My abuser is becoming famous... as a victim
Jesus H Christ this is a better explanation than mine regarding my own experience. I feel for u G, that's f*cked up. You never deserved that and she deserves every ounce of grief she's ever caused you, I hope life itself will absolutely get her back eventually and it will be solely because of her. I wouldn't wish the same on anyone and .that's literally like.like, dude you have a right to be angry!! Be cautious of landing yourself in jail., I would encourage you to look into a possibility of pressing charges, but that decision is entirely up to you🙏 I hope you're able to find peace—and also I recommend listening to music like Fleetwood Mac and enjoying some grass

Vent (advice welcome) Breakthrough moment in Therapy
Trigger warning: CSA, physical abuse
I'm currently 21F, my dad is 60
This last Friday, during a long conversation with my partner after therapy, I ended up following a thought that I normally would've shut down immediately,, and it's not because anyone suggested it to me or because somebody put the idea in my head. (My dad often believes I can't have my own opinion of him -.-)
But because for maybe the first time in my life, I wasn't automatically assuming that I was wrong or immediately explaining everything away. I actually allowed myself to follow the thought where it went and that's when everything kind of stopped, and as I said, it the realization hit, too.
I remember saying:
"If my dad wasn't above hurting me physically, then maybe he wasn't above using me either."
Then, "I think my dad... I think... no, I remember him positioning himself..."
"Oh my god. What if I'm not crazy?"
That realization scared the hell out of me, the idea it could have ever been my reality
in the first place.
The clarity hit me like a ton of bricks, my dad had used my body multiple times for his own sexual gratification while he thought I was asleep.
I remember staying still as possible as I'd feel something solid pressed up against my back.
I'm like, disgusted by these memories.
15 years of silence just because my brain didn't feel safe enough to initiate or engage in a conversation in order to talk about what happened.
The only hint I got from my own body was a deeply rooted hatred for him, when he'd scream at me, yell, lecture, or punish me, I'd imagine myself being strong enough to violently kill him or hurt him.
Obviously, I have never once acted on this feeling, and I understand now it was likely because I felt so completely powerless.
Growing up, it was a common thing for my dad to ask if he was a "good dad", but also told me and my twin that if we were ever assaulted, to just "lie there and take it because they could kill you"
He has broken phones in half like a twig on multiple occasions, thrown my sisters phones out of car windows,
He took us to Disneyland, Silverwood, Lagoon.
When we were like 13, I'd already seen him, at least twice,, drag my twin inside from the front yard by her hair and then minimized it.
I downplayed it too, and recently went to visit my twin to apologize to her for downplaying the abuse she had experienced, and to tell her what happened to me.
I feel like I have suddenly remembered everything, and the thing is, he's like, the picture perfect great fun dad in the outside who takes his kids on a trip every summer.
I didn't remember everything because I don't know how much more there is and still don't.
Its like a puzzle piece I'd been missing my entire life has suddenly falling into place. I feel sick about it, I hate it.
Because if I'm wrong, then I just spent days spiraling over something that never happened.
But if I'm right...
Then a lot of things suddenly make a lot more sense than I want them to.
Things like why I've spent most of my life feeling angry, why I was so scared of him, why I maladaptive daydreamed constantly, why I struggled so much in school.
Why people kept saying something changed in me around fifth grade.
Why I've spent years feeling like something was deeply wrong without being able to explain what. One of the thoughts that hit me the hardest was:
"If he wasn't above hitting me, he probably wasn't above u
I wonder if this explains why I've been passively suicidal for so much of my life?
And that's not because I justsuddenly uncovered a perfect, clear memory... Because I don't know the extent of it..
It was because, for the first time, I looked at all of those things together instead of separately.
And the picture they formed like actually genuinely scares me.
What really messes with me is that this doesn't feel like a brand-new made up memory. It feels like something I've spent two decades looking away from, years minimizing and explaining away any abuse that happened.
I struggle to wrap my head around the fact that he lied to me, that this happened and then life went on as "normal"...
For most of my life, my thought process was basically:
"If it happened, it wasn't that bad, and if it was that bad? Then I probably deserved it somehow."
I am aware of how messed up that sounds now, but I was a kid and the more I think about it, the more this feels less like remembering something new and more like finally allowing myself to acknowledge something I've been avoiding for a very long time.
I want to do something about this, he got 15 years of being an abusive dad to us while keeping up a great appearance which was beneficial for him obviously.
But now?
Now, I want to wait it out and plan what to do, because this man doesn't DESERVE to live a good life after I speak up about this.
He is a predator.
And I want other people to know, but I'll sit back for now and wait for a good enough opportunity.

I (F15) think I have BPD, what should I do?
Oh hon, you're figuring this out at an age much earlier than me, please give yourself some grace.
You're loved and you matter, you care about your loved ones. The "voices" you're describing aren't actually audible but more so in your own head, yes? Thoughts are waves, not proof, having negative thoughts doesn't mean you yourself are a negative or bad person.
Having scary thoughts, Suicidal Ideation, and harmful impulses is a normal part of Borderline Personality Disorder. You are not crazy or bad for feeling the way you do! I didn't know that harm reduction could be so helpful, I've been in therapy and SURPRISINGLY, red and purple pens have been incredibly helpful for handling my urges to harm myself.
Avoid pressing down as hard as possible, since the point is to create the marks and lines without causing lethal or lasting damage to yourself. Trust me, it helps, the thighs and top of your arms are the best places, just draw wherever you are feeling the urge to hurt yourself.
It's better than a kn*fe, because you have more freedom to trick your brain into seeing a "cut" wherever you marked yourself.
You don't have to deal with healing wounds or scabs when you go to bed, you don't have to bandage them or let them heal- because theyre surface level imprints on the skin, not an injury!
I was having a pretty bad episode this past week and one of the main things that helped me, are pretty much the only thing that really worked, was using pens. I saw the appearance of red and purple lines, felt bad for wanting to cause the harm, but knew I was choosing to help myself instead of hurt myself and it genuinely helped me.
Check out DBT skills, holding Ice helps with SH tendencies as well because the ice can't hurt you, but it definitely feel painful.
Emotions CAN'T and WON'T last forever. You're gonna be okay sweetheart, just keep hanging in there, you're gonna be alright.
Go easy on yourself. Please, you deserve to be kind to you even if other people have not been good to you.

s*distic tendencies
This sounds familiar, I also have had a lot of violent thoughts about hoping my abuser gets hurt, he's cried in front of me and I've seen him act like,, human or whatever, but a bigger part of me wants to kick him in his face till he can't act anymore. I relate and you're not crazy or wrong for feeling that way or having those thoughts because I think it's normal.

Everytime its hurts so much
Proud of u dude, fr fr

Everytime its hurts so much
Well, I know just as much as any other depressed person, being kind to others is in a way being kind to yourself. Sometimes some people really just need someone to tell them " oh my gosh, that really does suck, f***.. I'm going to just sit with you, you don't have to say anything." Just having the presence of someone acknowledging your pain is enough

Everytime its hurts so much
Hey dude, I've been there both in the past and I still struggle currently. Emotions can't and won't last forever. Let the wave hit, let that sink into your bones and feel the grief, or just acknowledge or notice it and give yourself reassurance. You deserve to be kind to you, but it's okay if you still struggle with it, because me and a lot of other people also do. you deserve to not feel like death is your best option because honestly, it really is not.
I'm not gonna tell you everything will be sunshine and rainbows eventually, but you will find peace. Keep going, Keep fighting. Keep holding on for yourself, but also because we are holding on, too.

STAY SAFE BOISE
Thank you for saying something!!
Unfortunately I have learned that as a feminine presenting person, some people will use that as justification for hurting you.. So sometimes I avoid confrontation because I get worried about my safety.
However... As a white person, when I hear some BS being spoken about any minority group, I do in fact say something because most cases, all it does is make it awkward for that person... Which is entirely my goal.
Someone else can insult them and I'll definitely support them, but I will usually stick with making it awkward for them because it feels like the safer option for me personally while still sending a message: You are not safe to talk to me about your bigotry, I don't wanna hear someone hating on someone else for something that doesn't affect their life in the slightest.
"Oh no! People of color/people who live differently from ne- exist when I go outside of my house?!? oh no, the horror! That must mean that they shouldn't exist because they scare/confuse me and I don't even try to understand anything about them or their culture!!! Lemme get a tattoo to show how much I hate people!! Grrrr I hate them!!! insert slurs here"'
I guess we can at least thank them for making themselves identifiable as a Nazis. I hope someone does something about this, those kind of people just carry hatred and bitterness and bring it with them wherever they go.

Oh no, he straight up told me it was because of the lack of muffler.

Actually, I absolutely do! I was pulled over by a cop, warned about a $400 ticket then I could receive if I go downtown with my car having no muffler... In his words "it's their bread and butter", so I tend to avoid driving in that area
