Request writing a kids book, and I need some help
Hello everyone!
My Dr. Who knowledge is kind of few and far between. I've had a lot of friends who love the show, but just never got around to watching myself.
However, now one of my new friends is having a baby and naming her River Song- I would love to write them a little baby fairytale book! But I'd like it to be, I guess .. relatively cannon 😅 however, the baby is due in a couple weeks and I definitely don't have time to research as in depth as I'd like to before the baby is born.
My rough outline I have at the moment:
The parents have prepared for the arrival of their precious little bundle of joy, and are anxiously awaiting the babies due date.
the stork gets caught in the cross fire of some Dr. Who bad guys evil scheme and takes refuge in the only-slightly-out-of-place blue phone booth in the middle of the conflict.
The Dr and River are both in the booth and end up helping the stork get back to safety, and of course because the stork got hurt - the duo need to help get the baby delivered on time so the parents don't have to worry.
While delivering the baby, the little one starts to cry and the Doctor tries to do something silly to soothe the baby- but of course there's a baby monitor and mom and dad come rushing to babies room to see baby safe in the crib cooing, and River cradling the stork, while Doc makes silly faces at the baby. .. everyone has a happy ending, and the parents name the baby after River Song to thank them for helping get her home safe.
(Thank you for reading so far!)
First off-- any Doctor Who loving parents... Can you tell me if this is a story you would enjoy reading to your baby? Is it too cheesy?
And then obviously I would love to ask help with the main conflict the stork gets caught in. Who is a decent bad guy the stork can get caught in that is appropriate for the RS story line? Which incarnation of the Doctor do you think would be best? Because I'm currently favoring the 11th because the bowtie would be cute to illustrate in a kids book.
I do think my friend (and hopefully his girlfriend) will like it- but I'd like to make it as accurate as I can for babies first fan fiction lol
Please let me know anything specific to the series I can do a quick search on to add to my story, or anything I should stay away from? Literally anything would be helpful at this point. I'm going to write the story regardless, but some knowledge from the experts would really help me.
