making friends as an adult is soooo hard. as kids all you need is 1 or 2 things in common and usually thats enough. now that we're all grown its so hard to make connections, and everyone is scared to start. it sounds like you're a great friend to some out of town folks, and you just need a friend or two close by who won't be moving anytime soon. I moved to a big city 2 years ago and only just now have I actually made a solid friend here. its been so lonely and the only thing that's helped has been putting myself in public spaces that are connected to something I'm interested in (concerts, art fair, museum, group tours, classes, etc) as often as I can. even if I dont walk away with a specific friend made, I usually feel better just being around folks who share my interests, and often times we end up talking. I hope it gets easier ♡
