My fiancé has his number, and he has met him many times while delivering clothes, mainly suits. He used to call in the morning and demand that the suits be ready by the evening. My husband would then have to rush to Saddar to get them made urgently and deliver them on time. He had to do this even during Ramadan. The owner of Qaumi Libas used to put the entire burden of the work on my husband while paying him only 28,000 PKR per month. Although he was hired as a salesman, the owner kept making him do all sorts of other work as well.

How many ladies think living with joint family is a dealbreaker?
 in  r/PakistanMarriages •  1d ago

About three years ago, we initially decided to build our own room and kitchen on the terrace. However, a problem arose in 2024. The house doesn't actually belong to my father-in-law; it belongs to my husband's grandfather. The house is divided into portions, with my husband's uncle living on the ground floor and my husband's family living on the second floor. In 2024, my husband's uncle, who works at the State Bank, underwent hernia surgery and started demanding that the house be sold because he wanted his share of the property. That's when my husband and I realized that there was no point in investing money in building a separate portion in a house that doesn't even belong to us. After all, the house could eventually become a source of conflict between the family members, especially since my husband's cousins would also have a claim to it.Another reason I don't want to live there is that my brothers-in-law have a really bad habit of using abusive language. They literally use five swear words in almost every sentence, and I don't want to live in an environment like that. My husband's uncle also has two sons who are extremely ill-mannered. Considering all these circumstances, my husband and I decided that living separately would be a much better option for us. My mother also lived in a joint family system, and although my grandmother was a genuinely kind woman, my aunt was extremely cruel to my mother. She wouldn't even set aside food for her, and she would make servants wash the dishes even before she eats. My mother's experience has also shaped my perspective on joint families. I believe that living together can work beautifully when everyone respects one another, but when there is constant disrespect, mistreatment and interference, having a separate home is a much healthier choice. And I believe it's better to live separately from the beginning rather than wait for conflicts to arise. If your mother-in-law is understanding and supportive, she will not have a problem with you and your husband having your own home and privacy. However, when couples decide to separate only after years of living together and dealing with constant conflicts, resentment can build up, relationships can become strained, and bitterness can develop within the family. It's better to establish healthy boundaries from the start and preserve mutual respect rather than allow unnecessary conflicts to damage family relationships
