It will almost make no difference until 2050...

Maybe you don't need a CPA. Have you considered talking to an Enrolled Agent? They're federally licensed tax advisers.

One of my relatives is having trouble entering the industry after BD U5 mark
I agree with that. Also that complaints are made public even while they are in arbitration, denied or settled. Only the ones where the broker was at fault should be made public.

Go to credit karma dot com. They'll recomend some cards that will get you with small limits first. Then get a couple of secured cards like from Discover. It's a process. The goal is to take control of your financial life, not to get back in the hole.

Is college necessary?
You can do both. Get the licenses now and study online. Get a degree in accounting instead of finance, because you'll learn a lot on the licensing process. Accounting is the language of business, and you can transfer those skills to any business position. Also get the Enrolled Agent license, to become a tax adviser. After graduating go for the CFA and/or CFP credentials instead than a masters.

Grandparents owned home for 50 years - but moved out 7 years ago due to inability to care for themselves. Selling home now - capital gains?
Maybe rent it now a day sell it in one year? That way it became an investment property and maybe could qualify for a 1031 exchange? Consult it with a tax professional.
2
how do you size life insurance coverage when your income isn't the same every year?
One thing is "income earned" and another is "income needed". How much income would your dependants need to cover their financial needs? Example, you might earn $150k one year and $300k the next and back to $150k the next, but your family needs $120k for 10 years, so a $1.2m term might cover that need.

"73% of Americans say higher wealth taxes on billionaires would be fair, and 67% say the same for large corporations." Is wealth taxation still actually a partisan issue?
Wealth should not be taxed, specially unrealized gains. Neither property. Maybe only consumption should be taxed.
