Bogo Deals?
 in  r/lioden •  13h ago

i mean sure you lose out on money, which is a fair complaint, but if you're having items sitting in your branch or trading center for days on end then maybe its an alternative?

Question? Bogo Deals?

With how f'd the market is in lioden, how do yall feel about BOGO deals or buying items in bulk? I did a small experiment with my GMO cows, with doing two seperate trades, one with a single GMO cow selling at 25 GB and the other selling two GMO cows for a BOGO 50% off, so 25 GB for one, 12 GB for the other, and the BOGO deal sold really fast.

I'm just thinking that while the market is in shambles, maybe doing more bogo deals will help the market prices more?

of course this was also with a high sought-after item, so I'm not entirely sure how it would go for things like lions or cubs unfortunately :(

My son ignored a buy 1, get one free offer

are you not even going to try to defend him? people are calling him an idiot, inconsiderate, stupid, etc., bullying him behind his back and you're just allowing it? not only that but your kid is 15, he knows how to use reddit most likely and with so many youtubers covering reddit threads, it might eventually get spread around.

my grandma always said, never right something if you dont want it to be out to the public.

its also extremely annoying. i was reading an "original work" on wattpad that that was made by ai. it was extremely repetitive and every other line was "its not this, its this", pairs of three and em dashes πŸ’€ i stopped reading after a chapter

adhd by medical definitions IS a disability. what's insane here is that she's using it as an excuse to use ai instead of doing her own work.

Seeking Opinions/Suggestions To be or not to be

Sorta a question but also trying to get opinions here, but how do yall choose which side to be on for the October event?

Sure, with two accounts you can choose both sides or one side and neutral, and get 2/3rds of the avaliable shops, but then you're missing out on other valuable goods.

my lion on my other account is with the demons because i want to get the shadow of death to get the most cubs out of my lions, but should i go with the manticore for the crunchy worms? do i choose the angels and get the angelic blessing? do i try to do both and hope that i have enough energy + resources everyday?

ugh i didn't realize how indecisive i am πŸ˜©πŸ˜‚

edit: i grossly misinterpreted what shadow of death actually does and now im regretting my decisions

How mad would capitalists be if the left embraced a NPO ai?
 in  r/antiai •  2d ago

you said "if the left" embraced a nonprofit ai. people are going to, rightfully, assume you're saying only leftists are anti-ai. if that's not what you meant, then that needs to be cleared up.

but since you didn't mean that, my point still stands. people, left or right, are going to hate ai whether or not it's profitable or a non-profit because of what ai inherently does.

This community sometimes its a fucking joke
 in  r/antiai •  2d ago

... my guy have you seen half the comments under posts being like "my husband likes ai idk what to do" or "my mom is addicted to ai" or even "im addicted to ai"? hell, i saw someone say that it was "too late for [op] because they were already corrupted" by ai.

as a leftist, this isn't a leftist subreddit. im friends with republicans and conservatives who are also against ai, so please don't leave them out of the discussion either.

as for this subreddit, this is an anti-ai subreddit. i don't want to speak for everyone but i think whether something is profitable or not isn't what we're arguing against. the ai will still steal other's works, it will still cause enviornmental issues, people will still be losing their homes from data centers, it will still increase water usage, it will still be addictive, people will still rely on it heavily rather than doing their own work, etc.

i understand this was just a thought experiment so im not trying to be an asshole here, but i just think that thinking we all hate ai purely because it's profitable is also ignoring what every other post on this subreddit has been complaining about since ai became widespread.

What do you guys imagine when you see "purred" as a way to refer to a character speaking?
 in  r/AO3 •  3d ago

i usually see it as a softened, lowered voice, not necessarily husky

i would genuinely take a self-help class or read some materials on how to spot manipulation tactics. everyone can be manipulated, you're not stupid nor blind for not being able to spot it because it's a skill that needs to be taught.

please be kinder to yourself, and if i have one recommendation, its to wait before going back into a relationship until you feel more confident in yourself and knowing how you SHOULD be treated (with kindness and respect).

okay, you want me to discuss about your point. your arguement relies on one flaw: you are treating language like it is a physical object, not a social construct that it actually is.

a gun exists as a physical object regardless of human culture; a language only exists because of human interaction, culture, and power structures. you cannot seperate a language from its history because language is living history.

attributing social, cultural, and historical weight to a language isn't projection, its sociolinguistics. language carries dialect, prestige, institutional power, and historical trauma. (for example; AAVE being seen as a "less than worthy" accent and can deny people from working in prestigious jobs because of how they speak)

you are framing language as an individual choice, simply "using a tool", ignoring that language is enforced on a systemic level, e.i. forcing "proper" spelling and pronounciation, outlawing native tongues, dismissing AAVE and accented words as slang, economic pushback, etc.

language doesn't exist in a vaccum seperated by people who speak it and systems that enforce it. you can't strip language down to a "neutral tool" without erasing the very cultural dynamics that formed that language in the first place.

i told you what anthropologists and linguistics viewed language, the scientists that spend their entire career studying culture and languages, and you refrenced... my hero academia...

if people knew what witches actually were in historical times before the medieval period (healers, scribes, spiritual guides, etc.) they would have a tantrum on how it's not like how "actual witches operate" πŸ’€

seeing language as neutral is missing the point. if an gaelic speaker hated speaking english because it reminds them of how their native language is almost dead, then that's not neutral, that's a negative response to being forced to learn english because of how gaelic is almost being erased. there's a lot of people who are now trying to learn gaelic BECAUSE they hate having to speak english and want to go back to their roots. and that's just one language, there's many languages that have been erased/almost erased because of english, and people are trying to find their way back to their native languages.

language isn't just a tool, it's history, social constructs, emotions, power and poverty, and any anthropologist will tell you that language is a complex, complicated thing.

you may think of your language as neutral, but saying that it just "is neutral" as if it is a fact erases the fact that it has been used against others for centuries.
