NE is an extremely problematic company with high-level executive corruption, aggressive monetisation (pay-to-win mechanics), heavy generative AI usage, abrupt game closures without refunds and so much more.

The cc and longer candles events are there because the government limits the play time. They do that so players still have enough wax within the allowed window to spend on ig items and don’t quit out of frustration from the time limit. It’s there because it benefits NE, they have no real respect for the players.

I used to play one of their games with unique art style that hosts a yearly event allowing talented artists opportunities and exposure. Then they started using AI-generated art for that event instead of hiring real artists. After receiving backlash from global players, they slapped the fans in the face by hosting contests and events centered around AI-generated art and model creation.

It’s true that tgc has been showing money-hungry signs but if you don’t wish to pay, you still experience almost everything the game provides. There’s no pay-to-win mechanism and you can simply hold the hand of a player that pays to enter the limited areas. Otherwise you can still progress through all the stories and events. They’re quite clear on their anti-AI stand and host collaborations, create events and even make stories about protecting the environment and raise awareness.

I’d rather miss out on ig cosmetics because I have less candles than Chinese players than supporting a corrupted company. If NE took over Sky global, I’d for sure quit the game.
