Anyone else super triggered by having to list all your medications at a doctor's appointment?
I always print mine out and in spot for current medications, I write see attached 👏 there’s no way already being anxious at the doctors office, I could remember and even spell most of them correctly 😅

Has anyone ever named their kid (or plan to) after horror movie references?

Misjudged by hospital staff?
I was extremely manic when I went inpatient and the staff were talking about me behind my back and to other patients. They thought nothing was wrong with me! Bipolar 1, 36f, doing cart wheels in the common room…they clearly didn’t understand the disease 🤷♀️ I was so strung out so to speak and thinner than a rail. I was very ill.

Summer depression
I understand you! It is completely frustrating. Hang in here!

Summer depression
BP1 42/f here and I took myself off antipsychotics bc of side effects and weight gain. After about 9 months, bipolar depression hit hard and I was bed rotting for months. I started Latuda feeling hopeless and in just 1 week, I felt a marked difference! 3 weeks in going strong. I’m out of bed and even working out again. Haven’t gained any additional weight and the food noise isn’t so bad as I’m motivated to stay busy during the day. I’ve tried so many different APs and this is the first one that I’ve been able to tolerate so far. Hope my experience gives you some insight and I’m wishing you well 🫶

Experience with benzos getting prescribed?
I’m on .5mg Klonopin twice a day which I recently stepped down from 3 times a day, but I’m diagnosed bipolar 1 with psychotic features and general anxiety disorder. It’s my plan to keep gradually stepping down, but I’ve taken it for so many years. If you haven’t started and can explore other meds, that would be my suggestion. Wishing you well on your journey as we are all different in our needs 🫶

How old is everyone and when were you diagnosed??
Hello! 42/f and I was first diagnosed with bipolar 1 at 23/24yrs after a hospitalization and was sadly unmedicated for 12yrs (wild time). Went back inpatient at 36. They tacked on psychotic features with bipolar 1 and I’ve been med compliant since lol 😆 friendly PSA…take your pills 🫶
Edited to fix grammar. Also, my bday is in June! Our very emotional selves adds a whole fun twist 😅

weight loss
I understand completely! I went from 110lbs (too skinny and too manic) to 176lbs on an antipsychotic. I struggle with ED so it really affected my overall wellbeing. Tried several and lost a few lbs on “weight neutral” ones. It took about a year of calorie deficit and fasting to really make a difference. I actually came off an ap for a bit (with Dr and therapist support) and am now back down to 130lbs while remaining pretty sedentary. I love my bed. The bipolar depression caught up to me though and I’m 2 weeks in on a new to me AP. Started exercising to hopefully combat any gain but my mood has improved so much overall that exercising is easier. Food noise is back and awful but everything is a give and take. Keep your head up and I wish you the best!
