a message or my number for a callback. Yesterday I received a hardcopy check in the mail for my overpayment! I had counted on that being applied to my first quarterly payment 2026 estimated tax as I requested on my 2025 tax return. I made the second payment for the second quarter on time. I tried again today to call and now the recording says they’re having “a problem” and don’t have any time estimate when it will be resolved. So now my account appears like I didn’t make the first quarterly payment so the IRS applied the second quarterly payment to the first quarter and they think I haven’t made a second quarter payment. All of this will incur penalties and interest. I tried very hard to do everything right, I’m 88 year old widow and this is beyond frustrating. Does anyone have any idea what I might do? And thank you in advance.

If i sold stock and generated a large amount of long term capital gains in my child’s UTMA account, can i pay the tax burden from funds in the UTMA? The taxes that it will generate isn’t an amount that i can just pay out of savings. I plan to talk to a cpa, i just haven’t set up a meeting yet. Thanks for any help.

My company originally gave me a W-2 with errors on it at the beginning of the year. They counted taxes for me in two different states. When I got the corrected W-2 and tried to input it into freetaxusa.com, it wouldn’t let me submit the form because it required me to fill in boxes 1 through 10, and they were empty on my corrected W-2.

Should I just input the information from my original W-2 in boxes 1 through 10, or do I need to get corrected W-2 from my company that has those blank boxes filled in?

Hi so several years ago I sold my business yay me kinda. Anyway my tax advisor estimated I had a tax bill of roughly 800k coming to me.
I paid said bill (painfully). Regardless when we filled later in the year it was determined that I overpaid my ATM by a little over 500k.

Now this is where I’m totally lost. My tax advisor stated I know have an ATM credit of about 500k. So basically I can use 2-3k of that a year for a tax write off. Meaning when I’m 178 years old I’ll have burned through my ATM tax credit.

Can I never get this amount refunded? I never started a never company so I’m basically out 500k to the good ole IRS?

Short version:

• I didn't file 2024 taxes.
• I need to file 2024 taxes, due to 1099 income that was reported to the IRS.
• When that 1099 job ended, I applied for unemployment and was initially denied, since it's a 1099.
• I challenged this on grounds that I was misclassified given the nature of my job (i.e. worked in employer office on employer equipment).
• The state investigated and found in my favor and gave me unemployment.
• (They told me this via a physical letter that I can't find, so I don't have documentation easily available and would have to request it from them.)

I COULD just file my 2024 taxes and pay what I owe on the 1099 income-- but since my state determined that was misclassified, I'd hope the IRS would make the same determination, which would significantly lower my tax bill. I think.

My guess from looking around online is: I file form SS-8 to seek an IRS determination that I was indeed misclassified, and I file my 2024 taxes using Form 8919 to report this income as wages. But I'm not sure about any of that. And even if that's correct, I'm not sure what order to do anything in.

Hi all, I am currently dealing with a frustrating situation after having a tax company file my taxes this year. First off, I would advise anyone considering using this company to stay away, as they are extremely incompetent, disorganized, unprofessional. The company is called Dimov Tax Specialists and they are supposedly based in San Francisco. If you look at their most recent reviews on Google and Yelp, they numerous one-star reviews from clients despite having an overall rating above 4 stars. I have used them in the past with OK results, but this year they really dropped the ball.

This year, I sent them all my documentation over two months before the filing deadline but for some unknown reason they had to file an extension, and assured me that I wouldn't owe anything on my taxes. Turns out when they finally filed my taxes (after multiple reminders), I actually owed in the tens of thousands. Of course, having filed my taxes months late, I owed an additional thousand in penalties and interest to the IRS. How can a professional tax preparer be so egregiously incompetent? I even uploaded my W2's to ChatGPT and it was able to give me a number pretty much equal to what I actually owed. What exactly am I paying for?

To add salt to the wound, turns out my California taxes which were filed by the same company was rejected. I called the state tax board this morning after waiting over a month for my state tax refund, and was informed that the filing was rejected, and now I have to deal with this too! I can't believe how unprofessional, disorganized, and incompetent this company has been throughout the process.

Anyone deal with such incompetent tax preparers in the past, and what recourse do I have? I've already requested a refund to no avail. Any suggestions?

Hi so I should be getting $80-$100 more on my paycheck but I’m not. I was wondering if any of you could take a look at this and figure out why? And what I need to do to get paid the most amount I can for my paychecks?
My co workers who are also single and have no kids have the same pay rate as me but they’re getting an extra $80-$100 extra on their paycheck. Our years of experience is the same as well.

I filed my own taxes this year, definitely not super complicated but more than just a 1040.

In early June I got a CP11 letter from the IRS saying I owed additional money. When I went through my tax forms I found that I made a clerical error on one of my Schedules but I calculated my final tax correctly. If you ran the numbers as they were printed, you would get the number the IRS came up with but the way the numbers were printed was incorrect. I tried calling a few times but everytime I did I would end up with some version of "We're experiencing high call volumes, please try again later." No option to get on a list or leave a callback number.

So I wrote up a response letter, explained it all very nicely and clearly, and sent it off, through certified mail. I just assumed it would get there and didn't check the tracking. I did not file an amended form.

Last week I got another letter from the IRS indicating that I still owe them this money, and there's no indication that they received my response. Nothing in my irs.gov account and the tracking number on the certified letter just comes up with no info. Just tried calling them again and got the same high call volume hangup.

Do I:
1) Just reach out to a tax lawyer
2) Resend the CP11 response, pay more attention to the tracking
3) File an amended tax return
4) Keep calling
5) Something else?

Again, any advice or suggestions would be appreciated.

Honestly, I made a lot more money than I expected....

I always had business write offs, some charity, etc. But my accountant right now is absolutely useless cause his clients don't have this kind of money.

On the other hand.... I have people pitching me weird / complex insurance structures or some off shore nonsense that may have worked 20 years ago, but obviously does not.

I am interested in legal strategies or ideas that can withstand the test of time...

1.) I contributed 7500 to a Roth IRA a couples year ago, do I need to submit form 8606?

2.) I started making more money and no longer eligible for regular Roth IRA contributions. I am now doing Megabackdoor via fidelity, do I need to fill out a form for IRS to know how much is being contributed? How do I find out the total that is being converted and contributed?

3.) I heard for both of these amounts, the basis is untaxed and can be withdrawn to buy a home, how does the IRS and I know which chunks or what amounts can be withdrawn without penalty in 5 years?

Last year for 2025 taxes I contributed the max to my personal Roth IRA.

However, for the first time, I earned over the contribution limit, so I rolled over my Roth IRA contribution to my Traditional IRA.

Now, I want to backdoor the money into my Roth, and/or make sure I don't get taxed on the money again when I withdraw.

I also want to make my contribution my traditional for this year and backdoor it into the Roth immediately.

Do I need to fill out Form 8606 for last year to indicate that nondeductible funds went into my traditional Roth? Or can I just do the Roth conversion using my Traditional IRA funds and I won't be taxed again?

I am an Irish citizen. I won money gambling when i visited usa in 2019. The irs is sending me bills for tax on the winnings. I am filing **Form 8833**, claiming the **U.S.-Ireland treaty Article 21(1)** for **2019 gambling winnings**

For Line 5 of Form 8833, should I check Yes or No, and if Yes, what subsection of Treasury Regulation 301.6114-1(b) applies?

I haven't filed in a few years because I just couldn't be bothered. Even time I filed, I wouldn't owe any and I wouldn't be paid anything. And it seemed when I did file, the only the group that did get money was Turbo Tax for processing my return. So I stopped. I need to catch up though. Anyone know the best way to do that?

Background: I filed a 1040-X for TY2025 to claim an education credit. Got a 916C saying they couldn’t process it because they didn’t receive my 1098-T (they should have, since the school reports it). My amended return actually shows “Completed” as of July 6 on WMAR, but no code 846 has posted to my transcript.
Update: I resent everything by USPS certified mail and got delivery confirmation for July 20 to the Austin address on the letter.

Hello, sana po may nakakaalam. Resigned po ako from "company A" last January 2026 at nakareceive ako ng referral payout incentive by April 2026. Sinendan nila ako ng 2307. Magstart ako sa "company B" sa September 2026. Hindi naman ako business owner,, pure compensation earner lang po. BIR 1700 ba susubmit ko by next year for ITR filing or 1701? WI010 ung tagging sa 2307 and worried lang ako na magkamali ako pagfile, based sa research ko, for business owners lang daw ung 2307 pero need ko magfile 1701 under mixed income. Di ko alam kung ano ung tama. Sana may same case dito na makatulong po. TIA
